Right type of anger from Gary! I felt exactly the same. I'm usually a glass half-full kinda guy, but now I just felt disappointed and angry at the manner of this defeat. They should have learned (or at least Ange should have told them) that you cannot just saunter in and roll over teams. I mean, Man City haven't been great the last few weeks, but they grind out results regardless. I would have hoped Kulusevski or someone would have stepped up as a leader , but he seemed to have the wrong type of energy (he was heading towards a sending off, I think). If Brighton was a humbling experience, this was even more so, and I really hope the players take it to heart.
Last season we got 26 points away from home, for context in 16/17 86 point season 33 points away (our best in PL era). Apart from 2 seasons under Poch we’ve been poor away for 30 years. To win consistently in the PL away, it takes top experienced players with strength of character. We have a lot of 17-22 year olds that may get to that status but are not yet, and it shows in the away results. And that’s not unique to Spurs - same for most clubs.
Proper “angry analysis” from Gary, I agree and feel the same pain. We are weak when the chips are down and capitulate too often, it’s gotta change! COYS.
I saw it the same as Gary and Jake , the attitude, approach and application was wrong from the off. The passing was sloppy and casual and no one was getting into anyone to try and raise the performance. When its time for the trenches during a game some players hide and go missing. We need to improve. Good discussion as per usual.
Gary....absolutly correct ( @ 19 minutes in) Felt nothing after thar loss, signs of the time. Being a Spurs Fan....Expectations to step up is draining. Still COYS
With Jonny , after 50+ matches+three transfer windows under Ange what we see is what we have, ie. a 5-8th place PL team hoping to avoid top teams in the cups. 16 PL defeats in the last 37 would probably have seen off many other managers. The Palace game emphasised systemic flaws that are regularly exposed in away games (cf Newcastle,Fulham.Liverpool, Chelsea). We are not at "Ange out"( yet ) but we have to see substantive progress with the resources we have.
My wife gives off to me for shouting at the TV and I am watching in the garage!! But I am sure I wasn't alone on Sunday! I still support Ange and believe he will get there if given time? No such thing as waffle everyone is entitled to their opinion. Love this show as it reflects all our opinions and frustrations. COYS! 😊
It hasn’t happened for Werner, need an elite RW to compete with Brennan and we desperately need a ross Barkley type box to box guy. Willing to see Sarr going 6 and Bissouma going into a more attacking role like Maddison and Kulu
Just wish the team played with the same passion as Gary shows on this pod. When we finished the debt ridden stadium we now live in Levy said it would be a game changer,we stll pay our players less than City United Chelsea Liverpool and the scum so have no right to belive the quality of players we have should lift us any higher than 6th at best. That s the Levy leagacy not the debt ridden stadium wich is costing us £50 million a year in interest.
What about playing Kulusevski on the left wing (or Johnson on the left Kulu on the right)? That way you get Sarr's athelticism in midfield, dont overuse Moore and no Timo needed
Not surprised to see that not one panel is pointing out the importance of Son's absence. Is it coincidence when Son misses the game, tottenham plays crap i.e Brighton, Crystal Palace and 2 Europa games? Is it coincidence that last season when Son was out due to Asian cup, Tottenham was struggling against Burnley in the cup game, lost to Mancity at the cup game, drew against Everton and Man utd? The question should be if Son had played in Brighton and Crystal Palace game, would Tottenham have lost those games? It seems like Spurs fans don't think Son as that of an important player. Whenever Son plays well, the praise almost always goes out to either Maddison or Kulu, when Son does not score or assist, Spurs fans slagging off like he is the worst player on the planet. Surprised no one is mentioning leadership issue?
Bizarre post - Son didn't play. Teams have injuries - not worth bringing to the debate in any way. We all love Son. I've also seen Son involved in equally abysmal performances in his time - there is nothing to suggest that this wouldn't have happened if he did play. For the record, Son was mentioned is so much as it was said that HAD HE BEEN FIT Moore wouldn't have played and any time Son is fit, he is very clearly the first choice left winger. Not sure what more you'd like us to have said? Dismiss the result as "Son didn't play so it doesn't count - we'd have won if he had played"? We're not Ten Haag!
