Fun fact for context: The song Boca is part of, and the second song, of their Dystopia trilogy series consisting of "Scream", and "Odd Eye" as well. The series is a commentary against online hatred, malicious comments, cyber bullying etc. and the song fit into the overaching storyline (which the fist song "Scream" uses a medieval witch hunt and a tree of language (their album ttitle) to symbolise how language became corrupted due to people saying mean things) by them going around to fight against such hateful language (hence, shut your "Boca"). The interesting aspect is that they do it by not just helping the targets and victims of online hate and malicious comments but also trying to convince and "save" those that are making such hateful comments by and "changing their mind", and thus restoring the tree of language (symbolised by the garden scene of the tree and the reverse waterdrop floating upwards).

Dreamcatcher are story tellers and the stories they tell are about aspects of being human and since Scream, Boca, and Odd Eye they've zeroed in on the harmful nature of social media and, more recently, environmental issues. They don't make empty pop songs and always have something to say that's well worth hearing.

Yes, Boca means "mouth" in Spanish and Portuguese and is part 2 of the Dystopia trilogy, which deals with bullying and hate comments, in particular the online variant ("A trick behind a mask, a ridiculous freak" from Scream). Boca has the lines "Why do you fill your precious time with hate" and "Too many angels dying now", which points to the effects those comments can have. Several Kpop idols have committed suicide in recent years, most likely because of cyber-bullying, but this is also about all the unnamed people who suffer from online bullies. A girlgroup tackling such a subject impresses the hell out of me. They literally go to war in this video and tell haters to go and shut their "Boca" in the lyrics. And the song is absolutely awesome! Who said you can't have three different musical genres in one song?

This song is part 2 of their Dystopia Trilogy. First part is 'Scream' and the third part is 'Odd Eye'. Basically the trilogy talk about 'the languages of hatred' around the world, like cyber-bullying, racism, hate speech, body shaming & everything in between. In 'Boca', this is from the POV of the saviour. They call out the hater, the cyber bully that spread hatred on the internet. Those that responsible for the d3ath of many bully victim because of s*icide.

Another cool fact about Dreamcatcher is that they have released all kinds of songs, title and b-sides, ranging from Rock to Nu Metal, to EDM, R&B, Jazz and Pop. And they always combine genres to create their own unique music style. Their discography is flawless, with over 7 hours of music. And let's not get started with their live vocals, their amazing dance and choreos and their funny, cute and dorky personalities.

Welcome to the Dreamworld. Their producer team Leez & Ollounder love to blend many subgenre of Rock & Metal with other genre. Dreamcatcher is one of the best example in K-pop world in term of genre-bending discography.

Their title tracks aren't as rock heavy as they used to be since they have found that sweet spot when it comes to rock fusion + EDM which makes their titles hit hard while also being dancable. Their most rock heavy songs are the b-sides like break the wall, rising, tension, mayday, new days etc. But their japanese releases are typically the heaviest like endless night, no more and dont light my fire. Shadow is their old school slow rock style ost with Siyeon ft Dami. As for influence, Their leader is a fan of baby metal, their main vocalist is a fan of one ok rock, babymetal and a bunch of pop rock artists and their CEO is a massive k-rock fan. A personal favourite of mine is their title track 'What' because the instrumental is gorgeous, it mixes rock with string instruments. I recommend listening to their live performances of the rock songs if possible,

I appreciate older Kpop reactors! You are right Dreamcatcher has more intellectually rewarding content - in terms of music, message, and their lore. And do story telling through their choreography. Also, they share some of their music production team with ATEEZ, even though they are at different companies. I would suggest checking out Deja Vu next - it is a stand alone mv, not part of any series.

