Leader of the Opposition Pritam Singh moved a motion in parliament on Tuesday (Nov 7), calling on the government to review its policies to lower cost of living pressures on Singaporeans. Mr Singh said the House “must leave no stone unturned because for some Singaporeans, this has become a cost of living crisis”.
The Workers' Party chief elaborated on his party's view that there is now a “chasm” between headlines that inflation is stabilising and the reality that price rises continue to hit Singaporeans hard. Giving examples of businesses that have adjusted policies beyond one-time support measures for workers, he said the Government “can certainly do more too” in a heightened inflationary environment.
