He’s honestly left everyone speechless. Especially to those of us who’s only seen a certain side of him. Everytime we think BTS have shown us everything, they prove us wrong. (Loved your reaction btw)
@@marissa1341 oh definitely this isn’t surprising per-say, we all know these boys have different sides to them waiting for the right opportunity to be showcased. Seeing those sides being fully fleshed out is just always gonna shake me lol
@@marissa1341 totally agree because this was actually my original image of jimin when i first got into BTS then i started seeing his softer side. it feels like he has come full circle
It's really cool to hear a true music professional give such an accurate opinion for this song. Jimin literally left many speechless, he made a song on another level.
yes exactly! and not those youtube channels where people pretend they are 'producers' or have knowledge of music, and just use any excuse to criticise and be hateful...
Thanks for your reaction and your support. Jimin looks stunning in this video and the dancers are amazing to. Like I said once you JimIN you can't JimOUT.
" I've never heard him sound like this. He's grown so much" I THINK THIS PHRASE IS TRUE TO THE FACT 100%. This solo not only was his debut it perfectly showed EVERYONE his diverse vocals and how he can shine so brightly as a solo artist. He portrayed not just his usual singing but sang so uniquely in the song as well! Thats one reason why i love this song so much, so shows the TRUE jimin that is so diversly talented!
I fully believe this is Jimins anthem. I think while part of bts he thought or they told him you have to be this cute loveable sometimes goofy kid, which is part of him, but this is another side of him I think he kept hidden. The group mentioned a few times he is the most scariest when mad, well he just stepped into the spot light and made everyone know he is his own person, his grown and he is ready for us all to see all of him. Im so proud of him right now. He has definitely put himself in a position to easily be one of the best in all of the music industry.
I think Jimin is exactly like we see. It's imposible to act during 10 years. But a person is not just one thing, of course he gets angry or sad like everyone else. I think what he is talking about is the fact he can not talk openly about his feelings. He can not answer haters, or the lies the media publishes. He can't talk about his sexuality or the person he loves. He has to follow so many restrictions to be able to be a part of BTS... And then during the pandemic, even more restrictions, having to stay at home. He says at the end he realized he is the only one who can set himself free, freeing his own mind of all this.
The terms "cute" and "adorable" are an Integral part of his personality. He does not play at being "cute", he is naturally. And unlike you, I'm totally convinced that Jimin is not "scary" you really have to stop with this label (this was mentioned once, by jk, just once and haters clung to it to talk about Jimin negatively). When jhope did the clip "jack in the box" we didn't say he was crazy. On the other hand, I'm compleately sure that Jimin is directly addressed to the hateful morons and other brainless by the lyrics of this song, and for that I say CONGRATULATIONS MY SO TALENTED JIMIN!
Jimin is just as he is yr words just say he is acting for 10 years…. Jimin is the cute and beautiful boy that we know but he has many sides that aren’t shown just like how hobi went from brightness to drak .. all of the members have many ways to do their art but their personalities are already clear, no one can tell any members to not do what they want or be what they want
To me the auto-tune makes it feel like all of this is happening in his head, like it’s creating a eco of the voices in his head and not saying out loud. So I really liked it, him battling his demons internally.. awesome reaction ✌🏽✌🏽
Yes the autotune was there for creative effect and not to cover up his voice. Jimin's voice is amazing, the message of the song is perfect, the choreo is fantastic. What else can you ask for
Oh my Jimin has been training and educating his voice for a long time. He wanted a change. And wow if I succeed. I expected something different but this just took my mind to another level. I am so proud of him. Wait for his record, Blake, you will surely analyze it and you will be delighted. i love your channel💜💜💜💜
Hi blake. Set me free pt 1 is actually Yoongi's D-2 mixtape song Interlude : Set me free. As both songs are about Freedom hence jimin named this song as pt 2 even though there's no reference with yoongi's interlude : set me free I hope this helped! Thanks for supporting bangtan & jiminie 💜
"Set me free part 1" = Set me free by Agust D on D-2! This is what Jimin said in an interview: "There isn’t a connection, and we weren’t trying to divide part one or part two, But since it turns out my song talks about freedom and moving forward, and SUGA’s song talks about some of the stories that come before, I thought it would be good to come after that.”
