The backwards compatibility is one of the coolest things. If you got a backwards compatible ps3 and a disc based ps5 you can play practically everything with just 2 consoles

I have both PS4 and PS5. I say if I want to play PS4 games, there is not enough room on my PS5 to play them which frustrates me so I got to keep my PS4 to play PS4 games. Plus I just think that PS4 controller is superior.

The amount of extra power required to run a ps1 game on a ps3 seems quite steep for my liking. Original ps1s ran at under 10w, ps2 slim isn't bad either will be like under 25w, but the backwards compatible ps3 isn't reasonable like will be well over a hundred, even ps3 slim well over 50w. Also ps3 support for ps1 is emulation and not native? Unless the ps2 hardware in the original backwards compatible ps3 includes the Ps1 chip set same as ps2s did (except for later model ps2 slim) But then your using one of the original phat ps3 so your back yo using a whole lot of watts for ps1/ps2 games when you could be doing it on under 25 or 10 with an actual ps1.

I prefer playing PS2 games on the PS2, so any PS3 is fine for me, but I prefer the later fat models.

I prefer sticky analogs than drifting. I havent seen in my life a DUALSHOCK 3 controller than has a drift.

Meanwhile last year I buy a brand new oem ps4 controller from best buy and am immediately drifting on the menu screen like it's need for speed

Just wanted to say, I hope your channel continues to grow and I enjoy the presentation of your content. I had never heard of disc rot until I happened across your video. So a big thank you for bringing that to my attention as a huge optical media owner it really makes me want to care for and maintain my library with a more cautious attitude than I already exhibit. Thank you for another enlightening video!!

I have had a 60gb ps3 for a very long time but for the past 5 or so years, I have played it very little out of the fear of getting the YLOD. It is time to have this taken apart and repasted by a professional. I don't trust myself to do it because of all the complexities and fragile cable mounts inside. It is a very good console though.

Easy to clean sticky sticks - just use any petroleum based cleaning product. Mr Sheen is what I use (in the UK).

Ylod isn’t bricked but it usually involves failed nec tokens or bad gpu/rsx. These can be addressed. I’ve repaired plenty of them thank to the community for getting access to the system control (SYSCON). This access allows us to repair the console for the exact reason why ylod happened.

As a PS3 collector myself, I 100% agree with the issues pointed out. I had 1 PS3 die on my (YLOD), and i constantly worry about temperature, since all my consoles had small issues. I would say Xbox 360 S solved RROD better than PS3 About Backwards compatibility, the digital library of PS1 and PS2 titles is far from comprehensive, but it's very interesting and enough to scratch that itch for me, since I didn't collect for those consoles.

If you have sticky anologue sticks, sprinkle a little talcum powder on them, sorted (baby powder in US)

Dabbing Mr Muscle (or other de-greaser ) on the analogue sticks with a sponge is the best way I've found of removing the sticky-ness. It needs multiple applications and letting it dry naturally but after about the third you'll notice 'that feels less sticky'. Keep going 🙂 Don't rub at them with a cloth or a towel to dry them or you'll find you're rubbing away the texture of the surface and the fibres will stick on them too. Just repeated dabbing applications of Mr Muscle. It's a slow process, but it's the best I've found. I'm guessing the sticky-ness is the rubbery plastic breaking down over time. Being in a hot or humid environment seems to increase it. The Mr Muscle method isn't a permanent fix either (I find myself doing this every summer) but at least you're not replacing them with third party parts that will eventually do the same thing 👍

Update: I've dug out some of my PS2 and PS3 controllers that I haven't used for years (very sticky!) and Mr Muscle was barely doing anything on those. I've found using hand sanitizer (70% alcohol) has been more effective for these 👍

Top scratches on the discs and basically every collection you see for sale consists of the same games.

I have an o.g. PS3 that is back compatible with PS2 games, and for console longevity I only play PS2 games on that PS3. For PS3 and PS1 games, I use a more easily replaceable Super Slim PS3.

One more thing regarding the PS3 original controller you can't charge it with any USB adapter it have to be connected to the console for it to be charged or to a PC, the duplicate, Fake, not original PS3 controller can be charges through a USB adapter
@TheFiftyQuid
@TheFiftyQuid Месяц назад
You're using the wrong type of USB adapter. The PS3 controllers won't charge using "dumb" USB adapters. They need the data pins. A quick Google will find you one that will work.

I've had my PS3 slim since about 2008 and so far the only hardware issue I had was my original controller got this issue where if you squeezed it too tight it would press all of the buttons at the same time. I was able to fix it by opening it up and replacing the foam rubber bumpers inside of it though.

Bought my PS3 in 2007. Still using the same dual shock controllers with the original batteries. You can buy replacement better mAh batteries nowaday for less than $5. Remove 5 screws on the back of the controller, open it, unclip the battery, install the new one. 5 minute job. Sticky thumbsticks? Never happened to me. Try cleaning with IPA if you have sweaty fingertips or eat pizza while playing. None of the things you consider problems can't be solved without some minor research.

PS3 fat model is known to overheat but the slim model does not overheat as much (I don't know about the super slim PS3 because I don't have one)
