Joe is one of those guys that knows a little bit about everything. if you’re not an expert, he can give you reasonably good information but if that’s your obsession, he’s going to say things that aren’t 100% correct for sure. But I think for the most part, he gets it right enough to be incredible. In this case he said enough accurate things to not look like an idiot on the subject.

Great video and a perfect breakdown of Rogan's podcast. Folks I started following Piet for 2 years now, with ZERO regrets. His content is both informative and entertaining. Hell if not for Piet, I never would have looked at a 6.5 Creed. I am now running a Tikka T3X with a Vortex 3x15. Hogs, dogs, and deer don't stand a chance. My full setup was around 2k (ish, but don't tell the wife) and it's smooth as the butter I baste the hogs in. Piet you're awesome, Rock on Man 🤘😎

I learned about 4 box breathing to help with some medical issues i have... It's been VERY helpful with my long range game. Pretty simple. 4 second stages: In - Hold - Out - Hold. Do it a few times then take a shot at 4 sec hold after 4 sec out. Your blood is super O2 saturated.

It was probably a simplification, but interestingly enough it's not the wind "pushing" the bullet to the side, as Ryan Litz tried to explain. It's the bullet not flying perfectly straight any more, naturally pointing more and more against the wind as it flies, which adds the horizontal part to the drag vector as it's not only pulling the bullet straight back, but a little bit in the wind direction 🤯

On my last trip to SA I had 9 perfect shots and 1 where a Blesbuck turned from broadside to quartering to as I was pulling the trigger. It happens and at 450yds it leads to a less than perfect impact.

Rogan is good at unintentional comedy. Firing squads are usually all live ammo with one guy shooting blanks. In many cases globally it's several dudes with AKs mowing a guy down. Check the Ceucesco(?) footage, think anybody had blanks?

Sometimes I check the wind speed with my meter. It's critical and people depend on it. When your AC isn't working right you might have a guy like he check your airflow velocity with one of those. Make sure that's good. Crossover tool. :)

I also admire Joe Rogan. I will differ with him on one thing, though. I have read the books of three different snipers. One was in the Rangers 1/75 and the other was in the Rangers 3/75. And one was a Marine Scout Sniper. As well as an interview with a Navy SEAL sniper (retired.) Most times, the great distances like a 1 mile or more, is in training. Many military snipers continue training between active combat duty deployments. However, in theater, most engagements are less than 600 yards, actually, 90 percent less than 300 yards. One of those snipers, shooting a .300 Win Mag, could dial elevation out to 500 yards and then hold left or right edge of target zone into the wind and make a hit. Most importantly Joe was saying that they snipers were targeting the head shot at 1,000 yards or more. And that is just not accurate., Instruction and training is to aim for center mass of an IPSC target.

Hey Piet I’m a newbie American to long range shooting, I grew up hunting and know the basics of shooting but have been wanting to get into PRS, do you have or could you make a video on a good cartridge to start out with and build? I have the classic 223 hunting rifle and 30-06 but I want to build something incredible that can take me to 1000+m but still good for 200-500m hunting. I don’t have all the money in the world 😂 but willing to spend a good amount

I first heard the “some had blanks” in a firing squad from my father decades ago, but even at that young age it was obvious to me that an experienced shooter (who should have been chosen for the squad in the first place) would know if he’d had a live round. And as others have pointed out, the claim was that only one member had a blank, not only one of five members had a live round. If some of the gruesome stories were true about the poor marksmanship of firing squads in some incidences, they certainly wouldn’t have wanted to leave the job up to one guy. The other thing that never gets discussed is how would the one gun get loaded with a blank cartridge without the shooter knowing it. It’s conceivable, I suppose, but someone would have to know who had what rounds. I’m reminded of a ridiculous tale by a former Navy SEAL who claimed he went on a very realistic training exercise thinking it was a real mission despite their weapons supposedly being loaded with some sort of marking rounds rather than real ammunition, and which they didn’t discover until the end of the exercise.

I'm diving in early with this comment, addressing the firing squad portion of the clip. It was all shooters with live ammunition save one blank round. The purpose was that any of the one men struggling internally with the duty could in good conscience absolve themselves of the guilt declaring within themselves, that they had the blank round. Also, within the squad of duty officers selected for the firing squad, it was expressly forbidden and taboo to discuss further more whom believed they had the blank and whom did not, as it was in effect forbidden and taboo to discuss the duty in its entirety. That is where I draw my conclusion to the discussion as I completed a Senior High School assessment on the matter when the reintroduction of the death penalty entered discussions in parliament and the media here in Australia some years ago.

Firing squads had 4 of 5 with live ammo. Of course you're right. No or very, very felt recoil with no projectile.

Isn't aerodynamic jump basically spindrift but in the vertical plane and is caused by the crosswind causing gyro precession on the bullet? Likewise Isn't Eotvos effect caused by the centrifugal force of Earth making the round want to go higher or lower than planned.