At this point, I’ve gone numb after hours of fangirling and internalized screaming. I can’t believe this is reality, I can’t believe after all these years, *this* Jimin was under all those layers. Even for us, Jimin-biased stans, we were NOT expecting this at all. My lord, what has he done 😂 ++also at [4:26] I couldn’t agree more! BTS know *exactly* where to place the exaggeration of autotune, it doesn’t work for lots of artists, but BTS *perfectly* place it in songs like Anpanman, UGH, Jhope’s verse in Run BTS, Singularity, Interlude:Shadow and now Set Me Free Pt.2! For stylistic reasons, it just works! (P.s: Suga has “Interlude: Set Me Free” in his mixtape from 2020, that’s why. They’re two completely different songs)
@@whatisilyionlyknowipurpleyou The style is different. I agree to that. But Jimin made his song into a continuation of that song (which was not his plan when he made the song at first) so a context/connection exists. Which isn't neceaarily readable out of your writing. I'm sorry. You nice! Keep going! 💜
We can’t box him , we can’t put him in a box kkkkk, he has given us so many layers of him throughout the years … he is not scared of trying new things, and do it ..
This was funny, it took you like 3sec from when he started singing to like “wait this is Jimin right.”. My same reaction...I was like wait What, What? My mouth stood open & my jaw dropped to the floor. I can’t get over how AMAZING he sounds, this MV, Choreo, everything is MASTERPIECE. I’m sure he’s seen how well his new song is doing....Feel proud Jimin, you are Exceptionally talented. Really enjoyed your reactio
I love this performance from him!!! The dancers were amazing! Every unexpected vocal tune of his voice was mind blowing! EPIC PERFORMANCE!!! Visuals, vocals, dancing instruments and choreo, all on point! Congrats Jimin!!!
I see some people complaining about the autotune but I think the way the autotune was used was so right it just gave a powerful notch to the song, with the beat like that you need everything to be in a powerful kind of way and the autotune suited the song so well
@@maznahmohd3836 it's used in studios to alter the pitch of a voice recording, sometimes it is used to correct some off notes and some people use it in a stylistic way
It’s unbelievable watching grownup men tear up in shock while watching this Jimin’s masterpiece. Vocal coaches, producers, dancers all alike. I cried like a baby from the sheer beauty of it when it came out. ❤😭🤩😭💜😭🐥😭🎶😭🕺🏻😭
His real voice in first part, that’s him! Usually when he speaks English in a funny way from his Run BTS and some concerts. Remember the “Yes, I’m Jimin. J I M I N video same voice .. this Set me Free destroyed all Genre, we can call it Jimin Genre 🔥♥️
thank you for reacting💞 i also saw lots of people saying the autotune is bad but i think artistically the autotune sounds and fits the song very well! and the rap part sound way more ”stronger” that way. interlude shadow by suga also had ”heavier” autotune and i think that makes the song even cooler😅
I liked the song too however I am definitely one of those people who found the autotune bit wasn't my cup of tea. However, I can definitely see the artistic intention of it's use.
Powerfull art by Ji-Min (BTS)🔥💜 Sometimes is just time to sit back and injoy the art - like painters work (but there are allways people who whining Monet is messy or Dalis clock dont look real🙄, happily we are free to laugh at them😂). Greetings from the edge of Europe
3:56 : "He's not mochi." 😄 Jimin is a genius for expressions of Joy, anger, despair, hope which are performed by his incredible, angelic and beautiful vocals, his powerful, stretchy, speedy, smoothly, sharp, elegant, balanced, and perfect dancing, and his body motions that expresses deep emotions inherent in human beings. Jimin is a master and a perfectionist of both popularity and artistry. I'm proud of Jimin too, McLain. I enjoyed your videos so much. I'm glad you're part of this, going over Set Me Free Pt. 2.
