The 510 is a beautiful boat no doubt. BTW looks like the one you toured was in a boat show. The reason you don’t see the evidence of a live aboard family is Privilege spent a week detailing her for the show.

You are right John. It was at Annapolis...having said that, the wear and tear that I see on lesser brands could never be "detailed" out by anyone. Honestly, Privilege is just a superior quality build. D

Learning about sailboats has almost become an obsession of mine for the last several years... I came across a comment about Catamarans...you don't really want a solid foredeck, that is you want more open "trampoline" area. If you dive into a wave, you want that water to drain off the foredeck immediately. Build quality aside, (for a couple to sail) the Neel probably would be the best choice out of these...

How does Privilege manage to justify over $1MM more than NEEL for its sail away USD price?

Hey Rick. That’s an easy one, but you will have to get on board each boat to understand. There is absolutely no comparison between them. As much as I love the NEEL concept, the quality, finish, materials, design, etc. (I could go on for a long time) of the Privilege is multiples better than NEEL. These are completely different vessels. Like comparing a Beneteau to an Oyster, Contest or Swan.

Seriously you need to charter a monohull and a cat before you drop 2 million on a boat. In my opinion a monohull is easier to single hand sail but you rock and roll on the hook.

Hey John. Not to worry. I don't HAVE $2M to drop on ANYTHING. I will be sharing my top 20 so far in the next few weeks and your WILL see a monohull or two in the mix. But tell me why you feel a monohull is esier to handle. Lets compare a 2005 Oyster 62 to a 2005 Catana 582...just for fun...Dying to hear your thoughts!

@@navalgazingatcampdavid You know I should not have made that statement about ease of sail. I have zero cat experience. I am looking at the practicality of the situation. Personally I would not single had any monohull above 50 feet no matter how much automation. Automation breaks and sooner or later you'll have to do it the old fashion way and it's not going to be a simple task performed in the cockpit. That is what worries me the most about in mast furling. I have experienced the Atlantic go from peaceful to "oh shit" in a matter of minutes. You can drop a traditional main in seconds but if your furling motor jams or breaks you're in trouble. You brought up oyster, even Oyster says it takes two people to sail their boats no matter the size. If it's going to be just you and your wife I'd seriously charter/hitch a ride on both a cat and mono and actually sail her. You may find you can handle a cat with ease. When you start cruising you will spend about 10% of your time actually sailing and the other 90% on the hook or dock. Comfort is a serious factor. I'm getting close to retirement myself and looking to get a blue water cruiser. I'm going to keep mine in the 50 foot mono hull range and so far an older Amel, Hallberg Rassy, Oyster, or Hylas are at the top of my list. I'm going for a skeg hung rudder that's inline with the keel. These newer boats with unprotected twin rudders is a disaster waiting to happen. You have no idea how much junk is floating out there in the water. A rudder is just fiberglass over a foam core with some steel ribs. Real easy to damage especially hanging out there with no protection from the keel or a skeg. On the cat front my thinking, keeping in mind I zero experience with them, is the size. If you think about it a 50 foot cat is almost twice the size of 50 foot mono. That's a lot of real estate topside especially when you are in bad weather conditions and you have to leave the safety of the helm to free a sheet. Also the capsize factor. A mono hull will heel over in strong wind and eventually just dump the wind out of the sails. A cat you will most probably flip unless your standing rig breaks first. Like I said before I have experienced calm little to no wind turn into a gale in a matter of minutes. Storms can and do develop out of nowhere when the conditions are right. Especially at night when you are tired and not really paying attention as you normally would. Hope my two cents worth helps.

Thanks for watching and commenting! I love the Windelo but I still find their interior finish concepts too angular and plastic. They have come along way from the first boat but would still have some way to go for my preference. What are your thoughts on? D

I love your channel and videos, but you might want to work on your cinematographic skills.:) The rapid movement and frequent swinging can make it difficult to see what’s happening, and causes dizziness. :)

Some good points, but PLEASE! Camera is too shaky and wobbly and rushed. SLOW the hell down and stop rushing about like some ADHD patient. Slowly view the interrior and focus on one part at a time and then go on the next. Right now it is unwatchable.

Not trying to be mean but your camera work is terrible. To much movement makes it unwatchable. If you must pan, do it slowly, don't be in such a hurry.

Terrible. Too heavy to slow. A Outremer 52/51 is a far better sailing yacht, this is more like a motor boat. Terrible visibility from sitting in the saloon, forward facing windows way to high.

@@Odyspl2 Plenty of retired people sailing REAL performance cats. Look at Biotrek for example a bigger 5x that sails way faster. This boat is a motor home not a yacht.

I hear you brother...but i could also say that Outremers are for pussies and that real sailors sail the ORC 57! Thats a boat that Batman would buy! ( Ya gotta LOVE "carry On Sailings name for his ORC 57...ARMAGEDDON...hoorahhh!!) In the end, there are those of us that want a Rolls and those of us that want an Austin Martin. Each one does a good job at what it is built to do.

@@unmonavela2048 Hey Unmovable. Sadly I have never sailed a 510. That group of people is VERY small.
