That experience with DoA sounds horrendous, never knew how badly segmented the DLC was!

@@GameRaveTV TY! Since my console is kind, valuable I guess, I thought about getting a "player" 360, which model to get, maybe just an "E" 500 GB? Want a player that will last
@GameRaveTV

@@ThePalePatriot Stick with the Slim and just snag a 500GB hard drive. The E used a headphone jack for AV cables, eliminated some USB inputs, and a few other minor changes. Any slim will give you access to almost all accessories except the side car HDD.

Hell Man, Am i glad i kept all my original games, Iv'e never had any of those problems, Back in the days of XBOX 360 and PS3 And so on, You didn't need to update your games, I just played them for what they were, well made polished games, that really didn't need DLC's and Updates, you would complete that game then wait for the next game or instalment of that game you'd completed, You'd finish mass Effect one, then you'd buy mass 2 and complete that game, Now you need Updates Most of the time because they ether only put half a game on the disk then you'd need a 30 to 60 gig update before you could even play the full game,now you pay £60 £70 For a game that's rushed and broken, they throw a Patch at you Witch breaks your game even further, OK not all the time, Some games are fantastic, Anyway I have my Halo Edition 360 Witch i brought from brand new, And like you Im'e taking it to my grave mate, I love it, I have over 250 original games for it, i have all the Saints rows, All of the GTA games, Some of my Favorite games would have to be, The Sherlock Holms Games, the Jack the Ripper one was amazing, And i love the remastered version of the monkey island 1 + 2 they did a fantastic job on them, And you even had the voice overs telling you how they made the games on the disk itself, Back in the good old days when they did things properly, I really like all your Physical games on your shelfs, Now that's more like it, Not all this Digital Nonsense, You can really see all the love, time and effort you've put into saving up for them, And going out and buying them, Just like me, I have a huge collection over nearly every console, I have been collecting all my life, ever since the Amiga 3do and even the CDI days, YEH! the Mid 80's to 90's.Don't like Digital, They can turn your servers off anytime they see fit. And for that reason, I shall always be a Physical disk Person, they cant turn my games off now can they, Anyway My friend, A very interesting Video Pall, i enjoyed what you had to say on the matter.

Im concerned about a few games when online shuts down. NBA Jam On Fire seems to need online for some reason. Ive installed games to hard drive so disc drive does nothing but initial read. So far so good.

Just to make sure, you might want to check your Dead or Alive 5 Ultimate Downloads again.. It looked like you missed a few like DLC - 07 59 MB, DLC - 13 84 MB, and DLC - 19 47 MB.. You might have already made the correction or perhaps there was a reason you decided not to download those specific ones.. Just thought I'd let you know just in case. Also wanted to say I really enjoy your content.

Thanks for the heads up! Some of the numbers aren't listed on XBox Live, but the game boots fine. I wondered if they combined some of them (like 7 is part of 6 or 8). Next time I boot up the console I'll do once last check. =) And thank you for the compliment - great to have you here! :D

Great video and tips! I've been going on a bit of a shopping binge myself and downloading the 360 exclusive downloadable games that I want to play. That section about DOA was pure madness lol. What were they thinking/doing? As for my favorite 360 games, Dead Rising, Halo 3, Alan Wake, and Peter Jackson's King Kong.

Street Fighter IV Arcade Edition also has the Catalog Packs, but doesn't seem to be affected by them? I have a few but not all downloaded and I was able to play single player just fine.

