You can also create another Aux track that all your tracks and busses are routed to and then feed that into the SubMaster (or MixBus as I label it). This allows you to create volume automation that will hit your compressor on the SubMaster. So during choruses for example, you can automate the aux track level going into the SubMaster to hit the compressor a little harder to get some more aggression.

Listen up all you Ditherers. This is important. If you are learning how to record WavyWayne is the place to go. I’ve been pouring over the internet for years and I can tell you from a point of wisdom that there are countless mixers, masterers and ditherers that have infinite knowledge of recording but there are very few teachers. It's normal to use master to adjust the level. Because Protools use 32 bit floating point mixer since 2016. You can experiment with this. Generate 0 dbFS signal on track, set channel fader to +10 and master fader to -10. And it wiil be OK on the output. You should only care to prevent overload on master, because it will provide distortion in DAC.

I only turn my master fader down At very end of my mix for mastering. I will watch over all levels and try to say between 3-6db etc. for headroom so normally turn MF down -2 threw -4db

Why I can not change the output Of my masterfader ?? It's says "none" and all my other tracks are on "Output 1-2", but when i leftclick on the masterfade I havce no other option then "none" or "bus from 1 -24" !! Can somebody help me with this please ?? Thx.

Hey Wavy wane how are you? To be honest, I trule did not even understand how you are really using the volume levels up and down on Master fader? In my case, I record my songs on already created tracks... So for me, I have 2 main tracks... One: The main sound track and Second: My own vocals... Now... Why would I need the master fader in my case when I have my EQ, Compressor, etc done rightly? Please, I need to know about it so I take care of it in my future, mixes. Thank you so much for this video, though. (btw, I use Pro Tools First).

Hey Wav i made scratch session tracks pulled the good parts turned them from10 minutes to a five minute song structure cut splice and add it to its own track in the original ptx session file. All on screen faders don't work, frozen, non workable visibly. A billion videos and not one about this common protools fact or fix. What do I do now?
