Pro-ject has a done a lot to bring in people to this hobby. Interesting products, new products every year, lots of updates, listens to the market and affordable for almost everyone. Hats off to them.
Yippie I agree with you, I originally had a Roksan Radius but the wife hated it and I spent ages looking at turntables that were aesthetically pleasing, had a cover (again wife and me hated dusting the Roksan), also needed an easy to use speed control and had to sound great, we ended up buying a Project Xtension 10 and have to say we are blown away by how good it is. I also like Projects mass market but innovative and well priced approach, certainly supports the younger generations getting into analogue systems
I love Pro-Jects idea of affordable luxury and the ideas they come up with. I think it is a wise decision to have the speedbox built as they are doing it now. Thank you Mr. Fremer!
That Carbon + Acrylic platter + Hi Res recording feature, is the turntable I've been waiting for. My infant LP collection will continue to collect dust a little while longer until that thing releases.
Agreed. Plus a 2M Red cartridge. Was looking at uturn custom. Can get all that but the digital output. Of course I don't care to record, but I have a family member who wants some old ones recorded so that would come in handy. My pc has too much noise in the line in for me. Great record player with not so great capture == no go for me. Perhaps I'll just look for an external analog to digital converter to run to the pc.
RE the 2M Red, the Blue is clearly a better listening experience and well worth the added expense. My 55-year old ears can tell the difference. It's only a little better going from the Blue to the Bronze. I have a 2M Silver cartridge that was a special edition for these Pro-Ject tables fitted with the Bronze (fine line) - but on a vintage Technics table and it it sweet!
The S-shaped tonearm looks interesting. They should offer that as an option on more of their turntables. Also, what about an external speed box for their DC motors? Further, motor noise and motor isolation has always been a problem on many of their models. Why don't they address that?
Great video showing the Pro-Ject lineup, I was in the market for an entry level turntable with good sound so I just purchased the essential III. Thank you for the video.
Project are doing something for everyone, I think that's the message, whatever your taste, you can have plain black or silver or something bizarre or funky, why not.
Why acrylic? Also, I have heard that they cause more static discharge. $120 is some change to pay - must e a good reason for it with no drawbacks. Thanks Michael. Happy New Year!
Where can I find the recordmaster with the 2m red and the walnut? Amazon has a few colors with an OM 10. Is that an old version? I was going to build custom at uturn but that digital output might get me to change sides at the last minute.
So why don't they use real marble? I got a couple of pieces about that size for the kitchen.. cost me $16.99 each. But I guess if they used it for a turntable would add $500 to the price.
Why can't they have options to buy without stylus? I have a very nice cartridge but the rest of my turnable is junk and I'm not interested in Ortofon reds.
That's another question I have. You don't see many "S" arms these days. Even on the ultra high ends. My old Technics SL-D202 has an S, but my Duals and B&O are straight. Why?
If only the recordmaster Hi Res had rca line in too... i'd buy one, no question about it.. would be all i'm looking for in one box. (EDIT: Might be asking too much but a coaxial digital out alongside that optical would be really handy, too)
I'm looking for another brand to change my Début 3. But always Pro Ject propose Best price quality and many products. I'm waiting The Classic SB as soon

I had one of the first ProJect "Debut" turntable a few years ago, that was totally worthless. An Czechoslovakia's unsuccessful REGA copy which I gave away for free to a friend. After that episode I bought an old REGA Planar 2 I'm happy with. That much about ProJect
Really should have bought a Pro-Ject for my first turntable. I was being cheap at the time and wanted something I thought would be dependable and packed with features, so I settled for an AT-LP120 (on sale for $230 at the time) Ignorant to the noisy platter, shoddy pre-amp, and iffy anti-skate. Now I've got a component I have to perform a dozen different mods on to get to the level of something I should have just payed an extra $70 for. Heck, I could've got a pretty nice vintage deck for that price. Oh well...
I got my turntable just to perform mods on it, I have nothing to listen apart from moms collection of classics and a scratched to death double record Beatles album...
Just as a fun FYI..... use a price tracking website for Amazon (I use camelcamelcamel) and you'll find some deals. I got my Debut Carbon, normally $399 for $325 because it was an "open box". When I got it at my house I was curious to see what was wrong with it since everything was packaged back up so nicely. It was was tiny spot on the platter that hadn't been painted black, maybe no bigger than a quarter of my thumbnail. I think I got my Audio Engine N22 amplifier in the same way. Normally $199, I got it for $140. In other words, save the full amount of money for what you're going to buy, and then wait a month or two to see if prices drop.
i cant decide between the espirit sb and rega planar 2. i like the pro ject but i heard there's hum issues, if im paying $600+ for a turntable i want it to be perfect.
nice stuff but very pricey . I still in my own opinion feel that vintage idler drive turntables are best . and all the extra accessories are too much money when it gets to be very reasonable around 150 to 200 dollars for a high end table then I might consider it . great gear and show thank you for posting and showing us what is around if you have lots of cash
Crap! I haven't owned a turntable or vinyl in two decades. Watching this makes me wants me want to own a turntable. Which would lead to buying vinyl. Crap!
@Analogu Planet. Bloody hell,...you sound such a mature and professional guy on the video but your language used in some of your comments is disgusting!!! My estimation of you has literally gone down to zero. Why not just take the spam/hateful comments on the chin man and rise above them!!!
@Analog Planet. Don't respond at all to them then. Besides,..this is the Internet after all and as soon as you post anything be it a video or comment on any form of social media then you are immediately putting yourself up on offer so must accept you're gonna get some hate. It goes with the territory, or call it an occupational hazard. Never mind the bible bit as that has no meaning to me but there's nothing wrong with turning the other cheek and rising above derogatory comments. Why come down to their level?? Oh well,...I've said my piece. Thanks.
