It is, corpos are just used to the average person not having access to the information that tells them it's illegal. The funniest part of the whole ordeal was the LV fraud department telling him he was using counterfeit fabric because it didn't have the rubber lining, which he responded by telling he used a heat gun and separated the lining from the leather and that was not rocket science.

It should be enforced as possession of illegal information, same as what medical confidentiality was (supposed to be), and the damages paid must be a large percentage of any income the company made during that time. The argument of "what about companies" does not exist, companies can just change how they do business just like with every other regulation. I heard they print their logos all over the outside and inside of the bags to be able to enforce copyright- since the bag design itself is hard to enforce that on. So the logo acts as a means to go after counterfeiters - like that is going to stop anyone. That in no way defends what they're doing here, this is yet another case of "We sold you a product but we still own it and will tell you how to use it."

I do a little leather working and saw his video drop the other day. I thought it was crazy that they knew he was repurposing bags that likely would have been thrown out because they were falling apart from use. If anything they should be embarrassed that the super expensive products they sell fall apart so quickly. I saw the original video. IIRC, the investigator caught him as he was leaving the building. Also if he sells to walk-in customers (as opposed to doing strictly online/mail-order sales) he has no way of knowing that the person who just entered the shop isn't a customer until they identify themselves.

Well, I am in the Venn Diagram overlap of folks who saw the original Corter Leather video and follow your channel. I didn't even think of this in terms of right to repair, so your take was really interesting. But what happened to this guy was so freaking outrageous. Some chick shows up at Corter's HOME, insisting he sign a bunch of papers he had not read or seen before, which would have had him admitting in writing he was counterfeiting goods!! He told her to get lost, and when he called the Loui Vuitton fraud department, the guy he talked to was utterly, completely clueless about what he was actually doing. I did a trans pan a couple months ago and it was just shiny metal paste in the bottom of it. To be fair her daughter did throw it in park once while it was still moving, but that shouldnt be nearly enough to do all that, and she said it was acting weird before.

That's not all he did. He made a wallet with a LV logo on it. If he just wanted nice leather, he could have used the leather. He wanted to use the LV logo to increase the value of what he made, but doing so is illegal and cheapens the logo.

@@superjboy16 no it doesnt. bosch and miele, for example, are still privately owned and their focus is quality and customer satisfaction, not quarterly earnings. there are privately owned fashion brands too, such as chanel and hermes, who still havent completely destroyed their brand image by pandering to influencers and mass market.

I bought a corter leather wallet pattern, made it, and still have it 5 years later. Even after putting it through the wash multiple times. I'm an amateur who used the cheapest tandy leather imaginable. My wife inherited a lv bag, and it cracked in one day of sun exposure. I'd strongly recommend Corter Leather products over anything from lv.

Sooner or later, all companies will enmd up like this, or close down. Because that is what the reason of existence for a company is, all it takes is different time to reach that line. (Just like kids grow up differently) The core concept of capitalism is maximization of profits (aka ripoff, scam) and you can achieve that best while you are a monopoly and you eliminate all competition or perceived competition, you bully everyone else out of your market.

To scrap and reuse materials is the very core principle of my art, and art is the only thing I have going for me to put food on the table. They can never try to gaslight me into believing that I am doing anything illegal here. To reuse perfectly usable material that would otherwise just end up in a landfill should even be encouraged, and in terms of making a humble living base on it, pretty darn vital to get the materials you need for as cheap as you possibly can.

Yes, upcycling is vital throughout human history. That's how quilting was invented. They've found men working outdoors like winters at sea or farming survived by handmade insulated coverings. My friends 20s - 40s do upcycling from the human drive to alter our env't and as Makers we share knowledge and items of every sort. People IRL are increasingly into DIY, though oddly the media hasn't noticed. There's movement towards what actually works here at the grassroots level. Even, I'm learning to make sourdough bread 🍞 since Maker friends have been for awhile. Things here IRL are in several ways better than depicted. 🌱 💡 🍞🍞

I think she was a lawyer, not a PI. She wanted him to sign packet without having time to read it. With no legal standing she asked him to call the number inside the packet. He did that, but it wasn't a direct number to anyone of consequence. Long story short, the company thought that the genuine material he was using was counterfeit.

You should also be able to turn off the HDMI-CEC settings. Every manufacturer has a different name for it, but you should be able to shut that off so tjey don't talk to each other. I have an old Samsung TV and a Blu-ray player that I tried anynet. ( which is what they call it) and it messed up the picture settings i had so I shut it off.