I have been "stocking up" on 360Es the last couple years as I am a "Doomsday" guy when it comes to gaming. I retired my 360 Elite (technically my third 360, as I sold my original Elite from 2007 to a friend of mine in 2010, and traded in my 360 Core from 2010 in 2012 to put towards the Wii U), as I don't think it's optical can put up with installing 200+ games to an external HDD a second time. I have two Es now, and one is set aside in storage for when the optical drive on my current one goes in say 10 or 20 years. Installing 200+ games to a 2TB HDD (still over 500 GB available) essentially makes the 360 a cartridge based console in my mind, and it should live a VERY LONG time. Obviously one day the internal HDD will go, but that is not a problem (to me anyway), as the 360 was designed to work without an HDD (Core consoles), and Microsoft eventually added external storage support in 2010 or so. Obviously, without an OEM HDD, you can't play original Xbox games, but the majority of original Xbox games I own I also have either via "HD Remasters" (Halo Anniversary, Fable Anniversary, Splinter Cell Collection (PS3)), or I own them via GOG. As for the Sega games... Well, last I checked Orta and JSRF are playable on the Durango. Is Gun Valkyrie playable? I don't recall. A big thing I miss about the 360 and the PS3, is that you could download the free DLC for a game even if you didn't own it. I would always do this if I spotted free DLC for a game I would eventually plan to buy. Sometimes YEARS would go buy between downloading the free DLC before I owned the physical game, but it was nice to know I had the additional content installed and ready to go. Sadly, Sony removed this option with the Orbis, and you could only download DLC for games you owned, and while I have never tested with the Durango, I wouldn't be surprised if Microsoft did the same. I am also "stocking up" on PS3 Superslims. My precious PS3 20GB from 2008 is still running like a champ (despite YLOD in 2010), but I did have a Superslim briefly in 2013. One day it will die, and yet with a Superslim being a Top Loader, I can retrieve the disc if need be if the console dies (my 20GB YLODed as I ejected a disc back in 2010).

If you do ever plan to mod a 360, you'll probably want an S rather than an E (all S models were moddable, only the earliest of the Es were), and once modded you can play all the games you installed from discs without having the discs in, so your laser starting to go bad won't be as catastrophic (plus there's disc rot / scratches to worry about on top of laser woes). Modded consoles seem a lot more future-proof. You can even work around the limitation of not being able to play OG Xbox games on non-OEM HDDs/SSDs once your 360 is modded. Can also use more third party or modern controllers by bypassing the controller authentication with usbdsecpatch, so then you can play with a PlayStation controller if you prefer (using a MayFlash adapter to convert dinput to xinput), use an arcade controller you built yourself, use modern third party controllers with hall effect sticks so you don't have to worry about drift, etc. That also covers the issue of all the original 360 controllers wearing out over time. Plus there are some games that were taken off the market years ago like Marble Blast Ultra that you can install on your modded 360. I know not everyone is comfortable picking up a soldering iron for these more invasive mods, but it at least sounds like you're prepared to spend a lot of money on keeping your 360 games playable, so you could buy a pre-modded console instead. For PS3 I would similarly recommend an older model. The oldest revisions of the Slim (check manufacture dates and cross references psdevwiki) are moddable and you could then play all your games off an SSD even if your laser dies, so I'd recommend that over getting the superslim.

@@SoundToxin Hell yeah. Thanks man, I will definitely look into your suggestions. I LOVE the 360 S design, but kinda swore it off as it has touch capacitive buttons, and those wear out eventually. My 20GB PS3 can eject discs from the console, but need to use the controller to boot or power it off as the Power/Sleep button wore. It's really not that big of an inconvenience, but just enough of an annoyance that I skipped the 360 S, and not too mention, I love the E's similarity to the Durango in it's design. I personally do not like the PS3 Slim from an aesthetic standpoint, but if it's more easily modable I will also look into that as well (besides, I'm more worried about preservation and 20 - 30 years longevity vs how a console looks).
@SoundToxin

@@RolfWrenWalsh You can replace the face plate + flex cable if your capacitive buttons stop working on the 360, I see them go for $15 or so as a pair on eBay. I'd also try cleaning the connector and port with isopropyl alcohol before replacing it in case that helped. In a pinch you can also short some pins with a tweezers for power and eject. Handy if you have the faceplate removed to work on one also.

Great video as always. This is my gut reaction favorite 360 games. Virtua Fighter, Tekken Tag 2, Rise to Honor, Assassins' Creed 2, Brotherhood and Need for Speed Carbine. I realize these are not the greatest games for 360...I don't care:)

The Halo Reach Slim Edition. It was a bittersweet pre-order - the model I was replacing at the time got stolen in a home burglary. So it's extra special to me, and another reason why I want to keep it around.

Playstation should have made all of their new consoles backwards compatible like xbox. Very very greedy Sony
@GameRaveTV
@GameRaveTV 3 месяца назад
It's not really greedy - it's profit versus cost. If BC was truly profitable Sony would have never removed it from the PlayStation 3. It also doesn't help that systems aren't consistent in their architecture. Too much work to make it all function on one box, especially when your profit margin would be eaten up by used sales and not new classic games. Xbox's BC is admirable, but fallible enough to not be jealous of.
