Thank you everyone for support in my last video. That was a topic I was very passionate about and I wanted to talk about it for quite some times.
In this video, I wanted to shine a light on issues I faced in South Korea. Everything I talk about is based on my experince and people I know. I am not making assumptions, I'm sharing my perspective on certain topics. In addition to sharing my point of view, I want to offer a solution to these issues. A lot of the time we see foriegners rant, vent, or bash Koreans of South Korea, but I never see anyone offer a solution on how to fix the problem. So, I decided not only will I share what my friends and I have dealth with, but propose a way to fix it. That way it possibly won't happen to another person. In no way am I bashing Koreans or trying to be hateful. I simply want or promote change within my community and theirs. In the future, I want to have a video where myself, other foreigners, and Koreans can have a open conversation and share it on my channel. Maybe that can happen one day.
Thank you guys so much for your support. Thank you so much to everyone who has subscribed. Each and everyone of you are helpig me get one step closer to living my dream.

All points are so valid. The fact that you can't go over to anyone to complain if your Korean employer is racist towards you and wants to fire you, blows my mind. I have heard so many stories.
@derringtravel3278
@derringtravel3278 28 дней назад
It’s ridiculous. South Korea doesn’t even have discrimination laws so the person is just stuck dealing with their employer. I knew one girl who went above her direct boss. 2 months later she quit and is now working at a different school. Thank you so much for watching me subscribe if you can.

I agree that in the black community all over the world we a thought to respect your older. I know in the Caribbean u would get a beating for disrespecting the elders when we was kid . I am so happy that u took the time to put an end to the excuses that is used by Korean to be racist. By saying oh Korea is a homogenous society when the internet is available all over the world they just want to be able to discriminate without consequences.but we a not buying what they are selling. They know that all black doesn’t living in Africa we from all over the world.
@derringtravel3278

Oh they know all black people don’t live in Africa. I sometimes think they say it to get under a persons skin. Most of them, if you call them Chinese or Japanese, they feel insulted. I just wished respect can be given on both sides. Stop “selective listening” to what is being said on the news. In 2024 we all know how bias ALL news stations are but some people continue to perpetuate false narratives.

It's interesting to hear your perspective. I think there may be some misunderstandings on both sides, but it's important to understand why people might hold certain perspectives. For example, what if the man who looked you up and down on the train had an issue with overseas military bases, and thought you were some off-duty military personnel? Just a theory! I've been fortunate in that I only ever had two bad experiences with Koreans seeming to have xenophobia, and ironically one of those cases involved a worker at an immigration center in a provincial town. I just try to be patient in such situations, as changing someone else's mindset isn't going to happen instantly.

I had to pause to scream laugh my butt off at the 03:55 minute mark. That was a beautiful response. Legendary! I respect it a 100% because he really shouldn’t have said that! Wow some Koreans are over there using derogatory words in the bedroom without consent? But then again, these people probably don’t even know what consent is. That’s something schools and the media should teach them. I agree with everything you said though. Bts went to America to talk about stopping Asian hate and passing the law but they haven’t said a word to protect foreigners in their own country. I don’t care if they donated to blm. They should be at the blue house too stirring ish up sticking up for foreigners. I get they were invited to speak but still, it’s very ironic that Koreans can get so butthurt is they experience racism in America but then will be racist to others when they return to their country. It’s because they feel safe to do so since there’s no law against it.
@derringtravel3278

Hahahah I had to check that man. I like to take the high road but sometimes I will drive through hell. It’s funny because I didn’t share the story of a KT I worked with, told me she had an experience where she experienced racism in California. She was called Chinese and derogatory terms were used against her by a white person. However, “SOME” Koreans will do the same thing to black people in Korea. They will do it unprovoked. I don’t believe all Koreans are racist, but I don’t see any change within their community. When it comes to Asian hate, huh, that’s derived from white supremacy, but is advertised as blacks hating Asian. Tuh!!

