Just a basic note: you should always mix ALL your dry ingredients together then mix them with all your wet ingredients! That's basic baking. Not trying to be a jerk, but as previous people have observed and said something about it, your ingredient s will not be " mixed with all of the other ingredients". It's a must! Good luck!
Why would you add in salt at the very end instead of just putting it in with the sugars? I'm afraid it would get locked into just a small portion of the batter, and not evenly distributed throughout the batter.Am I wrong on this? And why not just include the baking powder with the flour? I will be better distributed throughout.
Shortening is the key to good melt in your mouth feel. Butter doesn't work the same. If your using crunchy PB you have to use more to compensate for the nuts. My recipe is very similar, so I know yours are good. Here's mine. 2½ Cups Flour ½ Teaspoon Salt ½ Teaspoon Baking Soda 1 Cup Butter Flavored Crisco 1 18oz Jar of Jif Extra Crunchy PB 1 Cup White Sugar 1 Cup Brown Sugar 2 Eggs 1 Teaspoon Vanilla As a young boy, PB cookies were the first cookies I ever made.
I notice that the stand mixer has a tendency to ball a dough ball around the bottom of the shaft. I use a hand mixer through out the entire process and don't have the dough bunch at the bottom of the beater bar.
Rude people . Its just a cookie recipe . Some may like it some may not . Just pass it by without rude comments. Stop trying to insult people just because your lifes miserable ..
Following this recipe tonight for some what I call “ Love You “ gifts 🎁 since I’m now a devoted Christian that no longer celebrates Christmas 🎄❣️but still feels the need to gift those I love. Thanks so much for the demonstration and recipe.. God Bless you in all of your good Endeavors.. ❤️
So smart. I have told others not to get me anything for years because I don't celebrate holidays once I found out they are all actually pegan holidays. People think I'm crazy and don't live in the same world as them. Gifts from the heart. I'll start that this year.
@buldglvr dec.25th isn't the date he was born. Period. The most pathetic thing is you celebrate a pagan holiday the winter solstice. Beware you are so blind you don't see the writing on the wall.
@buldglvr seems like you have hate in your heart. Did you see our original post? She spoke of giving food she makes to others. That is a true gift from. The heart. I have baked PB cookies with my daughter for her family. I hope you learn alot from. Your studies because what I've researched is the hidden truth. God is real and his son came to earth to heal. Find your truth but don't hate others for their truths. Have a good night. God bless.
@buldglvr your first words.... Pardon me but you are both pathetic. Rethink before you write or proof read before hitting the send. How else was I supposed to take you.??? We all love the Lord and believe but we see through the veil the mainstream beats over our head. You are one of the reasons so many judge us. You come off crass. Please revaluation how you speak to others in person and online.
@buldglvr calling me pathetic is plain disrespect. I can tell you are very hard headed and push many away from christ. It's sad actually. So "as a matter of fact." I'd hate any conversation with you, Including this one. I'll let you get the last word since I know it's needed in your small world. Goodbye forever.
In my childhood home peanut butter cookies were the ultimate treat. I have never forgotten the smell and taste. As I bit into these delicious flakey cookies they were never chewy or crispy. They had a texture that was way beyond that. Off and on after becoming an adult I have tried to duplicate my Mom's peanut butter cookies but I was never able to duplicate the perfection. I saw this prize winning recipe and it is exactly what I have been looking for. I now know the secret. The ingredient that does it is the Crisco. I should have realized that was it. My mother always cooked with crisco. but I have been using butter and sometime butter and Crisco but never just Crisco. Now I bake up a batch once a month. I can't stop eating them so I usually give away most of them. Thank you Mrs. Goose 😋
Can’t wait to try this! I’ve been trying to find my grandmothers recipe and yours looks much like hers in the end. It’s similar to other depression era recipes I’ve seen. I like the one comment of using butter flavored shortening.
Wade Lawrence The less calorie, more convenient and faster recipe. 😀 I still prefer the extra steps and ingredients cause that equals ( to me ) extra love 💕
Yes I saw that 3 ingredient recipe and I tried it. It was WONDERFUL. The best peanut butter cookies I have tasted. They really melt in your mouth. All growing up baking cookies, the recipe always called for flour. Well no more. Don't need it with this recipe. 3 ingredients is all it took.
I definitely agree, the portions are right, however never just dump salt in, sprinkle it evenly over your flour and the sift together and also sift together the soda so none of them form clumps. I disagree with shortening because it has no flavor, you can opt for it, however I'd have done either half butter half shortening, or all butter or half butter half margarine. Lard or shortening, while useful, is better used for cooking fried foods. Same reason y ou don't use shortening as much in pie crusts, they lack flavor and are just lumps of crunchy sweetened paste.
I know I'm a few years late but are these cookies crunchy or chewy? I prefer crunchy cookies. And can I make the cookies and freeze them then bake at a later date?
They're crunchy, but not a hard crunchy (I don't know if that makes sense). I haven't tried freezing the cookies before baking, but I don't see why that wouldn't work.
