why is the 400lb for negative and 800lbs force positive? i get that clockwise was established as positive and anti-clockwise was negative but how can we tell the direction of the magnitudes?
imagine the point you're measuring from is the centre of a clock and the force you're accounting for as pushing on the hand, which way would it go, counter-clockwise or clockwise?
