I an 70 and was lucky to have lived in Manchester UK as a student. In the 60's..mremember the jukebox playing this and thinking then...how beautiful and deep is this
My Dad had a Hammond B3, and would play this song. I grew up hearing it. At 72 he hemorrhaged in our den in front of my 18 year or son and myself. He was considered a father to him. His eyes were wide open, but we couldn't get his attention. All blood went to stomach and I've never seen a white as pale as he was. He was breathing hard, and last breath was up in his throat so I could his his voice. He had a Leslie on organ and could play it exactly like group. He loved this song. Hard to believe how God works.
A great song that never grows old...it transcends generations...I am over 80 years old and I am sitting here listening, attempting to remember when I first heard the song...sounds great now as I Listen.
I will NEVER grow tired of this magical song. I just love the Hammond organ. Where has the time gone? I remember hearing this on the radio many many moons ago. I am still mesmerised by Procol Harum 😍😊. From a 63 yo in the Netherlands ❤️🇳🇱😘

This song reminds me of first dancing experience with a boy when I was a freshman. I stepped over his foot n so shy I couldn't look on his face. I was 20.
…it brings forth the fondest of memories imaginable - foréver will. Truly a magnificent composition transcending time in the most important facets of Life, for which we are most sincerely blessed…RIP Gary.
A truly great classic rock band , there is no band that sounds like them, truly original. Sadly will probably never be in the rock hall even though their body of work ( solid albums) provides they deserve it. It's a joke that other non deserving groups who have not paid their dues are in.
Passano gli anni, i decenni, ma questa " opera d'arte musicale" riesce sempre ad emozionare !!! Ed i Procol Harum non perdono il loro stile e la voce di Gary Broker lascia ancora a bocca aperta!!!
Something special and soul nurturing about this song. This music touches you as no other. 78 and especially love the Denmark orchestral addition to this song. Discovered this song late in life and listen often.
We skipped the light fandango Turned cartwheels 'cross the floor I was feeling kinda seasick The crowd called out for more The room was humming harder As the ceiling flew away When we called out for another drink The waiter brought a tray And so it was that later As the miller told his tale That her face, at first just ghostly Turned a whiter shade of pale She said "there is no reason" And the truth is plain to see But I wandered through my playing cards Would not let her be One of sixteen vestal virgins Who were leaving for the coast And although my eyes were open They might have just as well've been closed And so it was that later As the miller told his tale That her face, at first just ghostly Turned a whiter shade of pale
Who said it was? There are so many ...... but pretty much coming out from that same era. Nonetheless, Whiter Shade remains not only the most iconic but also the song that put Procol Harum on the map. God knows how many other great bands are not remembered today, simply because they never had a great iconic song. Back to this 2017 concert. They played them all (Homburg, A Salty Dog, Conquistador etc etc) ..... Whiter Shade was missing and eventually became the encore. Unlike the other tracks, this time I held up my mobile till the end. Sadly my favourite one didn't make it.......... Repent Walpurgis ..... but overall was glad to have been there.
Canzoni indimenticabili eravamo tutti un po' spensierati però era bello cera un amicizia sincera ok se vado avanti mi viene una tristezza ok ciao ragazzi
