Mobb Deep dont get enough credit for their longevity & consistency. They never switched up they style they always been hardcore street poets. Mad respect dunny
Swaii Maestro but if they signed to some white man or label, let me guess that wouldn't be selling out. How is that selling out. Fif put food in they kids mouth. Bought dudes Ferrari's . An you as a fan didn't support either cause for some reason you an lots of people saw it as selling out. Privileged situation for both. Album was hard
+julesking54 hnic is a classic project. people don't like to do research/listen to music with passion. look at what aqtq, mobb deep, geto boys, ugk, dj quik, daz, and many others did with the music they grew up on. jazz, funk, soul, experimental stuff. they loved music before they made music. some don't love music like they should. do they even internet bro? lol.
I'm so glad y'all are talking about this BC my husband and I are hoping that yall, OG teach these young boys how to make good music again, to be creative..
Maria Hernandez No doubt... check this out tho. Listen to Freedom on Flames ft Skyzoo by Stoneyardrebel #np on #SoundCloud soundcloud.com/user-1179550/freedom-on-flames-ft-skyzoo
chill out Maria ignore kids, they are not worth responding. About music - no society is doomed, easiest way, money, rolling, that's what important, not effort in message or other things in good rap. Peace.
Jay Jayy Yes yes yes, your are so right! I'm so glad there are other out there like me...I love music from hard core gangster rap to r&b and I couldn't understand why more ppl weren't talking about this very important topic!! #makemusicbetter!! #stopsoundingthesame #skinnyjeansiskillingdamusic!!!! ok I'm done lol
Slaves used to communicate using song. When Hip Hop came out it was following in their footsteps. Groups like Public Enemy brought a kind of awareness and unity that makes them (the elite) scared. There was ALWAYS some kind of turn up music in Hip Hop, but most rappers actually had something to SAY. It wasn't like it is now. They tryna dumb down (and gay up) Hip Hop to the point where eventually no one will take it serious anymore.
DABADSHAZAM True, but rappers usually had something to actually SAY. Whether it was a story, joking / flossin or something deep they at least tried to give a message of some sort.
No one takes HipHop serious anymore, except real hiphop heads like us. THERE ARE SO MANY UNKNOWN TALENTED REAL MCs but RADIO/TV/INTERNET all push that simple minded stuff..
NIMMHATV Rap Beats Yea you right. Luckily we can still find some through the web. It's underground, but it will come back into the mainstream again. People are starting to get sick of the radio garbage and its just a matter of time before people start feenin for them real #BARS again.
Eddy Cutz true indeed bro... check this out tho... Listen to Freedom on Flames ft Skyzoo by Stoneyardrebel #np on #SoundCloud soundcloud.com/user-1179550/freedom-on-flames-ft-skyzoo
theres a reason why ps lyrics used to hit so hard, his mentality is different! now he's older its coming to the surface more. get the feeling he's gonna play a part in something important.
yoo fuck where he came from his message is right and exact ..The Southern brothers don't have the knowledge or consciousness about themselves like brothers in new York and other places but that has a lot to do with the getting along in the racist society in the South. The music scene is different and we have to embrace it too
Strawberry Sativa Shut up. Nas is arguably the only rapper who repped QB more than P. What does this tell u about the man and his input into this culture. Salute the legend HNIC and keep it moving. Multiple classic albums, the most sample rap artist and an insane archive of timeless music. And 20+ years in the game. Legendary.
NevEd hell on earth my favourite mobb deep album too but personally id rather hear a sequel to that with brand new tracks and that same vibe just updated...theme is even more fitting now than it was then
That'd be ill af if they could but it'd be really hard to capture that time period, at least for them, they were going through a lot of death at that time, the east/west coast beef was going on. Shit was at a boiling point in 96.
Storytelling was a huge part of hip hop and rap during the old days so it must be such a culture shock, I still prefer the old rap rather than the bs they play these days
It's crazy how our own people in Queens, the place Prodigy repped, destroyed his mural not even 24 hours after completion. As black people, we got way bigger problems then mumble rap.
Dan Smith no... lakey the kid and worm (people that have a name in qb streets) made them do it. They had beef with P because of his book and other qb related things. Lakey is mega”s man, thats why he stopped talking shit about mural being defaced after he learnt who was behind it. Nore, mike dolorean and others have “confirmed” that the mural cant stay because of them. Too bad for them tho, because thanks to them, more P murals popped up all over the world
I like how prodigy kept it honest and said how he wish he went independent earlier. As much as I'm down with e-40 he always said he was independent but he was signed with jive starting out. He's definitely on his own grind now. Big ups for prodigy and no disrespect to e-40 (the bay representative).
"I cant look at Hav and not smile." P always put his brotherhood first. Sorry Hav has to go through life without P now. At least Havoc can always smile and reminisce about how much life they experienced together. RIP Bandana P from Boston. Salute
P is more real than Nas could Eva be, P is one of the most humble rappers in the game.Prodigy is the king of QB then Cormega then Nas!! R..I.P. Prodigy your lyrics will live forever in the hearts of your fans, also new generations are one button click away from viewing your legacy via the Internet!! P will still be getting new fans daily! MOBB DEEP best hardcore group since Juvinile hell
since he past I can't stop watching his interviews & shows he did recently and I always loved his music but I wish I could seen this things when he was here because this dude is smart and engaging. no homo. rip P
P was really real! you can see how humble he was the way he responds and the time he takes to give his opinions they didn't called 'em prodigy for nothing.
wow in those first statements in this interview its such a good thing that an Interviewer who is part of hip hop media can admit thats how he feels about it...for 2 reasons..A.because he's right and hopefully it changes soon and B.sooo many people working in music media feels the same way about the bs things but they either ADD to the bs or act like the bs is the norm...so shout out to dude
watching this Interview with Prodigy with the way he talking about his relationship with Havoc and the future albums he was talking about they had coming makes me even more sad the Homie is GONE Rest Up Prodigy one of the Greatest Ever MOBB DEEP 4 LIFE
I don't think labels are driving music nearly as much as before. Cats aren't blowing due to label pushes anymore; they're blowing due to fan interest and building their careers on their own. The reason Yachty is popular has nothing to do with labels, and has everything to do with tastes having changed. More people would rather listen to fun, happy, simple shit than some politically charged, deeply lyrical hip-hop that doesn't care about being catchy/melodic.
p's right there are still great rappers with great messages like joey bada$$, montana of 300 ect. But the ceo's of these labels don't want these intelligent mc's on the radio spreading a real message.
Anyone else got chills from this now that he's passed (RIP P 🙏💔😞)? Like maybe he knew he was going out? Trying to tip us off? Just from the way he phrased some things, esp. part about Black Messiahs? These Illuminati rumors got me fucked up. I just hope P is still doing well wherever he is 😥😥😥
thing is, the labels arent as in control as they were in the 90s, these mumble rappers gained their following organically on social media, soundcloud, and youtube. The labels are just riding the wave, but labels don't control the ocean. the Ocean being the fans that like and share that music online.
K-Rino dropped 7 albums in one day. Does he get the credit he deserves for 30 years of solid rappin and setting a new world record and having a message? Fuck no. But I guarantee he's the best rapper you've never heard
There is a lane for all this shit. I ain't mad at yatchy. He ain't frontin like he a savage or a lyrical rapper. He spitin catchy and at times incoherent bullshit over up tempo happy beats and it's working.