Me too I felt chill and amazing when the first time i heard his grown voice. It's literally get me to another atmosphere and just lost in my own world. He is so great
I'm so thankful and so grateful to be in the same era as Jimin, he's a treasure the whole universe should be thankful for. Jimin is a unicorn because his type is rare. He just proved himself to all those haters who thought he was only about being cute and adorable. He's a fucking PIECE OF ART,no he's the biggest museum of art ever to exist!!! 😎
Jimin jis a full grown man and artist. his dance and vocal are powerful. this is his declaration of independance. He gave an interview about FACE (solo album) and mentionned when his Dad listened to it he cried, He did not understand what his son had been through and why he was so deeply hurt and purging so much. A postscript there is alot of tough stuff here: artistic identity, sexual identity, freedom from South Korean cultural norms...his dad is the ony parent who uses his son's wealth and success to become a socical butterfly and ambitious political hanger on in SK. tough issues.
Чимин, это грандиозно, великолепно, ошеломляюще, вау, вау, вау, круто! Рэп Чимина вообще потрясающий!! Мы тебя любим и всегда и везде будем поддерживать!! 🔥💜 Спасибо за реакцию! 🥰
Exactly! He's grown so much..meaning he perfected his craft in dancing and pushed himself to hone his voice and own singing style. Such a role model to look up like..."to never settle for what you can do, strive to develop your weak points"
I'm surprised that people don't know Jimin's always had this side to him. Lie, Filter, Tony Montana, Daechwita, Chicken Noodle Soup...he's always had this side to him.
Thank you for your insightful comments on this! I have the same thoughts with you about the autotune - it is truly artistically used and not for the purpose of voice improvement. The sound, concept, and choreography is spellbinding in this video. The scale of it is insane and I should have expected Jimin to produce something so phenomenal like this
When I heard him on Vibe I was excited because he was using his voice differently there and it made me think he'd been working on developing some new sounds... I wondered what we'd hear him do with his voice on this album and he didn't disappoint 😂 He uses several voices in this one song, wtf man... Between that and the choreo it's like he pulled out every trick for this. And there are more songs! With you on the autotune. I think it was supposed to be uncomfortable, and it works. The whole thing is such an artistic piece. And it's so him, and also has so many roots in earlier BTS work. I hear you on the pride... I'm glad Jimin didn't play it safe and do things he knows we love. He trusted us to go with him. All of them have done that so far, and we've gotten brilliant albums out of it, and songs like Arson and Wildflower and now Set Me Free pt 2. The part two: Yoongi has a Set Me Free on D-2 and although it wasn't originally intentional, Jimin thought they went together well. I think there might also be a meaning where he's hoping that part 2 of his career will be setting him free. Actually, RM did that on Indigo with Change pt. 2 - no clue if Jimin was thinking the same way. I loved watching you struck speechless. I reacted the same way... It was hard to believe it was him 🤣 but damn am I in love. I can't wait for a live performance of this - no clue how they'll arrange it. I hope we all survive 😂
The best experience about this song is how EVERY SINGLE PERSON has been completely unprepared/shocked by what Jimin brought with this song. He is certainly that one person that though u expect the unexpected/ expect to be surprised, the output still supersedes your preparation for it. You just can't prepare for Jimin..... u just gotta sit back and experience whatever it is he decides to serve you.
