Great instruction Mark…. This is a very timely video 4 me ! I started playing 2 years ago at 66 years old ! LOL! The timing and proper sequence of my swing, the change all the time! LOL! I’m still looking 4 consistency at the range with each club…. BUT, thanks 2U….. I now know…. I’ve been looking in the wrong place ! LOL! If it ever stops rain here in the San Francisco Bay Area….. I can’t wait 2 try this on the range ! Thanks again!

What do you think about strong grips? the guy who gives me lessons got me to use this neutral grip and a few other tweaks. to start with i lost 50 yards on my 8iron, like from 150 to 100. sure give it a few months of trying managed to get back to 130yards 6 weeks later but topping a lot. today i decided to go back to a strong grip and still use his tweaks. i was back to 150 yards and smashing everyone out of the middle of the face with draw. might be a good um for your second channel. i feel bad now because it is like i m playing bad golf.
@Iamwrongbut
@Iamwrongbut Год назад
Not sure how a grip change can make you lose 50 yds. It mainly changes face angle at impact, not swing speed so if you hit is flush it should go just as far
@AlastairBarker
@AlastairBarker Год назад
smashing everyone out the face at the range isnt the same as one at a time when you play... you have to work there is no easy fix....
@pmportella
@pmportella Год назад
@@Iamwrongbut i am a caster, if i use a weaker grip i tend to almost cast? or not hit down enough. so yeah the stronger grip allows me to hit down more as my hands are past the ball while the face is at the ball. @alastair, i have to agree. smashing out of a carpet vr grass is 2 diferent things
@asapherd1879
@asapherd1879 Год назад
@@Iamwrongbut it can cause you to have an open face at impact and flip at the ball. you can easily turn an 8 iron into the loft of a PW with flipping and open clubface.

change of grip would of been changing face angle and loft delivery resulting in distance lose.

Great video Mark - this will help so many people. It's exactly the same as watching a Professional Tennis player jump and rip open a forehand creating massive speed versus watching amateurs keep everything not moving and just swing their arm at the ball. It's almost like Nicklaus knew what he was doing 50 years ago - complete full send.

I've heard it said that, "Amateurs can do anything the pros can do but not at the speed they do it." I do wonder how many Ams will have the skill to perform at the speeds this video suggests. I would imagine many will not make the jump over the chasm. I'm not being negative but rather addressing the reality. This is what makes the best golfers in the world the best. They can perform a movement requiring less than 1 degree of accuracy at insane speeds. Just a thought. It's a skill to be fair. But I wonder if it's THE skill that divides the good from the great?

Would be good to explain the weight transfer graphs a bit more to illustrate the efficiency of the early transfer. I can’t quite grasp the imagery info within the graphs. I think that these weight transfer videos are much better than clubhead positions. Similar to Zen golf 👍

At 3.10 you can't bend your knees by pushing into the ground. When you did the quarter squat followed by the jump, the force on the ground would have decreased as you went down, then increased as you pushed up.

I had a lesson recently and worked on this. My 7 iron swing speed went from ~92mph to97+, I even hit 100mph for my first time ever with a 7 iron. It also helped even out my swing plane as I was coming from the inside around 7-8 degrees

Let the arms drop free of tension, feel like the left leg pushes the left hip back as the club goes through the ball this creates a whip like effect similar to snapping a towel.

Mark I've only just started to get control of my face thanks to your grip insights. Should I keep that as my main focus until it's second nature before I start working on these ground forces or do both at once? I'm already hitting it a good distance but I doubt it's because I'm efficient. Who wants to leave distance on the table? People who have just started to find some fairways and average approach shots rather than OB off the tee then slicing their recovery shots I suspect.

Hi Mark, congrats on your swing changes! I've really enjoyed following you on your journey and was hoping you could answer me a question. I can manage to sit into my hips in the backswing but can't manage to go down further in transition before I jump. What I can do is, get fully loaded and jump at the correct (ish) moment. My question is, is it acceptable to slightly exaggerate the lowering in the backswing, skip the lowering in the transition and jump from there? Would love to come for a lesson in person. Regards Richard

Mark, this is spot on. I discovered through trial and error that the jump is like a nano second before impact. Once I discovered this and started practicing my timing of it, my golf swing improved immensely. My strikes were better, the carry was much longer and my misses were only one-way instead of all over the place. During my practice of this, I also discovered that I had to bend over a little more and push my lead leg up but also back to stop from topping the ball. Thanks for sharing. Cheers.

@PetSKi67
@PetSKi67 Год назад
I think you should be loading your front foot at the top just before the transition to downswing. You need some weight on the front leg to be able to push up and against the moving parts going forward. A shot-put action is the one you are looking for. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-khk9L3Pbp0g.html
