Im a Muslim but i find the Christians rejecting the lords prayer appalling. This is one of the most beautiful prayer ever. For Heavens sake how can any right thinking person reject the Lords Prayer??? That would be the biggest disaster for Christianity!!!!!

The Bible calls this the spirit of Anti Christ.

The Archbishop should resign immediately. He is a disgrace.

I am not religious but this nonsense has to stop. Way beyond a joke now. The 'silent' majority need to wake up.

It's the Archbishop who's problematic, he needs to go, to even say that about the Lord's Prayer is absolutely despicable and if he thinks this way, he's in the wrong job, get him out he's an absolute disgrace to his religion.

I say the Lords Prayer every night, I refuse to have ‘Our Father’ woked and taken away. I was abused by my father, but the one enduring man in my life is God, he has seen me through my troubles.

The Lord's Prayer, the one Jesus taught us to pray, has stood the tests of 2,000 years and there is no reason at all to tinker about with it. I carry it in my mind and heart and find it a great comfort in these troubled times. I am sad to see the state the Church of England has got itself into. It needs to find again the strength and spiritual stature it once had.

If one of the leaders of your church has a problem with the Lord's Prayer, you are not in a church. The only thing worse that a false shepherd, is someone who willingly follows them.

Hands down this tops my list of the woke ridiculousness. The problem doesn't lie with the church's doctrine it lies with the rogue interpretation of misguided fools. If the Archbishop finds what the church believes problematic he needs to step aside and find employment in a profession he can get behind. Christianity is not his forte.

The Lord's Prayer has been a constant throughout all of the church's reformations in history. Emma is correct. Calling the words of Christ problematic is calling Christ, the true head of the church, problematic.

I have no religion. However how is this man the second most important person in the Church Of England, if he thinks the Lords Prayer is problem?

The Church of England has been too careless about who it allows to become vicars, bishops etc. They have managed to turn God into an all forgiving comfort blanket who requires nothing at all of his followers. This is where the rot set in.

Canterbury is a heretic, no Anglican can now take him seriously. There has to be a break away for the Church of England because this goes deeper than Canterbury himself.

I love the Lords Prayer. I was brought up Christian, I'm not so much now but this prayer has brought me much comfort over decades. Please leave it alone woke clerics.

When I was ten years old, a local neighborhood evangelist gave me a red letter edition of the bible. He was careful to point out that what this edition could provide me was every recorded word (printed in red ink) that Christ was alleged to have spoken. So I took the thing home and I did just that. I read every red lettered word, time and again, until I had committed much to memory. Then and there, at the age of ten, I decided that Christ was a pretty cool guy. There and then, it became apparent to me that of course the foundational basis of Christianity was Christ himself. Which was why when around that time "x" for xmas showed up, I was not amused. The point being, of course the clowns are going to have a problem with Christ. He doesn't compromise. He doesn't back down. He doesn't buy their word salad. As followers well know. Which is why for many years now I've also suspected that what we refer to as Natural Law for many, is in fact the Lord's Law. It is not man-made. It has absolutely nothing to do with humans, other than the fact that it is not a bad idea to pay attention to it, adapt its principles as we figure them out (the basis of science) and carry on. We live in an era of human myopia and manic obsession with the idea that man plays god. As if this is his purpose. Man couldn't play his way out of a paper bag. Lacking respect for this Law was never a good idea. We don't get to choose. We have no power of control. Natural Law does not care about us. There is no grace, gentleness, forgiveness, compassion, empathy, kindness, humanity in it. These are all human things. But our laws do not run or guide the universe. Our laws do not spin galaxies, birth stars, orbit planets, paint that gorgeous mural across the heavens. Our laws cannot even so much as create the miracle of a single human baby's birth. We need to get over ourselves.

I will recite the Lord's Prayer this evening in exactly the same way as I've always done. The bible warns us that many will turn away from Christ in the end times, it seems the bishop is leading the way.

The archbishop of York is a prat. I'm a bloke, not overly religious though I have said that prayer all my life and will not be told by anyone what I can and can't say in my prayers. Whatever other peoples gender, identity etc I totally respect but I also expect my own to be respected as well.

The Bishop of York should quit the church and get a job at Bud Light or Coutts.

When he was a bishop he refused to support a vicar over a ridiculous Mermaids trading which said people can change sex. The vicar (who did have a 1st class Biology degree from Oxford btw!) tried to disagree and was treated abominably by the trainer. I think he subsequently left the church. My heart sank when he was appointed Bishop of York.......

If anyone has a problem with the image of fatherhood in the Lord's prayer then they need to look inside themselves and fix those issues instead of expecting an entire religion to change to bend to a few offended people's sensibilities.

I'm not religious, I'm actually personally very opposed to organized religion, and I guarantee you I would fight vehemently for a religious person's right to prayer, to their chosen faith, etc... I am with Emma totally. I have been a CofE christian all my life and am in utter despair at the way the church is going. I was in tears the first time they insisted in my church that we recite the new woke version of the Lords Prayer. More and more churches are going this way and there is nowhere for traditional christians to go anymore. I go less and less because I now feel uncomfortable and discriminated against in church. So much for the CofE being inclusive. Not for the likes of me.

The Lord's prayer is engraved on my heart. It's what I shouted when I woke up during an earthquake when the earth was roaring and the bed was simultaneously moving up and down and back and forth. It's what I shouted when onboard a plane that went into a nosedive over a tropical storm in the Gulf of Mexico. As you can see I lived to tell. No-one can ever tell me how to pray, when to pray, not to pray!! And that's regardless of being a woman, it's my conviction and I'll die for it.
