Resellers literally ruined retro game hunting for me. True story: I use to hit up my local thrift stores all the time. If there was something I wanted, I picked it up. If it was something I owned or didn’t want (even if it was a “good deal”) I’d leave it behind. Then a few years back, I noticed people were starting to crowd me at the games, with their phones in hands, scanning every single game. I didn’t really understand at first but quickly caught on that people were checking the prices of games against their going rate online. Then these people grew in numbers, so much so that every time I went out, I’d see at least one person doing this. For shits and giggles, I once asked one of these dudes about a game he had in his hand, pretending that he actually wanted it. The dude literally knew nothing about video games. Not the genre, not the popularity, not a single thing. The last time I went out thrifting, I was literally elbowed out of the way so someone could grab all the games, move them to another location, and scan them at their own pace. If people think resellers don’t hurt the hobby, they are lying to themselves. Oh and also resellers do NOTHING for the community. In fact, they strip money out of the community by shifting it to silicon valley pockets. In other words, fuck resellers. All of them.
I remember i used to watch these resellers semi regularly for background noise until i really started watching and listening to how agressive and scummy they could be. Love the content man. Youre funny as hell
Me to, when I saw he (collectorluck) got like a really good deal still asking for lower price. I realize that's not a good thing. I used to enjoy his content a lot. "This dude can buy that much playstation game for below $100 and gain 700% profit, he has awesome skill and luck" I used to think like that, but I realized sometime he was using people ignorance and kindness.
4:54 why the hell is Wii Sports and Wii Sports Resort so expensive they are literally bundled with Wiis and are some of the most best selling Wii and even Nintendo games of all time. I know I know supply and demand and that is why Pokemon games are so expensive but you buy multiple Pokemon games for multiple save files or to multi shiny hunt or whatever. You only need one copy of Wii Sports
Basically any game on Wii that’s semi good is expensive. But Wii Sports is the most common game for nostalgia because everyone had it when they bought a Wii. That’s why a lot of the times you’ll see these resellers find two or three copies at the same yard sale. I wouldn’t pay more than $10 for Wii sports, which is why I don’t own it lol
Me personally I only need one copy of a Pokémon game because truthfully I don’t care about shinies never have, also if I wanna replay the game I erase the save file and start over. It’d be WAY too EXPENSIVE if I wanted every single version of every single generation of Pokemon. I get the 1 version and I’m personally good. Especially with the 3DS eShop shutting down the 3DS Pokemon games are going to skyrocket if they already haven’t.
Surprised early on with Pro Picker when he picks up that Hetalia DVD, he doesn't show what it goes for on eBay (probably not much, it sold quite well and has been in-print for ages), then doesn't go "You got any more anime?" He has to know how much certain anime releases go for if he's truly an experienced reseller. Amusing when you see a clueless reseller.
Sometimes I like watching your videos. When I'm feeling miserable, because then I know someone is even more miserable, and it does make me feel a bit better. So thank you, it's much appreciated.
My heart dropped when I saw that copy of Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Explorers of Sky. I've been wanting to add it into my collection since I sold mine as a kid, one of my biggest regrets, and because of these fuckers I can't find a cheap copy anywhere. It makes me sad that a lot of people won't experience that game because physical copies don't exist, and with the WiiU eshop being closed, they can't experience it that way. At least there are emulators out there but still. It's a bad time to be a collector thanks to these asshats.

I understand the frustration with resellers but it’s sort of goofy too…these large corporations are literally doing the same thing. Except the poor they’re ripping off are in another country. They buy in bulk, and their margins are ridiculous. And yet ppl shop them willingly like they’re totally appropriate. Resellers are literally just a smaller scale version of this and get demonized. It’s annoying. Have fun shopping at the ultimate resellers, Walmart/Target/BestBuy/Amazon/GameStop for all your games when you can always get them cheaper from resellers. 🤷🏻♂️
I’ll add…everyone hates on resellers until they got a game you want and suddenly you’ll trade/sell them anything to get it. So when they have something you want, you’ll give them money?? Even though you hate and disagree with how they work? No integrity.
@@mjretrogamer4819 Definition of Monopoly: the exclusive possession or control of the supply of or trade in a commodity or service. Literally impossible for disconnected resellers to achieve this. You know who can? Corporations. And they do. Often. Hell, it’s going on in gaming right now with Microsoft’s aim to purchase Activision/Blizzard. That deal has been looked over with a fine tooth comb for this reason.

Generally someone collects by buying low then uses there giant collection they’ve compiled (personal AND some for flipping) to open a shop. Then what? Customers come sell them stuff for like 30% value so they can RESELL it to you. Are they scum bags? Are they ruining the hobby? Is it only ok when you have a brick and mortar, with employees?? No one can make a living for themselves doing this, or else they’re a scumbag?? That silver ps2 controller is nice. I bought a sealed jungle green ps3 controller for $45, eBay listings was $150 average at the time. Glad I got there before anyone else (resellers)
Pro picker and his wife are total scumbags. A friend of mine went to a garage sale and dudes wife legit pulled video games out of his hands. My friend turned his back and they snatched stuff out of his pile of stuff. I had my own run in with them at an estate sale where I picked up a dvd that they wanted and they pitched an absolute fit that they grabbed the others but I got the “valuable one”.

