@@sharvesh0369 if somebody wants to think that it's the best aoty then they're allowed to lmao, it's their opinion, and it's a subjective matter, who are u to tell them not to think that
did he hear himself when he said "it kinda gives you an expectation but it doesn't delivers it" about the instrummentals in Bad Friend and that's EXACTLY how Rina feels about herself through the lyrics on the song?? ugh her mind and his mind...
@@thejimwellsv i'm assuming he's referring to the lyric "I'm so good at crashing in, making sparks and shit, but then, I'm a bad friend." which implies how in the friendship, Rina is a fun person to be around and get lit with, but when it comes to going deeper in the relationship beyond fun and cool activities, she doesn't reciprocate a closeness or sensibility that her friend might expect from her

@@barbee756 did well I trump that again thank madonna for gaga also thank kerli brook candy. And 1000 other artist gaga stole from. They can be a million artist in the world it only takes a few to make a career out of stolen material. "Gaga"
@Elisabeth * Stop what? Who the hell are you to say what I can or can't say? That's my opinion, if you don't agree, that's fine. I didn't say anything wrong.
Rina should get all the awards for the album opening alone. I can't remember the last time I listened to an album with an opening as strong as "Dynasty". When the album first dropped, it took me a good 40 minutes to even get to track 2 because of how I kept running "Dynasty" back.
She actually praised Gaga several times and i can hear the influence u r talking about. There's also a possibility she is opening for Gaga in her upcoming tour.
rina did say (on her rina tv youtube channel) that after she received the original final mix from her mixer, she requested that the vocals were brought up on all of the songs except akasaka sad. she said its because her diction was getting lost in the mix of the initial mix.
The music video for "XS" is genius, too. I recommend reacting to that video, first, then "STFU!" would be my second. She also has videos for "Commes Des Garcons" and "Bad Friend". All of her videos for this album are great and convey a deep message. "SAWAYAMA" is subversive indie-pop that upcycled the formulaic mainstream sounds of the 90s through early 00s. "SAWAYAMA" is what you get when your pop star is a Cambridge grad and has a political science degree.
Comme Des Garcons has been stuck in my head for DAYS, and it felt SO damn familiar and I couldn't figure out why. ARTPOP!!! OH MY GOD THANK YOU FOR SAYING THAT. I've loved Gaga for years and now I love Rina. I've had her whole discography on repeat since this album came out. :')
Tbh, Comme Des Garcons is more Chromatica than ARTPOP, since Gaga's best album (ARTPOP of course) is more reliant on EDM, Chromatica is more house/dance-pop, which Comme Des Garcons leans more closely into than EDM. But yeah, I love that song and her whole, seamless discography honestly :))
@@mashthempotatoesplease5401 you're right, actually! I think Comme Des Garcons definitely sounds more like a Chromatica than ARTPOP, but I think that Comme Des Garcons is more ARTPOP in content, since it relies so heavily on this stylistic interpretation of class and persona, which ARTPOP did a lot of, a la Donatella. Also, I thought the parts where she speaks her lyrics in a cool monotone was like ARTPOP lmao
@@gilbertbelsma4576 Ohh, yes! I thought you meant sonically lol, nevermind. Lyrically it's definitely ARTPOP-esque. Very Donatella, like you said, or maybe Fashion! or even Mary Jane Holland. Although I think that the speaking parts were more Chromatica (just Babylon actually lol) but yeah, I agree lol
what i love about XS is that when the song progressing, it gotten more dystopian/dark and desperate (i hope this make sense lmao). the song is about capitalism which i think the production (the melodies at the beginning and the rock/metal guitar) make sense and is actually genius. the way that she sings near the end also fits well to the meaning of the song imo. in conclusion, the song and the album is a masterpiece. so stream XS and eat the rich😌✨
Clarence Clarity is who signed Rina and is actually a dope artist too. Tons of critical acclaim from typically “indie” publications for how avant-garde his pop is. Everything you loved about the mixing of different genres is taken to level 1 million on his debut!
The extra sound bites at the end of Fuck This World are from two songs from her debut EP RINA (Take Me As I Am and 10-20-40 respectively)! I’d love a review of her EP! It’s soooo good
I think you're gonna love Victoria Monet's most recent album JAGUAR , it has drums , trumpets , electric guitar , tbh a masterpiece , wildly underrated
His face at 1:03:29 was fantastic! I will never forget how I felt the first time I heard this album, especially that beautiful build on Snakeskin. Hearing this the very first time, I was just as spellbound and electrified as I was by M.I.A.'s Kala, Santigold's first album, and Janelle Monae's Archandroid! Rina, if you ever get to read this, thank you so much for your hard work. The fact that it is such a personal journey you took us listeners on only made it even more special, and unique. I can't WAIT to watch you become the superstar that you deserve to be!!!
My unstable quirk is that I watch all my videos in 2x speed to optimize time. This was a rollercoaster to listen to the music in while paying attention to the reaction. This is a great video btw.
Rina said the reason the vocals are pushed forward is so you could actually hear what shes saying. She asked them to push her vocals forward in every song except Akasaka Sad. Actually makes sense since u can barely understand what shes saying in that song.
I saw Rina live a few years back cuz I was blessed enough to find her and hop of the train really early and the show was in a tiny little venue in NYC (Mercury Lounge) and this girl....Clarance Clarity was there providing live audio mixing, she brought out Shamir as a guest, and she had BACKUP DANCERS. It was the most iconic concert I have ever been to
To answer your question at the end of Dynasty - Clarence Clarity is Adam Crisp's pseudonym. Same dude. He and Rina are kind of adjacent to the PC Music/hyperpop movement, which if you haven't looked into at all, holy shit you have a journey ahead of you. (he's also the one doing the screams at the end of STFU!) Also, this is my opportunity to recommend something - 1000 gecs. You can't have a production reaction channel and not do 100 gecs.
@@bachnguyen9212 oh, I'd love to see both! I'm kind of shocked he hasn't covered Charli at all yet, but I would admittedly love to watch him just jump into gecs completely cold.
Why haven't I seen the producer's name come up once? Clarence Clarity and his albums are seriously some of the most original and dynamic albums I've ever heard. You can hear his genre melding all through this project and his solo projects are insane. Genuinely think that he is one of the greatest minds of our time. No joke.
ALBUM OF THE YEAR !!! i can’t believe how unique and how diverse this album is. rina is such a talented power house and im absolutely in love with this album!