So glad you enjoyed this! Dreamcatcher’s discography is so diverse and sophisticated… and basically it’s banger after banger after banger. Not sure if you both are into learning about members’ personalities deeper outside of the songs, but these ladies are absolutely hilarious offstage… very unfiltered, less focused on being “perfect” in their idol image, chaotic and a total good time. While they are consummate professionals and deliver insane performances onstage, offstage they are just the biggest lovable goofballs 😊

When you start do delve deeper into Dreamcatcher (and I deliberately say 'when', not 'if') you will surely notice their versatility. While all their title-tracks incorporate the rock sound that has become their signature sound to some degree, their b-sides are just as good (because Talent!) but cover many different genres from beautiful ballads, reggae, jazz, soul and EDM, to straight up metal. Another reason why their fanbase is as dedicated as is it, are the members personalities. In an industry that can rely heavily on popularity trends and image, Dreamcatcher have always been unapologetically their authentic selves with the support of their company. And their authentic selves are hilarious. Absolute professionals on stage, absolute agents of chaos off stage, which has made them much loved guests at variety shows. In short: Dreamcatcher, you come for the music, you stay for the members.

Dreamcatcher is the best group by far, 7 main vocalists, 7 dancers, 7 rappers, 7 comedians. They really don't have bad song & their b-sides are even better. And their latest one Shatter is the bomb! Must seen!

I would definitely say "Boca" is their least rock title track. The rock really only comes in during the chorus. I don't think I'll ever understand the people who think "OOTD" isn't rock. It literally goes so hard on drums and guitar lol

Dreamcatcher never disappoints. While their title tracks are definitely centered around the rock theme, the B-sides will take you through every other genre. Hopefully you'll eventually find your way to those after you go through the title tracks. Most of their title tracks follow a story line (in sets) so I hope you'll read through those comments that tell you about that. As for me, I always encourage people to pair the MV with a dance video, whether that be an official dance video, a dance practice, or a live stage. While the MV's show the visuals and vocals, their skill as dancers is often lost in the MV film. I hope you'll keep coming back. Come for the music. Stay for the girls.

The core of kpop is genre fusion, usually pop or R&B with rap, Dreamcatcher is the group that built their identity around fusion with rock/metal. Nowdays when kpop groups use rock/metal in a song people describe it as Dreamcatcher concept. They are also *real* singers and you can see they're never afraid to interrupt driving guitars to do something beautiful or sentimental when that matches the theme of the song. The most popular Dreamcatcher is their Dystopia trilogy about how language is used to harm others; Scream, Boca, and Odd Eye. There is another popular Apocalypse trilogy Maison, Vision, Bon Voyage. To switch up their most well-known sound there are songs like Deja Vu, Red Sun, And There Was No One Left, and many others (they really explore a ton of styles).

dreamcatcher \:D/ not that any of their title tracks are pure rock as western listeners are accustomed to, but you started off with their most 'kpop'-ish of title tracks with ootd and boca lol ;). that's to be expected I guess because these are the tracks kpop fans would like the most. boca is part 2 of their dystopia trilogy which exposes the darker sides of the internet/social media. part 1 and part 3 are scream and odd eye respectively. the dystopia trilogy is more on the pop-edm side which is probably why it's favored by kpop fans. their most recent trilogy is apocalypse with maison, vision, and bon voyage. the apocalypse trilogy uses more industrial rock/metal elements with maison/vision and since you mentioned anime vibes, try bon voyage lol :) in any case, all their songs are different because they always mix various genres in each song but almost never reuse a previously incorporated genre. for example boca as you mentioned has a reggaeton beat and that's not used in any of their other songs. which song you like will depend on your musical preference but they dreamcatcher will definitely have songs you will like because their discography touches all genres of music including many non-rock songs.

First time on channel, and enjoyed the commentary. One thing: given your comments about (generally) and interest in Dreamcatcher seeming 'smarter' in their presentation, I am surprised not to see (G)i-dle already in your reaction mix. I apologize if you already know, but if you have an interest in experiencing kpop that has an organized vision and considered, sophisticated message, then (g)i-dle is the top game in town. Their young leader, Soyeon, writes and produces most of the songs, at least effectively directs the visual expression in the MVs, and guides the group's evolution. If you'd like to jump into the deep end with (G)i-dle, I'd say check out 'Oh My God,' but my recommendation for first impression would be the MV for 'Lion,' Soyeon's clear declaration of identity and arrival.
