I'd just like to comment on the absolutely AMAZING quality of this video! It's so heart warming to see how the production of these videos are constantly improving :) The little animations in here were so fun and quirky and are incredibly detailed! (I won't lie, I was amused by the animation of the coin tosses and how intricate the queen was on the back of the coin lol!)
Thank you for noticing Amelia! Really glad the small touches have been noticed! The RM unit was a lot of work, and I think lots of the concepts are so abstract that they needed more imagery. It took sooooo long though I think I need to scale back as I'm planning the next few units. Spending a day drawing and animating a coin, microscope or new york city street slows me down a little :D But it is fun...
@@PsychBoost Wow, I had no idea how long those tiny intricate details took! The quality of the videos made me think there was perhaps a team involved in the animating etc., but I am even more impressed to know that it's all your doing! I know myself and many others really appreciate the effort you put into these vids :)
Thank you so much for your videos which have been a massive help. You’re one of the only psych teachers I can watch without falling asleep. You are a 🐐 My exams tomorrow wish me luck😅😅way more confident with ur help!!
9:15 wait so accepting a 0.05 probability increases the liklihood of a type 1 error? We were taught it 0.1/10% and 0.05 was used because it balanced out between the two probabilities
Ah it is tricky, and really just a matter of convention. 0.01 (one in 100) and 0.05 (one in 20) are the most often used. Both are trade-offs, and you could go more extreme either way. (I have never heard of 1 in 10 being an option in any research NGL) For example, theoretically, you could only accept a one in a thousand, or a million chance of accepting an alternate hypothesis incorrectly.... But no study would ever get strong enough data to be accepted. You could then argue that 0.01 is more "balanced" as it is between 0.05 (one in 20) and 0.005 (one in 200) I'm not sure if that makes sense! But good luck!
Hey, any part of research methods can appear in any paper. Just waiting for the almost annual "OMG RM/stats questions in Paper 1! That's not fair! " Twitter/Tiktok controversy! Interestingly in one way or another, RM takes up 1/3 of your overall grade.
