He not only changed blocking schemes, he changed the way offenses are structured. He's the reason why left tackles are so valuable and can go #1 overall in the draft.
LT is the best defensive player in NFL history, and he’s arguably the best player in NFL history. He changed 2 positions outside linebacker and offensive tackle
I grew up in Williamsburg Virginia went to Lafayette high school best friends with LT nephew. LT was crying like a baby after he broke Joe Thiesmond’s leg. He cared about everyone and never wanted to do any wrong! He is a good heated human and I love him to this day. He may have faults, who doesn’t! Looking at the overall picture, he was greater than me and who am I to judge?
"I don't think that works for crack" lol The Scope was to cover his breath. But I'm old and was a Redskins fan he was the best. The entire offense had to run away from him. I was at the game when he broke Theismanns leg so we couldn't see how bad it was.
Great reaction...Most of the NY Giants games were shown in primetime because of what LT was doing to the other teams offense. LT is beyond great NFL defensive players and all of the greats know that.
A guy from my HS went to school with him, I use to go to the games at UNC. Buddy Curry's pop use to take me to the games when I was 12 yrs old and after the game I would go in the lockeroom. That dude was the most fearsome dude I ever been around.
Best defensive player of all time hands down. Not even a question. How good would he have been sober? I would say Ray Lewis and Deion Sanders would be up there somewhere also.
2 things about this cracks me up.... One, him in 'The Waterboy' (yes the Adam Sandler movie) telling the kids "Don't do crack". And two, 'Any Given Sunday' the character he played isn't far off from his real life. Great react!! Check out the Tampa Bay Buccaneers defense late 90s early 2000s. I'm sure there's a video about them. That defense made way for their first superbowl win!!
I can tell there are a lot of younger guys commenting on here...No one has mentioned Ronnie Lott the man who amputated one of his fingers so he wouldn't miss a game, Larry Allen the strongest player in the NFL, Eric Dickerson the running back that still holds the single season rushing record, and Darryl Green.
@@Sammyboi-to4ou I don't see how that's possible, he certainly spent enough time telling everyone how great he was, loud enough for near everyone to hear it. Too bad he could back that mouth up... and then some. The ability to completely shut down any receiver not named Jerry Rice does not belong on someone with that much ego.
I love Ray Lewis but hands down LT was is and will always be the best most destructive defensive player in the history of the NFL. Even Ray Lewis will tell you this.
While i love the high-flying, primetime positions on offense, i can't help but love amazing defensive players, since i grew up with some amazing players as my idols when i started playing Football.
Bro I love your videos, I’d love to see you react to “Barry Sanders” he was an amazing running back (Greatest Ever) played for the Detroit lions, trust me, Joseph Vincent has a documentary on him 💯💯💯
You have got to watch the compilations of LT rushing the quarterback, and another of him stuffing the run, and of him at the 1 yard line. He had it all, the speed, the strength, the quickness, and the football IQ/instincts. One thing to keep in mind when reading his sacks stats, is that he played in an era when most teams were rushing instead of passing, most of the time, so those sacks were accomplished during the few plays when QBs were passing!
Not quite, in his time it was a fairly clean split between passing and rushing. Rushing was the go-to when you needed to make the play and certainly was more common than it is now. True enough though, most teams were rushing instead of passing when playing against him.
Lawrence was the most dominant linebacker ever to play the game. Ever. Given all his reported and well-chronicled issues with drug abuse, just imagine what he might have accomplished had he been clean all those years and how many more years he might have played? Also something to note is that most of the other guys you've covered were coveted as the next Lawrence Taylor -- this includes Ray Lewis and even Troy Polamalu. This guy was crazy good and could dominate an entire game, disrupting everything an offense might try.
hey man love the video!!! if you know who bill bellichick is, he was the defensive coach or something i can’t remember and he used to say LT would always sleep during film study and he and bill parcels (HOF headass coach) would allow it because of how good LT was. LT told bill bellichick he would know the play every single down. if the QB comes out nervous looking at LT, it’s a pass. if he’s fine and cool it’s a run. GREATEST DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF ALL TIME
Believe me - he was out to knock the snot out of everybody. Opponents - especially those big linemen who had to block him - confessed to having sleepless nights in the days before facing him. He was a first ballot hall of famer, one of the only two defensive players in NFL history to be the league MVP, and was on two winning Super Bowl teams. Look up videos for "Lawrence Taylor run defense", and the same for "goal line defense" and "fumbles." He is remembered for being a master at rushing/tackling the quarterback, but he was so much more - a complete player. He had a dark side to him as well - drugs and alcohol during and after his playing days - and he might have been even better (a scary thought) and had a longer career had he taken better care of his body and mind.
