I started renting a SC15 a few years ago and have rented one every year since. Definitely a time and back saver being as it turns a month of weekends into a 1-2 day job.
I spent a few months running an 8 foot long chainsaw set up similar to this one while working in a cedar shake and shingle mill. My first job after graduating from high school was at Daniels Cedar Products of Junction City, Washington. That was a loong time ago, over 40 years past.
i could stand and watch it all day. Almost meditating. First thought its all automated untill noticing the operator whos clearly confident not to have his hands chopped off. Experienced.
That guy has done that about a million times! Love it, no waste! They make a cutter splitter that hooks to a skid steer that would work well on a lot like this. It picks up maybe 8' log from piles then pushes them to the end, cuts and then pushes through the splitter to be dropped anywhere.
I got a big wood burner and cut a lot of wood and split it. I built my Owen spliter out of the junk I had laying around . The only thing I bought was a 5.5 motor and hyd 2 stage pump. Think I got a total of about a little over 300 in it. That's a nice processer.
I want one! What a great 'have-to-have' for the local lumber/log/wood recycler. I don't know how much a cord of split firewood costs in NC, but to buy one ($50K for a new one, a used one on eBay for $22.5K), the ROI would have to be there. Gonna guess, this one has paid for itself AND made money for the wood recycle owner. As always, Chris, you take us to some of the coolest places to see the coolest stuff. Thanks!!! 😎👍 P.S. Sorta glad the slurpy pond mud is still drying out......and, we didn't do pond work today. Just so doggone scary - hopin' ya don't get into a mud 'situation' upto your sunglasses. 😜😳😉
I'll give you the answer. don't! The cost of a cord of wood in my area of town is about $200. The price of natural gas or fuel oil is dirt cheap. Wood stove are 1/2 efficient of furnaces. So long store short. Fire word is commodity, not a necessity. The bank will be calling your phone a lot for their money.
Wow, when I was a kid and lived in a house heated by two wood stoves, all we had was a Mac 1010, an axe, a maul, and two steel wedges. Hauled it in a 6’ trailer pulled by an AC WD. Times sure have changed! Now I feel older!
I’m here watching this even though I have 4 trees that fell over in a wind storm the other day that need to be split and foliage needs to get burned. Oh well 😂
That's a pretty cool setup he has how much for a cord of wood out your way. Here in Stockton California one goes for 150 to 200 but in San Francisco the same company is making 275 to 350 a cord delivers to the driveway about 500 if you want it stacked. Them are Pelosi people they can afford it
Dammit Man !! That machine will cut a Truck Load quick !! lolol....I believe one of your scoops Chris , would have filled that trailer up !! lolol.....Have a Great Evening, and Weekend !! On too the Next...
I have watched dozens of these firewood processing videos over the years. And I don't even use firewood, lol. Just find it fascinating, especially when people make homemade versions. And some of the homemade ones are so dangerous that you have to laugh.
so glad i have a pellet stove, do not miss all that wood mess and work, and trying to store it all to dry. They deliver a pallet of pellets, i am good for more than 2 winters
Sure beats swinging an axe, looks like the only things it wont do is stack it in ya shed or make you a cup of coffee. Digger driver must have been watching letsdig18 for driving skills. Cheers for posting bro.
I believe some of the rental places have firewood processing machines like this available for rent. If yo could get a lot of logs lined up and perhaps a few friends, it might be worth checking it out.
Some of that wood looked pretty soft. Almost like it should have been ground up and not cut into firewood. Pretty cool machine and it makes short work of splitting it.
Makes pretty quick work of an otherwise back breaking job. What does he get for a truck load of wood? Back home it's 70.00 here in Birmingham I saw a guy selling it on the side of the road for 125.00
We would cut slit and deliver 400 cords a year with bow saws and hydraulic splitter , clearing housing developments and roads. When you split wood go with the direction of the tree not upside down like this guy.
How do you get this pile small faster? Make a contest for the NC Bushmen. 20 guys at the wood chopping competition, of course everything is corona compliant. :-)
It was really close to a cord depending on the trailer length...a cord of wood is 128sq.ft so it would take a 10ft long trailer stacked 2 ft tall and a little over 6 ft wide and it would be a cord and that trailer looked mighty close to that size!
Awesome machine, but I do wonder why the conveyor doesn’t sit directly under the part that does the splitting? It’s all completely automated apart from that bit and without someone sticking their hands in there I presume it would clog up fairly fast?
THAT... is a very clever contraption, For SURE...!! I’m sorry for calling it a Contraption 🤭 I ment an, “ Engineering Marvel by DYNA SC 15 Home Firewood Processing Company” but maybe Not for 49,500 $ though 😱😳🤷🏻♂️ I did see them as low as 21,000 dollars 💵 and all in between...!! Pondering this, I imagine the Most Neglected item on here would be the Sharpening of the Chain on the Saw...!! What Do You THINK.??
