Wow, Austen, the behind-the-scenes sound design video is fantastic! I'm really enjoying the longer format. Thanks a lot for sharing your time and expertise!
Great video Austin, may I pick your thoughts for a moment? In my last video: “Apple II: 1977 The Chain Reaction Revolution”, I had approximately 12 layers of timeline sound that I exclusively dedicated to sound, and about 13 layers of media above it. I always broke sound into 3 categories; and I appreciate your sharing of knowledge with me, Diegetic Music? WHAT? I never heard of it, but I also called that Dialogue music, the actual music within the dialogue; funny how close but far I was. Your timeline looked very clean, you had more layers. Can I ask what Books or knowledge resources you could recommend which might help put (informationally) me on par with your thinking? I know I can’t gain your 20 years overnight, but I’m about a year in at 40-50 hours weekly on top of maintaining an 8-5, and I very much appreciate people supporting me with knowledge. Thank you!!!!!!! Onlison 🐅
Hi Onlison! I always appreciate your comments. I remember really enjoying this book when I was starting out: a.co/d/7IG7NF7. I try to stay organized with dialogue, music, and sound effects. You're doing the best thing, which is putting in the hours! Keep at it!
Could you do an in-depth video on how editing is like a conversation, how does one shot make sense with another. I’ve heard of it in terms that it’s questions that are in the viewer’s subconscious.