you're very wrong with what you think yard sales and thrift stores purpose is. Yard sales are to get rid of stuff, it not to sell stuff to the poor...never even heard of that before. Thrift stores are FOR PROFIT stores, some use the profit to support their mission goals, but they are FOR PROFIT. They sell things at the highest possible price and they do not care if you are rich or poor. Goodwill is a money making machine, if you think they are for the poor then you should investigate before making such statements. EVERYTHING about the Goodwill is about profit and they use some of the profit to teach job skills. Their purpose is NOT to provide for the poor.
Maybe they’re not for poor people where you live but they’re certainly for less fortunate where I live. Either way, you can’t say I’m wrong and I can’t say you’re wrong because Yard Sales can mean different things to different people. And if you walk around the flea markets where I live, you’ll see that the majority of people are poor.
Regardless what that price chart said. Mystery dungeon is NOT a $100 game. You can find it at most game stores under $50. I like the game a little, but I haven't bought it because its not a good enough game for $50. Hardly anybody liked it because its not really a pokemon game. Its an isekai story were you wake up as a pokemon the game chooses for you and you rescue pokemon from dungeons. For the most part, you dont keep the pokemon you save. You gain 2 "partners" and thats it. Its honestly boring if you're not into board games and tactics games. Its more like digimon than pokemon. All of the pokemon have full blown dialogue and its a bit off-putting. Not a single human in the game and all the pokemon live in houses. I know people say pokemon is a kids game, but red looks like a T rating in comparison to mystery dungeon. Its a decent game, but if you pay $100 for it, youre an idiot. If you want it THAT bad, get it a vintage stock for $40. The experience is only worth $20. I'd rather find it in a $10 bin at walmart. Its been there a lot. This guy KNOWS that too. He probably goes and buys all the good ones so kids cant play them. Peice of shit.
I love vcrs. Ive bought and sold a few of them, i never shipped electronics on ebay because too much shit can happen and anyone can file a false claim to get their money back. So the way i do it is i sell all my electronic items on marketplace, and ill sell it for half or more of what it goes for on ebay. If i make a few bucks I'm happy, and i want someone to get something they want for a fantastic deal. For example. If i buy a vcr for 7$, and its selling on ebay for 70$. I'll list it locally for 45$ and the first one to offer me 35-40$ takes it. They get a great deal and i get a good deal. there's no need for me to ask full on retail for it. Im a casual reseller from being out of work for two years dealing with worsening health issues and a surgery...and honestly most of my stuff i sell is from around the house. Very rarely do i go to thrift to look for stuff. Usually i go to thrift to find work jeans for my wife and some stuff for my son. And maybe shirts for me. I do collect cds too though so i always look for myself. And books for my wife. And i like cool coffee mugs and pint glasses and such. I fucking hate these scumbag resellers... Some of these resellers probably secretly pay random people to fake sell to them so they can make these type of videos. I bet some go to a yard sale with there own items and tell the people running the yard sale can I throw you up $25 to act like I bought these items here for videos I make on RU-vid.

Dawg I have these types of debates in the comment section all of the time and I’m just not up for having it today lol. In this case we’re talking about people buying video games full time for cheap and flipping them to the next guy for profit. There’s so many of them these days that it’s pretty impossible for people to find these games in the wild. My issue with Game resellers is they’ve ruined the fun of game hunting for people that just want the games. All of your references to Walmart, Amazon, GameStop and Dealerships is different. Those companies operate on a larger scale and don’t ruin the experience of buying items. That’s why they’re called retail and what resellers do is called flipping/reselling. Obviously retail companies are resellers, I’ve never disputed that or denied it.
And I’ve said before that I don’t mind people flipping games as a casual thing. But when you do it full time you curve the market. We’re talking on a major scale here like Phoenix Resale and the two guys in this video. Plus they promote reseller culture by making their videos and create more resellers in the market through inspiration. They make it worse.

Iilluminaughtii being canceled is due to her going after Legal Eagle, an actual Lawyer who makes RU-vid content, on copyright infringement over publicly available plug-ins for a video editor. This caused her former colleagues to say how a horrible person Iilluminaughtii is. In response, she made a hit piece on her former collaborators in disguised of an apology video to Legal Eagle - she made false insinuations that one of the former colleagues was cheese pizza friendly and another one as mentally unsound- she even exposed the collaborator's unalive letter. This happened almost two months ago. Now, another RU-vidr made a video on Iilluminaughtii and interviewed her ex through e-mail on how abusive she was when they were dsting.
Bash their practices of lying to people, negotiating when the price is phenomenal, and nagging people for early access. The entire world is built upon reselling. Bashing reselling as a whole comes across as ignorant.
@@steviefreakinc Prices aren't always great! A seller may have to sit on an item for months before it sells. That money doesn't magically get recouped.
@@XtraBees You're absolutely correct. So the two things I have to say in regards to that is 1. Lower the price and it will sell faster and you'll still be in the green. And 2. If they have to sit on an item for a while, they can't accurately say I'll make this much off of the games I found in this video. Because the market changes in both directions.

Sometimes it seems like some of these resellers wanna frame the people they buy this stuff from as 'Suckers' or something (like it's a high for 'em). Especially the way they don't bother to blur their images or anything from their vids. If you get a huge deal, great, awesome, you do more meth and woke up earlier than most, but leave the people that you jacked out of the vids. Just a suggestion. =) Or maybe I'm wrong and it's just a slight oversight. =)

I’ve met Collector’s Luck in real life…he’s pretty gross. Even saw his collection. It’s impressive, if you’re impressed by game collections. He’s an odd cat. I would look at what I thought was neat and he’d try and put some other game in my face like “Yea but look at THIS though” and of course it’s like a several hundred dollar game. It was very cringe. His content is disgusting.