Tray, I wouldn't doubt the beer, mouthwash or crack comments, period (of course he didn't slam beers consecutively in a row). He was my idol when i was in high school and as a Lions fan, I watched every Giants game possible which was limited in the 80's because of coverage and living in MI. I read every article I could find about the Giants for LT content. He not only changed the ways NFL teams prepared offenses before playing against him, he changed the ways teams coached defenses and especially LB positions from the NFL to Peewee ball, he changed the game!! IMO, there's never been a more fiercely capable and passionate player. I'm also a huge Singletary fan but, he ain't LT, nobody is!!! He's not only the LB GOAT, he's thee GOAT!!!
As a lifelong Giants fan, I was at a game about 15 years ago and our defense was playing like dogshit. Someone yelled "Get LT a dime bag and suit him up, nobody is tackling!!"
Sad truth with so many of the original tough guys like LT, drugs and football went hand and hand. Stuff to get up for the game and stuff to come down after. I remember reading a biography about Lyle Alzado talking about the "bowl of reds" in the locker room that were there for anyone needing a boost for the game. The commentary from the main character in the movie "North Dallas 40" about "taking stuff harder than that (marijuana) just to get onto the field" is true. Everything from performance enhancing drugs to pain killers (some now illegal) was the order of the day back then.
watching him was like watching something from the movies... IF he did this hungover/drunk or on drugs... would he be better sober? he was the best cause he had teams 1- afraid 2- change the whole game plan around him 3- changing blocking styles.. linemen today dont do 3pt stance anymore cause he was too fast and they couldnt get up fast enough. 4- like they said in the video dont piss him off 5- couldnt handle his freakish speed and strength 6- till this day teams still say were looking for the next LT!
Dude you just witnessed it with your own eyes that it worked. LT had a habit but he also knew he had a job to do out there. He never let his teammates down not even when he was hurt.
1A LT... he changed the game..1B...The minister of defense, Reggie White...That hump move of his was devastating...threw grown men around like they were inflatable mannequins
League MVP 1986 Defensive rookie of the year 1981 Defensive player of the year 1981,1982,1986 Bert Bell award 1986 10 pro bowls 9 first team all pro selections And if that wasn't enough 2 super bowl rings
As to the hosts comment, "who was the greatest defensive player in the history of the game?"...might want to divide that one into sections: defensive linemen, linebacker and secondary. Reggie White, Joe Green and Tim Krumrie would likely have to be included in the list for great defensive linemen. LT has been mentioned for linebackers, Dick Butkus, Ray Lewis, Jack Lambert, would all likely have to be included in that group. Secondary guys would likely include Jack Tatum, Lester Hayes, Mike Haynes, Jon Lynch and Deion Sanders.
Great question who to start your team with on D out of all the guys u react to is stuff but i got to go with LT he changed the game in multiple ways. But was he high off coke the whole time?
What you said at 9:44...That's what Parcels had going through his head for years. He can do whatever he wants as long as he shows up to play and dominates.
Honestly he could be considered the best football player ever, not just defensive player but overall the best to ever play. The man was a freak of nature, I think there are several in competition for the GOAT of the sport, Barry Sanders is another one. It's just nuts how talented these guys were. Bo Jackson as well. Had he been able to have an actual career probably would be considered the GOAT honestly though
You know how everyone loves watching offense..well watching L.T. was like watching offense..You just sit back on every play to see what L.T. would do...I 💘 watching him play..He is my favorite of all time..He was insanely great!
Check out Ronnie Lott. Dude opted to amputate a finger so wouldn't need surgery. Because he didn't want to miss a game. Hard hitter from 49ers to Raiders later.
