I was born and raised in Chicago, but after working 12 years in the financial Industry regulating the futures and options markets at the CME/CBOT I decided to pursue my passion fishing professional tournaments and left my full time corporate job. At that point, I moved to Junction City, WI with my wife Sara and two boys Hank and Duke. I've been fishing professionally since 2011 and full-time since 2015. I've qualified for six MLF Championships and won roughly a half million in tournament winnings at the professional level.

The power/punch shot is the most effective way to punch baits that have appendages or ribbontails, that have a thicker or shorter tail (like the power worm or dead ringer), that otherwise would be too much of a headache to punch with. I see you're doing good @ Lacrosse and that Miles is in 1st in group A after yesterday! Good luck and stay safe today!

There was a BU tip that I’ve had success with: power shot a 1oz cylinder weight and a stick worm/Senko in Milfoil clumps. You can cover a ton of water and get a reaction bite or give it one or two shakes and pitch again. Very efficient.

I lean on the Tokyo rig in those situations but I have used 17 test on my drop shot a lot, really liking the tips here, gonna have to give that a shot too !!

Makes sense to me. Plus i like saying..... POWER SHOT. I can see this working well in some inland lakes by the house. Nice strong 2 days on the river..... finish strong. Thanks for the vid.

Great tip Matt. My brother uses the power shot a lot while fishing up in Colorado, when the bite is tough. He’s had great results.

Good video Matt. I use that technique here in the north country too, the PNW. An EWG hook, a heavier weight than my normal drop shot. Beaver style bait. Yep. Works great. ✌🏻🎣

Great tip as always, Matt! I actually was planning to try this about a year ago, but got on the water and always forget about it. I could also see where this would work at night, with a short leader like Tokyo rig.
