She is very talented with her hands. When someone loves their job like her it no longer becomes work but a enjoyment. I love her art which it’s very beautiful.
I appreciate how Japan is a first world industrialized nation and yet keeps its history of fine traditional craftsmanship in everything they do from food stalls to knife carving.
My great uncle was a master engraver, it's so nice to see people still using the old skills of hand engraving rather than say laser work. Working to this level of detail on steel requires years of experience and a lot of talent.
You are a person whp appreciate the difference between human toil and craftsmanship/artistry/patients. Laser is not cutting into metal, but lightly mark it, using heat. It needs none of the above qualities. Engraving is done through human hands, use their eyes including designing and cutting metal to remove it off the body of metal item. Wheras anyone can use a keyboard for laser. This lady is a true paragon. She is even working free hand, without first drawing her work. tks
my cheaper knives have stamped on kanji which looks so perfect and boring?, my better knives have these hand engraved kanji, looks so rustic yet full of life

Ms. Kubota, I am totally speechless watching your amazing skill making this knife!!! You are truly gifted. Thank you so much for making this terrific video!!!! Watching from North Carolina, USA.
OMG. Japanese people are so serious and polite. That woman avoided eye contact most of the time. She works in a tiny room like a prisoner in a jail without windows. Yet she is very talented and modest.
I can only imagine the pleasure of owning something so graceful created by a single artist. I am humbled and enthralled at the same time. Thank you for showing me the intense pride that is necessary in such work.