This is exactly what and how I felt after coming back from living in europe for months in my life. Black people are all over the world. Every society in the west tend to be cautious in racism against blacks. But the group who always call me(asian) a ching cheng Chong in a random street had been blacks. More than any other races. As a korean, I agree that many of us are racist against black. I don't deny it. But you should know it, racism here comes from ignorance to black, but racism against asian in the west comes from the superiority that black is better than Asian. That's why they are aggressive to asian. Such as assaulting, mocking them loud in street. Nobody in the west mind of racism against asian.

I don’t think there is anything wrong with a fetish. It’s how a person goes about it. Trying to indulge in a fetish and using derogatory terms towards that person is not the right and very disrespectful. No one is excluded from this. African Americans, Asians, white, Spanish etc.

Another really interesting vid, wish this content had been available 10yrs ago when I first started getting into K culture. I allowed myself to be put off of exploring it further by the attitudes towards BIPOC, and took a break that ended about 2 months ago. It's bad enough dealing with micro-aggressions in your home country, let alone going somewhere you dream of visiting and receiving that treatment so brazenly. It's giving crab bucket/sch bully vibes. Scared of being linked with the "underdog" so a lot of them convince themselves that they truly are better than others and act out negatively. Change can be excruitiatingly slow, and a lot of people need to continue working on themselves and their views on the people they share this planet with for positive effect. - In terms of fetishes, consent is key. Our fantasies are our own and if the intent is to share that with somebody then there should be enthusiastic and informed consent imo. Racial fetishization is a line I won't cross, and can't help but side eye those who enjoy it (bc where is that actually coming from within you to want to be degraded or degrade others like that?) - Thankyou for teaching me/us a new phrase. Currently repeating it and asking various objects around my room where they are from so that it sticks 😂 (Hope all of that made sense, have a lot of thoughts but tried- and failed- to keep it short-ish).

Hahaha no problem. Don’t let these experiences keep you from the country, learning more about k pop, or learning the language. There are Koreans I’ve had positive experiences around. It just sucks that the negative weighs as much as the positive. Thanks to the relationship I’ve built and my new job, I’ll be in Korea for a while. Thank you so much for watching. The cuisine is one of my fav things, even though my best-loved dishes cause me pain- looking at you jjamppong and teokkbokki🌶😭😭. Just like anywhere, you have your good and your bad eggs. The bad can create such a stink it's hard to perceive the good sometimes but it's still there. Thankyou for speaking up about your experiences, it's appreciated!

Notify all foreigners reading this comment. This kind of idea will never help you or Korea. In the past Korean government accepted some Korean-speaking Chinese citizens as a solution to boost the population but now a generation later it has found that such a policy has not worked. Also Korea does not grant any foreigners who haven't served for korean's mandatory military service equal rights as its own. Foreigners like you who consider a country's demographic group parts as "clearly the wrong group" will flee to their home countries without fighting North Korea if the Second Korean War breaks out. We call it as "Parasite". If you have values that you can't openly talk about in public, you'd better correct them early.

@@user-vs1no7ku4r what values. People move to Korea out of love and interest in the Korean society as a whole. To be met w blatant ignorance. It should be discussed. People build their lives there. There is no use discussing this hypothetical war. We need to fix and resolve and adress the ignorance. And then if this war occurs then loyalty will be given and shown. Please don't be dense: the people that went back must have also dealt w this ignorance. And worldwide citizens flee when war occurs.

@@priskruger314 Public security and infrastructure are not free of charge. These factors cannot be covered by "love and interest." Tax, labor, and sacrifice are the factors. @@user-vs1no7ku4r ways will be found. Taxes are paid by the foreigners working there. In that sense they also contribute. So that is ok. @user-vs1no7ku4r
@user-vs1no7ku4r 12 дней назад
@@priskruger314 If only paying taxes to the government could protect our borders, every Korean would pay twice, three times, ten times the amount of taxes. If paying taxes alone contributes to national defense, it is already being paid by Korean and foreign women. A war is fought among people after all. North Korea would rather use biochemical weapons than total war or nuclear weapons to absorb the South's infrastructure and industrial base. (Using white phosphorus, poison gas, napalm, etc). Paying taxes for defense is not enough. You should also pay your life. The reserve funds, advertisements you mentioned seem to mean recruitment. Establishment of a recruitment system requires U.S. military-level defense spending, high-tech, and social treatment. There is no realistic condition for Korean soldiers.
