My issue is I'm using this FORE Midi to Usb Interface(which is just a cable) I can't seem to get it to work with protools, I'm using a Yamaha P-250 and a roland RD-100.I have my Midi IN in the Midi OUT on the keyboards like it instructed, I have my instrument track set up with plug in enabled, record enabled. I can edit the midi track and manually get a sound with my mouse tool, but not from either keyboard. I'm at a loss at this point.

Hello, I just got an Alesis midi keyboard the other day and Pro Tools First isn't seeing the input. I have the USB connection and I can see that everything has been downloaded when I check for it in my settings/devices, yet it still doesn't see it. I've watched every video there is to watch on youtube about the issue and I've had no luck!

Hey, I have a bit of an odd problem. I'm using an Axiom 25 First Gen midi controller over USB with Pro-Tools first. I'm following you step by step and the keyboard works, but only for a few seconds at a time and with a lot of force needed on the keys. For example, using Xpand!2 and the pop drum kit, I can hit a few keys and get some drum and symbol sounds, but I have to hit the keys absurdly hard for any sound, and after 5 or so seconds, the sound stops completely. And then comes back a few seconds later. It's very puzzling

Quick search indicates that others have experienced similar problems with the Axiom 25 and Pro Tools, especially on Mac. Are you using Mac? I'm having some trouble connecting my motif 7 to pro tools...I downloaded the driver, I'm on a Mac book pro mid 2012 with the Apollo x4, and the motif is showing up as checked off in the set up-midi- input devices menu.However, I'm not getting signal into the instrument track, record enabled or not. What am I missing?

This is strange for me. I'm using the Novation launch key 61 mk2. Everything is plugged in, the latest drivers are installed, I did the peripherals, the boxes are checked in just like you showed, and still, it is not working!!! Does somebody have this issue as well?

thanks for the post.. but nope.. they are ticked on mine. Driving me mad. The keyboard even works in the stand-alone NI programs and shows up everywhere it should, but no go. I am really beginning to hate protools.

Hey! Thanks for your videos, they are so helpful! However, I'm still struggling to connect my keyboard, would you perhaps know what the problem is? I'm using a Yamaha PSR E423 (regular) keyboard, but I was told I should be able to use it as a midi keyboard. It's plugged directly into my laptop since it only has a USB port. My laptop is detecting the keyboard, but whenever I open ProTools it's just not detecting it. Do you think I should install a driver to be able to use it or could it be something else?

That keyboard does have USB midi connection so it should work. Yes, I would try installing the Yamaha USB Midi Driver as shown in my video then try it. If that doesn't work, check the description for a video called "Midi Keyboard won't work"

under midi input enable my two options say (Emulated) do you know what this means?

In my case the piano is okay but it plays only one note at a time. Do you how I can change that ?

Hi Nana, I'd probably need more information. But if it's playing only one note at a time, that's called monophony, or monophonic. There's two main reasons this could be happening, 1) your keyboard is in monophonic mode, 2) your instrument plugin in Pro Tools is in monophonic mode or you've chosen a monophonic instrument. If the problem is 1), then you'll need to go through your keyboard settings and change it to polyphonic mode. If the problem is 2) then you'd need to do the same thing, or choose a different plugin that allows polyphony. Hope that helps!

it didn't help ufortunately... Pro Tools "sees" the keyboard, but it's still doesn't show in input menu on my instrument track

I'd need more information. Which Brand/Model of keyboard, which kind of connection (USB, 5 pin MIDI), which kind of interface, which kind of track/plugin?

I'm using a NektarSE25 on Pro Tools On Midi Input Enable, It reads "MidiIn2 (SE25) {Emulated}" and a second one "SE25 {Emulated} I Click on "SE25" I play a note and I get no audio and no midi response when recording is enabled If I click with the mouse in the piano roll I get audio

Is there a way to record into a microphone and have it come out onto the keyboard in notation within ProTools?

Not directly as far as I know, but I'm sure there's a a plugin for that. Sibelius might be a better program for music notation though.

One thing I've sometimes experienced is that Pro Tools will only "see" a USB keyboard if it's been plugged in before Pro Tools is launched. You can't turn the keyboard on after Pro Tools is already open. Could that be worth a try?

It's really just an issue on my Studio. My laptop saw everything.....my computer even has issue using Omnisphere which is extremely annoying as installing it on my laptop years ago was smooth. I'll have to do some investigating cuz Ableton also isn't responding to my giant keyboard but it sees it