To my own understanding about SMF so many good singers get crticised for using autotune.. but he is doing it to change the texture and using it as a creative element” intellectuals will only get how and why jimin is using autotune to perfect the delivery of his song in a creative way The autotune makes his vocals sound almost muffled giving a suffocated feeling.Expresses so well how he felt trapped and is finally setting himself free. Also the second voice in the back sounds like his thoughts in his own brain of it makes sense On top of that jimin is a singer that usually enunciates very well each word he sings while in some parts he’s melting the words together slurring them and this definitely adds to the effect
4:31 THANK YOU FINALLY SOMEONE THAT GETS IT I’m sick of ppl trynna hate on the song bcs of the damn autotune he’s literally meant to sound that way that’s why he used it
There is no part 1. Sugar made a song called Set Me Free. Set Me Free is a very exciting move for Jimin I think. Like Crazy is perhaps more like what you were expecting. But my favourite track fom the album is pure Jimin as we know him, called Letter. It is a sublimely intimate, delicate and purely angelic vocal.
I've seen a lot of people complain about the autotune but honestly... this is the first time that they've used it that I don't have a problem with it... it sounds right. I couldn't help but notice that at the end when he gets lifted it actually reminds me more of the black swan art film where the 'black swan' is stuck in a cage... I think it's in reference to that so the title kind of makes sense. Also with Jimin saying that he wants to set himself free.
Yes sir, his vocal change ways in this song. Sounds like an epic cinematic with the choir background. I love his vocal n he grows so much under our eyes.
Army please don’t forget to stream the song on Spotify and other music platforms and also Jimin will be in Jimmy Fallon on the 23rd& 24th NYC Next week please show him alot of love
Yeah~it’s so amazing how BTS members continue to improve and develop so much even after 10 years of being a pop idol..Jimin told the Army that he continues to take vocal lessons
The artistic autotune also conveys chaos. Like he's getting free of it or he's embracing it. Either one works. This doesn't surprise me, I was waiting for him to do something like this. He's mentioned in previous asides, like documentaries or Run BTS, he doesn't like doing the cute stuff everyone wants him to do. He just kinda accepted it and it became part of his persona. I've always seen him as someone who has a steel of spine and great will and determination. This showed that. But also someone that can be so caring and soft for people who need, like his other songs. He's much more versatile than some think. So I'm glad he's getting out of other people's perceptions of him, and being Jimin. He's going to go so far doing so.
Been watching so many dance shows like world of dance and so you think you can dance, but I’m never been this mesmerized by someone as much as Jimin does. He’s freaking slaying every moves, from modern to hip hop. His dance lines are out of this world. His hands dance with him, and he’s staring at the camera while doing all those moves. He is simply amazing!
I listened to the track through headphones without the visual, you should try it. The auto tune is layering with the natural vocal parts, like peaches and cream, which is very creative for this song. There are also multiple harmony layers (all Jimin) which is usual for BTS content. The song in itself is not complex or clever, it's a carefully constructed performance paired with laser sharp choreography which displays all of the elements that make Jimin who he is. His vocal is unique, not strong or polished but he makes the absolute most of the tone and talent. Hearing his low tone at the start really gives a shock, a deliberate jab at his' no more dreams' performance, of which he wishes to move on from, but those high notes are what feed us. It is raw without the proverbial 'viscera'. It smacks you in the face, which is how it allows Jimin to escape his past. Nothing is accidental and it delivers with precision.
