Pentatonix original songs like this one deserve so much more attention! Unfortunately they don't perform Love Again anymore because itt was very damaging to Kevin's throat. This was very early in the PTX journey, and it's hard to believe they have continued to grow as artists when they were veritable perfection to start with - but they have! Great reaction! This one was meant for you, for sure!

Thank you for another highly entertaining reaction. Kevin said that it hurts his throat to do some of the beat boxing. This is an original song by PTX and not a cover. So said it did not get much radio play. Kevin is an overachiever. He plays the piano, cello and saxophone. By 17 years old , he had already appeared twice in Carnegie Hall, once for the cello and the other for the saxophone. He speaks 6 languages and is fluent in Mandarin. He was accepted by several top universities in America but chose Yale because he wanted to be a doctor in China and passed his pretty med in Yale but left to join PTX He hardly sang but learned how to sing well after joining PTX from Avi, the base and Mitch the counter tenor with the high voice. Now he can sing higher than Mitch! He also writes, arranges and produces music. You can see him in action in his own videos and also on stage for PTX. Fun reaction!! This is one of my favorite originals!! I will NEVER understand how it was never played all the time in clubs…… It’s nice to hear Kevin get kudos from someone who actually knows/understands the brilliance/complexity of what he is doing! All of Kevin’s beat-boxing (and cello-boxing) is mind-blowing, but some instances that stand out to me are Coffee in Bed, New Rules x Are You That Somebody, Radioactive, Kiss From a Rose and any of their “Evolution” videos (such stamina exhibited!).

"Coffee in Bed" another where Kevin's beats rule, especially when you really focus on all he's doing. Mitch Slap is what it's called. Mitch Grassi, Kirstie (like thirsty) Maldonado, Tall blonde is Scott Hoying, (those 3 went to middle school and high school together) Avi Kaplan (bearded bass, left in 2017 Matt Sallee then joined) and of course Kevin (He created the form of music called Cello-boxing)The dude played Cello at Carnegie Hall as a teen. I saw an interview that Kevin gave, and he said that when he joined the group Pentatonix to participate on the show (The Singoff ). That he would get up early and I believe he said watch RU-vid to learn more beatboxing for the show. He said he didn't know as much as he does now. You should watch The Singoff and see how well he did from the beginning. They were awesome.

I love your unfiltered response, and am glad you're succeeding on your channel. Was so much fun to see a beatboxer's take on this performance - we are more accustomed to having focus on the trio or on Avi, the bass in this number. Blonde baritone is Scott, Woman is Kirstie (rhymes with thirsty), Countertenor is Mitch, Bass is either Avi, as here, or Matt who signed on in fall 2017. I can't wait until you see Kevin cello-boxing.

Kevin does someone high speed beatboxing in the Pentatonix original Coffee in Bed although the camera does not focus mainly on him

Kevin said he will not do throat bass again because it hurt far too much.

Don't know if someone else has already said this, but Kevin doesn't do throat bass anymore for fear of destroying his voice.

Great and very fun reaction!! Yes, Kevin tossed a whole career out to become a musician,..but he's also been playing the cello and sax and piano from a young age. He performed twice in Carnegie Hall ...once on the sax and the other on the cello. The group found him when they were looking for a beatboxer and happened on a video of him playing the cello while beatboxing. They contacted him and asked if he'd join them. He was busy studying for his Pre-Med at Yale at the time, but contacted them a couple of weeks later after passing his tests. He joined them, they won and he never looked back. Some videos of him beatboxing while playing the cello: Shallow, Say Something, Radioactive, Over The River, Kiss From A Rose.

That bit with the throat bass, I believe is the part that Kevin has said that it hurts his throat to do it so this song is like the only song, I believe, where Kevin does that noise. I absolutely LOVE that you mentioned that little noise that Kevin does that sounds very..robotic? Not sure how to describe it. Not a lot of reactors I have seen notice it or make mention of it. Loving your attention to detail and loving your excitement! It's like you're a kid in a candy store and it is so amusing and I am so here for it! Also digging the viewpoint from a pro beatboxer and how you call attention to the little things that Kevin is doing. And noticing the crazy eyed Kevin, first time I've seen someone notice, I think he's trying to portray an 'android' kind of cyber tech thing in his costume and mannerisms when he's singing! This is my favorite of their originals, and I have probably listened to it over a hundred times. Mitch is the lead singer on this one, Scott and Kirsten are support vocals, Avi is the bass, and Kevin ("KO") is the beatboxer. Avi and Kevin wrote this one together; they shared beatboxing and bass duties throughout the song. Avi is also my favorite thing about this video and song!

You can see clearly what Kevin and Matt do in the evolution series especially in the evolution of Beyonce, DIGAMMA, Ariana Grande and Michael Jackson

They are a perfect example of not trying to OUTDO their bandmate, but rather, just not to let them down…the result is a 100% effort by the whole group!!! Creating something that they can be proud of and we ALL benefit from!!!

Kevin's selection for Pentatonlx was due to "Cello Boxing" (beat box together with the playing of cello) my fav. example of this Is showcased in the song "Shallow"

Avi & Kevin together were a beast! They roomed together for a while and definitely became a duo in sound making and writing! Kevin says they remain good friends even after Avi left the group. ❤ Kevin & Matt have a great, but different, partnership. Two fun loving & sweet spirits that light up the stage together! Fun to hear your take on Kevin's skills! As others have said, this is a very early PTX original. But the throat singing was hard on Kevin and he doesn't do much of it anymore. There is a live performance of this (only Kevin has a microphone) that's part of a backstage interview back in 2014, before they had won any of their Grammy's. It's a cute interview, and an amazing performance that you can see most of what each of them are doing. There are videos on RU-vid of avi and Tim Foust from Home Free knocking out the sound system with there bass. Probably not long enough to make a regular reaction video, but maybe a "short". Even if you don't post them you should watch them.

This one is definitely a tour de force from Kevin! The other high points you’ll want to hit as a beatboxer are Daft Punk (got that one already), New Rules (which I think you just released), Come Along, and Havana. I love Havana - their cover is so chill, and Kevin pretends to be other instruments besides an entire percussion section.

Since you seemed to appreciate Avi Kaplan's (the bass) solo in this video, I think you'll enjoy this live video taken about a week ago at the Atlanta, Georgia stop on his current tour. He does an intro with his original song "Change on the Rise", but does it in his basso profundo range, vibrating in everyone's chests. Then he launches into his original "Get Down", but when he goes super low again in order to record a loop for a background vocal, the person's phone can't handle the frequency and it distorts.