so sad Rina does not have as that much recognition, she's hugely talented, like this is a debut album. SAWAYAMA was one of my contenders for aoty, but it wasn't even nominated ): I loved your reaction btw :)

I really love reactions like this. It makes me learn deeper and notice more things I don't usually hear until you explained it. Thank you for reacting to Rina! I hope you do one for her first EP too!
Watching you geek out over the production on this album was so enjoyable to watch. You radiate so much joy and it's infectious. Thank you for making my night!
definitely my favourite reaction to her album so far ! you’re such a sweet person and seem like such a nice person to be around, it’s obvious you’re really passionate about music too :) i subscribed instantly
"Chosen Family" is her song for the LGBTQ+ community (Rina is pansexual. See the "Cherry" video, which is her music video coming out). "Chosen Family" also sounds like Jessie J's "Flashlight", although I'm sure that's a coincidence.
Watching you listen to "Chosen Family" for the first time has made me so happy this morning. I adore that song and feel like it gives the best ballad Roxette could have ever hoped to release, especially with the MIDI guitar at the end.
According to Spotify this would be her sophomore. Her debut album would be Rina, released in 2017. But on Allmusic that one is listed as an EP. Interesting...although it has 8 tracks, I guess it qualifies, because it's under 25 minutes.
@@Brax1982 Rina is an EP but streaming apps list EPs and mix tapes under albums a lot based on length not the actual qualification of being an album. So it SAWAYAMA is her debut. Similarly Billie Eilish’s first big project was an EP not an album so she is only on her Sophomore album with HTE (just a fun fact).
YESSSSSSSSS CANT DESCRIBE MY EXCITEMENT WHEN I SAW THE NOTIFICATION FOR THIS!!! i've been requesting ever since the album came out in april and i thought you would never actually react to it haha i'm really glad you enjoyed it, i think you should definely check out her other songs, she also has an EP and i think you would really like it too..
For context, a love hotel is a hotel that you can rent rooms for a couple hours to “rest” but has more popularly been used for things like casual sex. My first impression was someone wanting a more serious relationship rather than a fling. But Rina meant it more along the lines of the short term obsessing over Tokyo/ Japanese culture but not caring about the people and their issues.
Clarence Clarity is Adam Crisp haha. He used to be in metal/punk type bands. So the influence is definitely there! His albums No Now and Think: Peace are amazing! Would love to see you react to those!
I think you would love any project by Allie X, she has a upbeat pop sound with darker messages, her most recent project is named "Cape God", you should react to it!
