This song is so dope. The song is so Korean because it was made for the 2018 LoL World Championship which took place in South Korea, plus LoL is huge in SK from what i know of. Also the characters are actually playable champions from the game Soyeon: Akali , Miyeon: Ahri aka washing machine girl, Jaira Burns: Kai'sa and Madison Beer: Evelynn aka villainous glasses girl

This song IS produced by riot lmao. Riot actually produces all their songs and their animations are usually made by separate companies even though they have they're own animation team

There is a live version where they performed it at the LOL World Championships in SK which has a little twist, definitely worth a quick reaction. Also Riot doesn't claim reactions like Korean broadcasting stations do if your worried about getting strikes from a live. A little added bonus is Ahri the character on the washing machine has a lot of links to SNSD, her dance and one of her recall animations are SNSD choreos but also she has a popstar skin which is the outfit from Genie and if you look closely you can see that's what she's getting washed in the scene she's first shown in.

If you notice the "camera" continuously zoomed out in every single shot till the video stopped. It never went towards the girls, truly popstars, always unreachable in a sense.

First minute of content: "RIOT is not behind this..." Oh, mate, you have no idea... lol...They have a full department just for dev sound and music content to address new champs, games, and events.

The whole background was that the League of Legends World Championship Finals were held in Korea, and with every championship Riot releases song, G-idle were rapping and singing in Korean because they were held in Korea and in the lore of Lol, the character are koreans, Soyeon is Akali and Miyeon is Ahri. This wasn't a random collab, Riot games produced the whole thing, they even had and "interview" with the characters and there was a performance with live CGI during the finals.

This music video literally made me play LOL. It completely blew me away.

The animation was done by a French company out of Paris, song and other things done by Riot Games. Jaira Burns was singing the chorus and most of the high background notes. Madison Beer's character was the one with the glasses like you figured.

On your own time if you want I think you'd really like to see the RISE cinematic for LoL or the new Awaken one too! Some of my favourite music comes from LoL cinematics 😄

I'm not sure, but I assume it _was_ Riot who put it together, since the whole thing was basically an advert for their new popstar skins. And yeah, Miyeon was Ahri, the fox-girl, Madison was Evelynn, with the claws, and Jaira was Kai'sa, with the wings.

Riot made the song. League Of Legends’ music comes from their own artists. They asked these singers to collab on their song for their World Championship of 2018, which was held in Korea. I also think it was their own director with their own artist team. A lot of artists in Riot like kpop (some characters even dance to SNSD (including 1 that appears in the mv). I think they’ve done a lot of research. You may not like LoL as a game but the artist and storyline team always does sooo much research. ALSO: ALL the shots are filmed zooming out. The only one that doesn’t is like 1 second in the tunnel when the car comes towards you, but even then the tunnel pans out. You’re welcome, you can’t unsee that now. :) Some more stuff; there’s a lot of little easter eggs for those who play League Of Legends, obviously. the animation is a mix of 2 and 3D. The explosion near the end is 2D as well as the rockets right before it. The most is 3D tho. Also, the ‘villaines’ girl with the glasses is a shadow lady in game that lures men towards her to kill them. So yeah, she’s pretty evil.

The one with sunglasses is Madison beer and her champion or character that she plays/sings as is Evelynn, a succubus, demon thingy. Jaira on the other hand plays/sings as Kai'sa, dont know much about her character aside from the shell thats growing from her back that shoots rockets or some shit?? Also Kai'sa's position in the group is supposed to be the dancer, but gosh darn it why didn't she get more lines?? Miyeon and Soyeon play Ahri and Akali respectively.

Finally got around to support you on patreon cuz of this, since I couldn't wait :D Love KDA Popstars even as somebody who doesn't play or knows much about League Of Legends. Might be my favourite kpop music video from 2018 and I say this as BLINK who loved Blackpinks Ddu-Du Ddu-Du and the Square Up mini album this year. I think Popstars could be even a Teddy Park / YG production, performed by Blackpink. It is so similar in attitude and style. Maybe that is part of the reason I love it so much. But Miyeon (Ahri) and Soeyon (Akali) are just amazing in this. So the video also got me more attached to G-Idle.

It's Riot Music production who did this song, they are really aware of the way of doing a song, they worked with the Skin team and Lore team for skin theme and this theme is kda, they did it because World 2018 take place in South Korea and they always try new things in their way of creating product for Lol, this KDA group have his own story and Lore that exist in LOL Lore. I don't think it's a director that did the production for this song it's the result of multiple brainstroming between the 3 team and with the vision of what they wanted they had given the directory to the Animation Studio to incorporate the song.

The song is actually produced by Riot Games (their in-house studio which also makes all the music for the game and it's character themes). They make really good music overall. You should totally check out their discography! As for the actual music video, it was outsourced by FORTISCHE studios. They did such a splendid job. The dance animations were mocapped by the actual singers too! i believe the washing machine scene is a nod to an inside joke in the lol community of the amount of skins the character has (miyeon's, sorry idk the character or if this is totally true but i think this is the reasoning for this mv in particular) for bts' spring day people theorize it symbolizes the windows of the sewol ferry when it sank. jennie's solo is probably symbolizing a change in character and cleansing herself from the past. as for pristin, i think it was just aesthetic purposes since the weewoo scenes weren't really meant to be interpreted i believe, unless pristin fans have something to add to this?
