They make it look so easy, these guys are unreal!

i had no idea that you can do this with skim boards i had a wooden one that i just skimmed on the sand with and got bored with it but for some reason it never crossed my mind that i should go straight into the waves and ride them, now i want to buy a new skim board immediately this looks soooo fun

I remember when my friend was able to skimboard along the wet sand, put his hand down on one side and rotate around 360 degrees. He was like the man. Skimboarding has come a long ways.

I was once asked to describe surfing. I was born and raised in Huntington Beach and surfed/fished from there to Newport Beach. Surfing is about experiencing the perfect day. It's the rare day when the sand, the breeze, the sun, the water, the people you are with, the waves and temperature are absolutely perfect. There is no experience like the perfect day. These days were very few. But when you experience this there will never be a day in your life like it. Anyone who surfs and reads this will know exactly what I mean. What memories these videos bring back. There is nothing that compares to my younger years at the beach.

It's just amazing how skim boarding has taken on a new dimension. Never thought they would ride the shoulder of a wave at shorebreak. Crazy wipeouts, cause so shallow.

Even been to the east coast? Dewey beach, “skimboard capital” so they say. Double overhead shore break, 200 yard flats on a sandy bottom. They pulled the jetties years ago and changed the topo. Now we skim.

Having no fins on the bottom for stability is a huge challenge and is another reason this kind of SBing is so badass. I think that must be why the enter the wave with a wrap around and also why the crouch down while approaching. Amazing.

Don’t know about the ballerina part but “Blairisnikov” is dang sure a “BOSS” on a skim board. Timing your run and glide so you slide into those shore breaks sideways and then crank turns like those is NEXT LEVEL buy anyone’s standard. The boys were indeed “on fire!” Shaka!

I can't remember exactly what year it was right of the top of my head but around 1993. I caught my everyday morning session from 6-10am solo at Aliso almost exactly like this. 4 hours alone probably....not joking...200 driving in and outs. Like every single wave until I was pretty much totally spent crawling up the slope. Finally at 10 will wittman showed up and I broke out my camera and got the sesh of his life on hi8. Wish someone would have been there for me. Cause it was All Time barrels. And I'm not afraid to admit nobody drove f****** tubes like I did.... You'd have mouths wide open jaw on the floor had someone have filmed me. Blair is obscene. Great sesh

In 2000 surf magazines editor said I was 1 out of 3 known people in the world to surf a skim board. Unfortunately I shattered both my legs because I was a pro motocross racer. Which I trained in skim boarding for motocross. I could cry because I can’t run anymore. Y’all are amazing.❤️

IM 70 yrs old started skimboarding in 196? , using a piece of 3/8" plywood coated with marine varnish at Zuma Beach, Ca. Things have changed a little
