Top 8 berths are on the line as Jiachen Tao and Kentaro Yamamoto square off in Modern with their Eldrazi and Through the Breach decks, respectively, at Pro Tour Oath of the Gatewatch.
Couldn't Cheon have used his Blinkmoth's ability to survive instead of spending the Galvanic Blast as well? Just giving it +1/+1 would've saved the 1 damage he prevented by killing the Swiftspear.
Am I missing something with the 'get someone to shake hands' euphemism? I'm assuming it means 'to win', but I would hope you would shake hands whether you win or lose.
+delryn256 It's usually the loser that initiates the handshake, it could be considered bad manners for the winner to do it, but also cuz only the loser can be 100% sure the match is over. Many times people actually don't say the words "I have lost" but just extends the hand to show they have been defeated, thereby the expressions "get the handshake", meaning win and "extends the hand" admitting defeat. This also helps when people don't speak the same language. But yes, you should always shake hands after a match, even if it was a frustrating loss. Edit: Though after finishing watching the last bit I get that you were referring to the draw. In that case it's just that shaking hand is all they'll do, they won't play a game since they want the intentional draw.
+Keyarchan Ah I see. The language thing makes the most sense. Still, it seems like a long winded way for the commentators to say 'win a game'. Maybe they can shorten it to 'get a shake' :)
Like the Most diverse pro Tour Field you can get 😂😂😂😂😂 Lol 6 Eldrazi, 2 Affinity in the Top 8. soooo diverse! But keep in mind: In the interest of competitive diversity, Splinter Twin is banned from Modern.
+Deja Entendu Twin isn't even fast enough to make keep this deck in check. With "0" interaction , with all cards in hand, elves can win at the absolutely fastest on turn three with a swing for 24. Could even be easily be blocked with a first turn eye into 2 drop second turn 3-4 drop.. yea one of those lands needs to go.
I had this crazy idea that commentators could commentate the fucking game that i'm watching and is in front of them, not the table next to them... Literally commentating the table next to them, entire game. Also I would of LOVED to see what Kentaro had in his hand at least ONCE throughout this video. Seriously guys? Rest of production was awesome, but this ONE game was done shittily, everytime it was kentaro's turn you just put up a picture of Jace vrynn prodigy where his hand is suppose to be shown, or serum visions etc... for his ENTIRE turn. WTF? I really was hoping to know what Kentaro had in his hand this game.
Maynard should have had multiple game losses throughout his play. You can't just "take back" plays. Slow the fuck down, and think things through. You can't declare attacks, go "oops" untap evereything, then cast a spell, then reattack. This is top level magic, not table-top. God..
GollyGoshSensation A possible extra land if you're on the draw and its in your opener at the cost of a card in your hand. It's a 2 for one on yourself and if you werent on the draw or didnt have it in your opening hand on the draw its just a wastes. I could be wrong though but it seemed bad to me. The deck itself went pretty far. But id say thats because of the deck and its pilot lol
+steven Claessen It's the same idea as they Leylines. You throw in playsets so you do draw them in your opening hand as much as possible. It's still a colourless land even if you don't get it in the opening hand so it's not entirely useless.
GollyGoshSensation well statistically you still wont open them all that much, i understand the idea of it though. In any case, i could be wrong, I'll wait and see if more ppl start playing it and if it works out. I just think it can be dangerous 2 for 1'ing yourself with all the thought not seers and other hand disruption out there.
+steven Claessen Statistically Fetch lands don't thin your deck as much as people make it out but people still do it. It may be worse more than it is better but people like those odds and play them. I do see where you are coming from, it can't be for everyone I guess.
Both of you are wrong. He accidentally put the creature who died to the Spatial Contortion in his exile, then realized it a couple seconds later and put it in his graveyard.
@@Nayasworld200 Nope, the Ornithopter was exiled with Relic after it hit the bin, the next time he activated it he just exiled the ornithopter a second time.
No, Wasteland Strangler puts Ornithopter back from exile into Pascals graveyard, so no cheating happening there. The tapping to attack and then taking it back is kind of an edge case.. since he never let go of the vault skirge before untapping it.. I know that poker has strict rules if you pretend to fold, hoping to see the other players' reaction, and then taking it back, is cheating.. so in that world it is cheating, so that could be one or the other depending on who you ask.
