Nice one! I've only used Registax a couple of times with minimal success, was just using video footage I took of Jupiter and Saturn. Next full moon I might try taking a few shots to play around with registax moon stacking. Thank you for this!
This video got me exactly where I needed to be. Initially I wasn't able to get Registax 6 to load up .tif files that I had extracted from PIPP so I re-exported as .avi and Registax processed it with no issues. The steps you laid out in this video are simple and straight forward. Great tutorial!
Took some pics of the super moon last week. But when I tried stacking in RegiStax I get a VERY blurred orb. Image set consisted of around 300 images taken over approximately 1 hr.
@@StevenMorrisPhotography Steven could I get you to fly to Arkansas and show me how on Earth to get this damn program to work on my computer. I've watched hour's of video. Read every article on the internet. And still I have not gotten one vid or picture to load into registax to even begin to try any kind of stacking. What on Earth could I possibly be doing wrong. It says it can load fits and tifs and png and avi I've tried them all and in no way can I get a file to load into it. Just says no files. no files.
Have you tried the "Estimate rotation" under "Align" and "De-rotate images" under "Stack"? (when you have lots of RAWs shot over a longer period). I believe the moon rotates around 15 degrees per hour..?
Does registax work when processing videos? There is a percentage bar but I’m not sure what it means. Someone said it was a loading bar but it’s been taking some time. My video is 1:27 minutes long
must the moon be photographed in all central frames? I do not use a star tracker and I ask because after giving storage to pictures in the final image I get 6 ... 7 moon shadows
It always best to have the moon in the central area of the frame. It will give you the best quality picture as the image can suffer the further from centre you are.
No luck for me, tried processing 18 moon images taken at ISO 100 1/400 sec, 15 registered (best 80%) but final image is blurred. Any hints? Followed your exact procedure
Could be there is too much movement between frames maybe? Other alternative would be to stack in photoshop and save as a tiff then bring into registax for the wavlet processing. You could also try a stack of 5 and see if that works, then build on that. I did have an issue of a blurry moon and it turned out that there was too much movement between the first frame and last frame.
I just tried to stack some images of the moon but i took them during the day and for some reason Registax turns the background pink ... any ideas how i might fix this? the stacking worked fine
Steven Morris heyya yeah I tried that and it did nothing it literally turns the sky and image red/pink no I don't know if it's a software fault or what the image files are all fine I'm using jpg maybe that's the problem
When I try stacking I receive an error message "Out of Memory" I have a relatively new laptop and only using jpeg images. Any ideas how to fix this issue
How many images are you using? Other alternative to stacking could be photoshop. The only time I’ve encountered the “out of memory” problem is when I’m stack a lot of files and big files from high megapixel cameras. I then sometimes stack in photoshop and then import into registax to use some of the processing aspects of registax.
I have found to fix this is to reduce the resolution of your image or cropping it down before stacking. Registax is old software and can’t handle large resolution images I have found.
Hey dude, everytime I try to load my moon image the app gets stuck. It gets hang and my image is proper, I tried in jpeg, nef and tiff format but still not working. Also it's the latest version and my laptop is compatible with 16gb ram so that's not the issue. Please help me out
Hi Pruthu, How many images are you trying to stack? Start with 5 and build up just incase. Are you shooting from a high megapixel camera? If so maybe try cropping all the images down so it's only the moon if you haven't already. Sometimes if you have a large region of interest the file size is larger and the old software can't cope. I have to crop all my images down so it's just the moon. If your having issues still stacking with Regi... try stacking with photoshop and then open that image into registax and use the wavelets for and the editing tools. Hope this helps and good luck!
@@StevenMorrisPhotography yup I have cropped the images alot and still it wasn't working, but now it worked with 2,000 frames. BTW what is the maximum limit that It can stack???
@@pruthuvanara1243 honestly I’m not sure of the maximum as I’ve never used that many frames. It is an old program and doesn’t have the capabilities for large files etc. sorry I couldn’t help answer your question better than that.
