Hello. Wow was the perfect thing to say about this song. Truth Untold and House of Cards are perfectly sung ballads. Each vocalist allows themselves to express the vulnerability and longing of the lyrics in their own style, while staying true to the overall theme. I love how the power vocalist pull back so as not to overpower the softer voiced members. They've mastered the art of sharing a song, allowing it to remain cohesive, yet beautifully executed. Wow is the only proper response.

This song is from an Italian love tragedy. There is a man that lives in a castle with a garden. He feels that he is ugly so he wears a mask. One day he sees a young woman cutting some of his flowers in order to sell at market for food. Instead of getting mad he watches day by day. He then starts to develop a flower that is unique and lovely just as he sees the young lady to be. When he is finished the flower he notices that the young lady has not come to the garden lately. So he puts on his mask and leaves his walls in search for her. But unfortunately he finds that she has died from starvation. So he is left with a flower that reminds him of her and he regrets not approaching her earlier. It is a beautiful song that always touches my heart. The live performances are spectacular. The live performance in Brazil (I think) Jimin lost his voice and ARMY helped to fill in his parts. And Jk held him at the end because Jimin was very upset and his throat hurt him alot. The whole thing was very heart warming.💜

I can see that nobody yet mentioned that this song based on a story (made up by big hit) about a guy who lived in the castle, he was ugly so he hid there from everyone else. In his castle there was a garden of beautiful flowers. One day, he saw a woman stealing his flowers, I think she did it several times, so the man got curious what she did with them.. he put on a mask and followed her and learned she was selling them to live. So he decided to grew the most beautiful flower in the world so that woman could sell it for a good price. After some time the woman stopped coming, so he, again, put his mask, went outside to know what happened to her, and he learned she has passed away. Well, you can look it up for a more detailed story lol. Im just telling it from my memory.. Anyways, I always impressed with what they do for their comebacks.. they literally made up a whole story so they could write a song about that (or the other way around, who knows..) and I think for a long time people though it was a true story and bts just based the song off of that story lol.

Sooo as I watched you watching live (lol) in my head I heard Suga and Jhope version I don't know how it happened but it stuck in my head, and is living free there and comes out every time I hear this song and it is great, like really great, they had fun with it for sure. It was special episode of karaoke "Map of the song 7" it was for festa 2020. It is all fun, it is so worth watching , but I don't know if you know all the songs they sing there, but last song is Suga and Jhope and The Truth untold. (In the episode they sing: Ugh, Ego, Seesaw, Euphoria, Winter bear, Friends, The truth untold)

Yeah I'm like you, I'm not easily won over by ballads but this one floored me. It's still one of my favorite songs after several years. I love this song. The way the lyrics and the vocals convey the story is so beautiful. The Live performance is so amazing too. 💜 The vocal line really showcases their talent. For me, Jin stands out in this song. His parts got me so emotional. Can you please react to some k-bands? One of my favorites ballads from BTS along with "Louther than bombs" and "Your eyes tell" “Love Yourself” or loving oneself is a concept strongly promoted by BTS, where they insist that no one can love anyone or anything without loving oneself. Thus, their “Love Yourself” trilogy and their Map of the Soul album series portray the steps that would guide them to accepting and loving themselves. The song, “The Truth Untold” is a song that resonates with me a lot, since it emphasizes the manner in which lack of self-love leads to despair and demise (like me longtime ago). Since many people, struggle to accept and express ourselves The song makes a direct reference to Italian folklore - “La Citta di Smeraldo”. The story describes a man who is said to be “ugly” and lives in a castle all by himself. He is an illegitimate child of a duke and therefore, was the victim of the hate of the Duke’s wife and her children. Just like in Beauty and the Beast a young girl steals flowers from his majestic garden in order to make the ends meet. When he first sees the missing flowers, he becomes quite displeased and attempts to capture the thief. However, when he finds that it was a young girl, he disguises himself and looks for her. Subsequently, he realizes the truth and the dire situation of the girl. He then decides to introduce himself as well as to help her by creating an expensive flower. During this period, he unconsciously starts expecting her visits and gradually becomes attached to her. After a long-time, he successfully creates the most beautiful blue flower called “Smeraldo” (Emerald) and notices that she is no longer visiting his garden. He then learns about her unfortunate death and becomes agitated. It is said that he spends the rest of his life in despair and misery, contemplating whether her life could have been saved if he was able to face her. The moral of the story, as interpreted by BTS, is that people are entrapped in the depths of misery and darkness due to the lack of self-love and confidence. The protagonist would have probably felt much better, had he talked to her and confronted his fears and insecurities The imagery of the “sandcastle” and the “garden full of thorns” is symbolic of the way he seeks refuge in a fragile and transitory place full of insecurities and vulnerabilities. Moreover, they are similar in certain aspects since none of them have a name and identity. Besides, both of them seem to prefer hiding and confining themselves rather than expressing themselves. It portrays two individuals who are far from accepting themselves, since having an identity and knowing oneself is an important step towards self- love The song explains how the man prefers to masquerade his true self although deep down he wants to express his true self to the girl. Furthermore, he accepts the fact even though he has no identity for himself - “there’s no name you can call me”, he still desires to be acquainted It highlights how attempts to hide the shadow of his darkest secrets, referred to as the “monster”, behind a mask and a new persona, while knowing that it is futile and transient. "He" explains how worried and agitated he is due to his internal crisis and that the only way to survive is to keep faking a new persona until everything breaks down - leaving him alone and miserable. This is quite foreshadowing, as he is ultimately left alone yearning for love he never had In the final verses, he comes to the realization that the lack of courage and confidence in himself led to his demise. As for the technical aspect, such as the plosives, I have not seen any behind the scenes footage specifically for this song, but I have seen them record before, and they do have the screen to cut down on the plosives, but I noticed they also record very close to the mic. In particular with V, watch the Bangtan Bomb showing he and RM recording 4 o'clock. I particularly noticed it there. Also, the live footage of them singing this at the Speak Yourself tour is quite good.

