Yeah, I do agree, but I think they should have just titled it 'Dance Practice - Set vers. (One Take)' or something. Or at the very least shot it with a better quality camera. I got my hopes up when I saw the notification for the performance video, thinking we'd be able to appreciate the set and choreography better. (Unlike PD, I thought the set was a nice contrast to the instrumentals, and helped bring the 'Black Heart' theme to life). So yes, I was a little disappointed because of that, but at least M-net's camera work provided us with a video that does the song and choreography justice! :)
the members said the song was inspired by the great gatsby and honestly i can hear it. shame that i couldn't *see* it though... they really did mess up what could have been the most amazing concept for the boys.
i'm sorry but i fail to see where the performance is greatest showman inspired and that's the problem. the point is that the absolutely amazing song and choreography were pulled back by the absolute atrocities that are the mv and styling
The producer of the track is Ryan Jhun who worked with a lot of big groups/names before (EXO, Taeyeon, Girls Day, Taemin, F(X), Red Velvet, Produce 101 Season 2 - Nayana etc.). One of the other songs that recently came out was Taeyeon's 'Something New'. It's a shame that the song has so much potential but the company fucks the MV's up so much.
Juliette Moon very very true. I think the low budget from the company for the mv is not giving them justice. The members write and compose other songs on the album too they need more recognition ;-;
This may be just me, but I was really wanting some zoot suit look or something. This music has such a big band, jazzy feeling to it, and the outfits should match that.
"More flips in kpop" As a former coverist I almost panicked with that statement, I was Winwin once and for 2+ months I couldn't remember my knees' skin real color (or even what a knee was lmao)
I know the piano scene would be your favorite hahaha and "Blackheart Music Video Staff, they're all criminal" couldn't agree more your reaction is probably most of the world's reaction seeing this mv tbh
I agree SO much on this. You should watch their performance live on MCD for this song, it's so much better. It's colorful, it focuses much more on the dancing, they have colorful clothes, everything is much more better. I'm so mad about this, because the song is so good, so bright, and the members choreographed such a good choreo, very interesting very colorful as well, with tumbling and such a good vibe and this MV is trash. MBK (because yes they are the ones managing them) is very bad. So bad. I still remember their MV for SPEED - Why I'm not, such a good song for such a bad MV. Anyway, MBK is basically one of the only agencies in this indsutry I really hate, and I'm mad xD.
OMG I thought the same, I was so shocked because in the comment section everyone was so nice about it. I thought I was losing my mind. I honestly think they deserved way better for all the effort that they have putted to be in this group.
*when you said the choreography was like a circus IMAGINE IF THEY HAD DONE SOME KIND OF CIRCUS CONCEPT FOR THE MV LIKE GREATEST SHOWMAN VIBES OMG IMAGINE*
That piano in the bridge actually made my jaw unhinge and fall to the floor. As a The Unit watcher, seeing this growth from so many of my favorites including the younger members and the angel of The Unit, Daewon, it's just heartwarming. I love watching people grow and seeing them successfully revamp their careers is a plus. Definitely tuning into at least their titles from here on, the production is very promising if they continue to work with this group.
I actually really liked the contrast between the sound of the song and the look of the video. Near the beginning of the video one of the boys gave a "mocking" bow, kinda like they were acknowledging how people would expect the video to be shot, so they decided to do the opposite. Same with the dance battle scene, the boys looked like they were going to have a grungy hip-hop dance-off, but instead you hear the saloon-style music and the choreography matched that. I'm not really a UNB fan (this is only like the second song I've heard from them), but I thought the song and music video were great.
10 out of 10! I'm crying! I love them and this song so much!! Thanks for doing this song. If you want to see the full amazing choreo they released a perfornace video today.
I lost my mind too with this comeback. Like the song is so groovy and I love it. Its just has a contagious vibe that just makes you want to sing and dance to it.
i really like how the choreo in the beginning of the song with the piano makes it look like the rhythm is running through his body and bounces back, if that makes sense.
I love that you got as excited over the song choreo as I did when I first listened to it!!!! And I totally agree with your comments about the MV and wardrobe not matching the song.
Hahaha I like how you got speechless for some time after 2:30 😂😂 Ryan Jhun and Loud Noise produced the song so yeah... Hahaha "terrible people" lol Yaaasss 10/10. Glad you loved it I'm so proud of my boys 🙌👏
OMGGG THANKYOU SO MUCH FOR GIVING ATTENTION TO OUR PRECIOUS UNB😭😭😭 thankyou really thankyou so much for giving love to Blackheart! i really appreciate!!!
I COMPLETELY AGREE WITH THE MUSIC VIDEO MAKING! When I first saw the teasers and concept photos, I thought the song was gonna be like bad ass and bad boy vibe, but when the song came out, it was NOT what I was expecting. As an aspiring director, I was so disappointed in the video but the song is SO GOOD. I love them so much they deserve better for the image of UNB!!
I watched this right after the Twilight Marathon stream we did, and I feel like the desaturation level is the exact same as the entire Twilight Saga oml
I love UNB so so so much. I will support them with all of my heart and I've been cheering for them since so early in The Unit. I've grown to love the song even if I feel it doesn't highlight half of UNB as there are so many rappers and not a single rap section and the most affected by this was Marco I still think it's a fun song that's grown on me. As for the mv... I'm forever angry and MBK for it. They had a chance to create something beautiful and amazing. I love when groups just go ham on a concept. The song that I've most compared this to is Show Girls by SNSD which they did for a couple of comeback stages during Lion Heart which has such a fantastic concept that they went 110% on and it has always stuck with me because of it. MBK instead of going with something that would make the boys stand out (I personally see 1920 theatrical style gangters with some pinstripes and colourful shirts and ties and maybe og type fedoras) they played this mv the most generic and safe that they could possibly do. They dressed them in random street clothes with very little distinctive traits to make members pop in each outfit and sticking them god forbid in the kpop warehouse where literally every second mv this past year has been filmed. Neither the outfits and especially not the set correlate at all with the mv. Also how washed out everything is disgusts me. I'm a huge lover of popping colours. I got none of it. I wish that had taken a risk with this mv and had fun with it instead of just ticking off every generic box they possibly could. Again GIVE ME BRIGHT 1920S SWAG FILLED GANGSTERS THAT I CAN REMEMBER A MONTH FROM NOW, A YEAR FROM NOW. because when a group goes for it, those are the kind of performances you remember. No one remembers thinking "ah yes black street clothes in a warehouse, this is unique". As a visual artist, the mvs are one of the reasons I'm so drawn to K-pop and this mv was such a massive letdown to such an amazing and beautiful group and in the end a really catchy song that has so much energy that's stolen by the mv
