One of 26 Private SNAFU (Situation Normal, All F*cked Up) cartoons made by the U.S. Army Signal Corps to educate and boost the morale of the troops. The SNAFU character was created by Theodore Geisel (Dr. Seuss) and Phil Eastman, and most were animated by Warner Brothers Animation Studios. They were voiced by actors including Mel Blanc and scored by Carl Stalling.

I hear Mel Blanc in every character! Daffy Duck, Bugs bunny, Marvin the Martian! And the grandma that had Tweety Bird as a pet! For such an alarming message, it was oddly comforting. I guess that was the point.

A timely message in any age! Got me to thinking... The way we approach large scale difficulties hasn't changed much. The means and the medium of communication has changed, but human behavior hasn't budged. We're all just playing a more sophisticated game of telegraph these days. 😁 We're a mess, and we don't handle national crises with grace, but Americans have handled MUCH worse. In a world of change, the consistency of human behavior is actually quite comforting. 💖 Of course, that generation had something we really don't. A sense of unity from a shared struggle. Imagine what we could accomplish these days if we were a unified nation!

But this film was never copyrighted to begin with (and if it was, the copyright would after expired after 28 years unless the copyright was renewed). Periscope Films could conceivably claim a copyright on its digitized version of the film as a derivative work.