Btw as far as I am concerned rewind as many times as you need. They recorded this song in hotels. At the time they were working on their first big concerts in the US the album came out in 2015 and they were just starting to get a bigger following. Some say it was releases in 2016 which means after they had "I Need You" hit big for them but it was actually released with the album in Nov 2015. So they were in the midst of their Red Bullet Tour when they were recording this song and at that time no big microphones and more often than not it was just the chair that came with their room they would put the mic on a table and go for it. There is a picture of P.Dogg doing the guitar riff in said chair in a hotel with the engeineering equipment on a credenza. As to why these songs were not singles, this one and "Take Two" they were both written for ARMY this song though release in Nov 2015 in the album they put it out as a song in May of 2016 and then preformed it for the first time as Festa 2016. It got such rave reviews that they put it in the next concert series but it originally was suppose to just be a song for ARMY, a one off. Take Two because of the situation they can not personally promote the song so I "think" they just decided to let it stand alone.

I saw some people tell you the story behind the song you can simply write in google Smelardo flower and you will get the story. It is tragic story. Smelardo flower is blue flower they sing about in song and in the flower’s language it mean “non potevo dire la verità” which is Italian for “the truth that couldn’t be told.” to this is how song connect with the story.... (Also to make sure you get it, smelardo flower is fictional, it isn't real flower) But if we leave the story, flowers, etc aside then song is simply about people scared to show theirs true self and hide from people they love and they wear masks, bc they thing very low about themself and think they atent worth of love if they show how they really are. ( My interpretation)

I hate the line that Jimin says “ I must hide because I’m ugly”. This is so far from the truth for him and it really hurts my heart to hear that come out of his mouth!!! He had so much hate for his looks in the beginning. People calling him fat and then him dieting to lose weight and hurting himself by doing that. First of all he is the most bet person I have ever seen inside and out. Yes he is HOT AF but he is so loving and caring to the other members. Always the first one to console them and to make sure they are ok. That line just makes me sad for him. 🥺🥺🥺

A wpuld so with some gray dark vibe, sad, maybe like somber Rapunzel (male version) vibe, some close off space, when you can only observe world outside, with blue flower that suddenly bloomed as center of story, one and only thing that gives color to this sad reality but in the end flowes die, or is picked hmm ... Something happens like that - flowes is no longer here and all goes back to how it was before he showed, like end would't bc hopeful...

as amazing as this song is to listen to, it is 1000000000000000000x better being performed live.......you need to look up ALL the performances and watch them.....also, and correct me if I am wrong ARMY as my memory isn't as reliable as it used to be, from I remember back then, Steve said he fell in love with the vocal line's voices and thought they were so amazing that he wanted to make a song for them that really showed off their vocals......People at the time were quite surprised because when they see Steve's name they automatically think EDM, etc....This has always been one of fave songs but again you MUST watch the lives!!! There is even a live performance where Jimin had lost his voice but tried to sing anyway and when he can't ARMY and JK start singing his parts and you can just see him crumble.......Beside all of this, how are you doing Amari? I would say album singles are always OT7, I try to think if there was exception but no, I'm sure it was always all members song. Hmm comback songs are solos, so here it is time to show different sides to bigger audience bc everyone watch comeback mv, but everyone listen to full album, sadly. But singles always OT7. I think it is fair and it should be like this, even tjo there is a lot b-sides that would be great as singles. But album single promote album and usually is the misyt performed song, so it would put inbalance in band and preparation for shows, if single would be unit song, etc. This song was on album Love Yourself: Tear, and single was Fake love and it give you vibe for album and Truth untold is acuslly next after Fake love in playlist on album. When you listen to album like it is mean to be listen you start with Singularity then Fake love then Truth untold - it is very strong start to album and more somber even tho Fake love is quiet energetic the theme still is more on sad side, then after this trio we got song "134340" that start to change vibe of album a little so we got 4 songs like this still not super energetic, topic still hard but more hopeful, and then we go into 3 songs that are dancy, energetic, one is stright edm, and last song is Outro Tear and this is back to begining with theme but is very strong, you can say even agresive. That is why listening to album in order have meaning. Suga alwas say that at least listen to album one time in order to get concept that they wanted to show. Bc they put a lot of thoughts in order of songs.
