I like the fact that the song’s pace is continuously fast with lots of momentum. There’s no slow break down for the bridge that we normally expect from them.
I can understand why people wanted a more "neo" sound from them and expected something more dynamic, but if you listen to this song in the context of the entire album, it makes perfect sense. If you get a chance, I highly recommend listening to the album. It is a masterpiece. It gives classic 2000's r&b/hip hop while still sounding like 127.
I did get a chance to listen and overall I definitely enjoyed it. And yes like you said when you hear the album as a whole it definitely makes sense as well I will always support the boys the single choice was not what I was expecting but it was still great
Not sure if you watched the content they uploaded up to the release of the song? The whole 'Walk' concept was done so well and the title track fit the concept perfectly. I would say it's more attitude and a vibe than a statement this time. I totally 💚 it.
@rokmanreacts yep me too. That kind of build up towards a comeback (especially when SM does it) is one reason why I love kpop. But if they get it wrong it can leave you quite disappointed. The last NCT Dream comeback for example was a real let down for me. Those brilliant smalls concept films in dystopian setting for a sneak preview into the album, a great storyline and then we got Smoothie 😭😭
This is something new for them. In terms of sound. It takes me back to the early days for them early in their debut. Its a solid comeback and I actually like the fact that they went with this sound it has taken people by surprise. They Can do any genre and pull it off.💚💚💯 And the album is solid per usual. As for sales, That's all on SM and there lack of proper promotion Which includes making sure you have plenty of albums printed out. Czennies will make sure our 127 comeback is successful as we always do. 💚💚💚
This album feels like a culmination of their entire journey. They experimented and challenged themselves over 8 years and now they know what they want to do and how they want to sound. This album makes me excited for everything they are about to do 💚
@rokmanreacts only since 2021, but I have bought and listened to every 127 full and mini album. First kpop song I ever heard was Superhuman, but Sticker is what made me fall in love. The willingness to experiment and the talent to make it good.
@rokmanreacts thought of a better word than culmination. It's more of an encapsulation. It gives every other 127 song a context and a purpose for me and elevated their discography even higher than it already was for me.
I will also add, the Korean lyrics are sooooo clever. A lot gets lost in translation but the playfulness in the words is so fun and really suits the cheeky and laidback feeling they were going for. It may not be their most stand out title track but it has been an incredibly fun comeback, the first summer comeback we've had from them in awhile. The album as a whole.... wow. Some of my fav tracks they've ever done. Really enjoyed the thoughtful reaction, thank you! x
I think a reason why this album was different or unexpected is because groups in kpop will sometimes try out different things when members start to leave or depart to the military. Since Member dynamics are different when members leave, it's a chance to test out the group sound with a different selection of members...at least, that's what I assume
Thank you! "Dynamics"! That's a good word for what I was missing but couldn't put in words! Personally, I love melodies & if possible harmonies, so this comeback doesn't have enough dynamics for me even though - OFC - it's very good music. EDIT: Yes, record sales are going slightly down for established acts in Kpop while new acts are still able to increase their record sales. However, with the big increases over the last couple of years - and then also during the pandemic -, the big question was surely there: Where is the limit? It may be its zenith and/or just a break and/or a time of refocus. 🤷♀
i get your point, they usually have more changes in the song but i like a lil change tho, full hip hop song ? damn i'll take it haha the track on streaming platforms have taeyong voice! tho he is in military i think he recorded the album before going
There is a little ongoing discourse on which should’ve been the title track between Walk and Gas and how Walk does seem a little safe. Pls check out Gas! It’s more “neo.” My other favorites from the album are Intro Walk to Walk (which has an MV, amazing production, I think you’d enjoy it). Also Rain Drop and Can’t Help Myself if you want some r&b!
oh god thanks for the reaction, but the whole album is just so so good, and its the sec track of the album 1st one is wall to wall you should react for this one too and u get it why this one is like that and they said this time they try a new thing that they never did befor but tbh is a big hitt they ATE it thank u about album saling its all SM's fault thry wanna drag my babys down but they never can di this they have NCTzens aside them who foutgh for them