What I really love about them is they just go around the boundaries. This is his first solo album he could have just settled for a generic pop hit. That will be popular and successful but he didn't, he took the risk, he faced his deepest thoughts in this album that's why it's called face, along with the tracks' title that tells a story. Face-off, alone, set me free, like crazy. Notice how thought provoking the titles as a whole. I really think Jimin succeeded to express his point. I actually avoided this whole album because I felt very UNEASY after hearing the songs. After forcing myself to listening to his songs everything made sense all songs grew on me. I realized the real point of it, facing yourself is very uncomfortable because we're used to running away. As I observed, his MV's are not for everyone who are very conservative he's literally putting every taboo in the kpop industry. There was never a BTS MV that has kissing scenes or at the bar. In his set me free, he showed his upper body with tattoos which are a taboo also for some people. And he used very heavy auto tunes to represent his dark self. A lot of people hate auto tunes. He knows hate will come at him, and he hates being on the cage of fearing hate, fearing people's opinions, people's expectations of him that why he's fighting to set him free. Free from people and free from himself. I believe this album will not be his last since it's very clear he hasn't found himself and his sound yet, but this album is a must for him to create a new sound. Just like Taylor swift's reputation album which was controversial but she needed that era to proceed to her legendary eras
It’s always so fun and cool to watch people react to jimin and be shocked at his vocals. Old jimin and new jimin mixed together, the high tone and low i love it
Thank you for mentioning to view the official MV to support Jimin. 💜 I don’t think viewers realize this. But yes, it’s not the Mochi that we’re used to hearing. lol He’s showing us who he really is or become and I’m loving it. I can’t wait to hear the rest of the album.
The poem that Jimin has witten on his body says. "I live my life in increasing orbits that move over the things of the world. I may never be able to achieve the latter, but tht will be my intent. i'm circling around god, around the ancient tower, and i've been circling for a thousand years, and i still don`t know if i'm a hawk, or a storm, or a great song"
I was kinda hoping for commentary on the production of the music itself lmao but I completely understand and relate to the shock and excitement of just hearing such a masterpiece. Love your videos
omg...surprised again just like what he did on tony montana...i love the vibing and grinding...jiminisi you're awesome!!!!! it's a banger! love you jiminisi congratz!💜💜💜
Dark , It's a dark song. A Masterpeace. It's an Epic song and even if I'm not a huge fan of bts, this boy is an Amazing Artist. Looks like this song , talking about his own problem thing with depression. . . German poem in his chest , is also Epic.
The look on your face was exactly like mine last night at midnight. Total goose bumps and thrill. Epic. That is all I could say.... EPIC. He said this album is Jimin RAW and there it is. When he hits some of the higher notes you can hear the Jimin that we are accustomed to. He simply hasn't been allowed to use his full register. I absolutely love the smoky quality of his lower register. And, well, the dancing. Amazing. He will be performing on Jimmy Fallon on Monday and Tuesday I think??? I can't wait to see this song live and to see the rest of the album.
I have been on this BTS journey for five years now...and this chapter 2 is just blowing my mind. I am so happy to live in this time to actually be present when this is all happening in real time. This song, sound is literally tugging at my heart....It is beautifully painful...I want to cry my eyes out but not out of pain...it is a release..."set me free" makes sense now. Even as a group, BTS have always been musically diverse...they did not limit themselves to one genre or one sound...and as individuals they all had different tastes & influences...but they worked so well together as a team. Their diversity is just being solidified during Chp2...they get to explore their own individuality...discover their own individual sound...and grow as artists. No matter what happens down the road, I know one thing for sure...wether hey continue to work as a group or individual artists, I'll keep supporting them.
I think with every solo release BTS confirms why they are so so big. They are 7 superstar artists. Imagine the growth of the group on their next BTS project?
I had the same question this morning about part 1, and here’s what I learned. Set me free (part1) is a track off of Suga’s D2 mix tape. The are both great and on opposite ends of the style spectrum. Listen to it, it’s great in a whole different way. Suga is mostly known for aggressive and gritty, but Interlude: Set me free sounds like music you’d hear in a dream. Jimin is known for his mostly angel-like sweet vocals. Set me free (part 2) is aggressive and gritty. So unexpected…I really, really love it! ❤❤❤
Thank you for your reaction, Blake and welcome to Chapter 2 Jimin. Certainly a drastic departure from his previous work - intensely dramatic with the awesome choreo and the changes to his vocals thanks to Pdogg's producer skills. I wonder if it's intentional that he sounds like Suga in some of those lines. And like you said, each of the members have impressed and delighted us with their solo works and I am so proud of their success.
