You should watch their performance of Love Goes with only 3 microphones. They were singing live , dancing and passing around the 3 microphones. They had me there.
They didn't wear in-ear monitors untill they become a little more famous to the point they couldn't hear themselves in mall tours anymore. And when they had a little more budget. I remember fans were demanding the company to let them get monitors coz there were a lot of instances when they missed the start of the songs coz they couldn't hear themselves due to the crowds cheers. And if they couldn't hear themselves, it was obvious thry were all working on vocal memory which was damn hard. Yes, it's proof that they practice so much to be able to hit the right notes without reference but they shouldn't have to undergo such ordeal. 😅You can find a lot of their old vids in when they were still doing mallshows without any monitors. Crazy.
When they were starting way back, they didn't use in ear monitors..I was able to watch their mall shows and no in - ear monitors. Probably they were expensive and the boys were doing free shows as a form of promotion since they came from a small company.
The test of a true musician is when you have the barest minimum of any other technical help you can get and still brings out the best performance. it makes sense that they don't have the said "monitors" at this time, because, SB19 is not yet a BIG artist. But they still nailed it! That's why we love SB19, they are a natural! Talent over all things!!!!
This was when they're still starting, they don't have the budget for the right equipments, they even do mallshows with a loud crowd w/out the inear monitor, the 3 mic challenge, Josh post about it, he said they were worried when the organizers told them they only have 3 mics, but they don't want to dissappoint their fans(just few at that time) so they just did it, and it was a success 😊
when i see their 2018 to 2020 live performances and hear a little flat here or there but overall it sounds perfect i am reminded again how great a leader Pablo is....He gives equal parts to all not just to strong vocalists, they sing live, they work with what's available (passing around 3 mics singing live with choreography, no music, Stell was hurt so they took over some parts but then he continued singing...etc..), and allow us to see the real thing so we can see them grow...Pablo doesnt cover up mistakes but at the same time a perfectionist who tells his group it's ok to make mistakes but don't... i believe that the confidence they exude on stage (sila pa rin ang may pinakamalakas na stage command) is mostly on the trust and value Pablo gives them..and how each one brings out the best in each other...as Pablo said, before the fans believed in them, they believed in each other first... this Myx setup is unforgiving, and yes it was recorded live, and the harmonies kahit walang in ear ay for me was bec of the many times they practice..even at present, like their latest vlog, they still practice for a single event the songs they've done so many times... def the most hardworking ppop, no one is lazy, 3 successful solo artists, endorsers, Ambassadors, CEOs of their own businesses, pursue their hobbies, gamers, amazing brothers and sons, and that's on top of being SB19 who does the music writing, composing, producing, choreography, concept etc ako na ang napagod kahit im just typing lol as i always like to quote, champions aren't made on the ring, they are made in the shadows...and this group have been in the shadows of hardwork, no pay, sometimes no food, for some no place to stay, no assurance except at the start they were promised they would be event entertainers, they were not hired to sign a contract then train them, no...they trained first and hoped to be signed...unimaginable hate, reactors laughed at their faces, mocking them to wear gstrings (bahag) so they would look authentic, media insulted and shamed them which they answered substantially with respect but cried together backstage after the interviews, bravely went on tour for free kahit ang daming haters, happy sa 7-10 online viewers, almost walang humihinto when they perform sa malls..etc this is SB19...i have known them since 2019 and those who do will understand why their fans support hard and could only hope to work as hard as them as Atin thanks for reading may all is well with you hhehehe thanks again Josh and Lucas
I don't think they had the budget for in-ear monitors at this point in time yet. This is when they just got viral and their company is very small so the budget is very limited. If you watch their older performances, they're not wearing any in-ear monitors in any of them. They had to rely purely on themselves to hear the backtrack and their own vocals.
@@aikie301 if you also noticed, same clothes were worn in different appearances and by different members. But damn, their talent, individual skills and humility is incomparable. Proud A'tin here and will always be.
I didn't realize in-ears are taken care of by the artists. I thought whatever show or production the artists are in provide that for them. That's disappointing.
The 3-mic challenge is for the reactors to follow where the mics go from 1 member to another😊 can't wait for your rv on that. 😊yes, this early performance showed how talented they are even with limited equipment.
When you discuss the technical stuff a certain performance becomes more special. To us we just like it as it is but when you say it is hard then we appreciate the artist better in adifferent way. Thank you.
During this time they are just newbie, and whatever opportunities they give to them, they just grab it, they can't demand for something...and I think they want to do it to show their talent
I think that's why they don't have ear monitors that time 'coz they're just starting, the company (former) can't provide it for them. 🥺 Fans even gifted them personal mics , etc. A'TIN will do anything for the love for SB19. 💙
You will be amazed when you get to watch their performance with 3 mics. In that event, there were no in-ear monitors, they only had 3 mics and they were dancing. They had to pass the mic to the next singer while doing the choreography.
9:58 When Lucas said "Most musicians would be like, oh we got to do that again for the next 12 hours to get it right. And they're just like, nah. This is it." I think the answer to this is that most Filipino artists don't really have the luxury of time? (I'm just guessing here because I don't really know what happens behind the scenes.) But this reminded me of what Waleska and Efra Herrera said when they reacted to a SB19 vocal rehearsals compilation, specifically during the rehearsals for SB19's collab with Ms Regine Velasquez: Waleska: These things get arranged so last minute. These arrangements for ASAP are so freaking last minute. If you're a guest artist, you're working in a 48-hour kind of period, if much. Efra: There's a reason why we compliment the Filipino industry so much, in terms of the pedigree of singing in comparison to all the other industries we check out. It's because.. we've discussed this as well with different musicians from there. A lot of people actually think that it hurts the industry itself, other people think it's what creates these calluses, creates this ability to adapt so fast. I think the answer is probably somewhere in the middle. But it seems a lot of Filipino TV or Filipino shows, a lot of things are actually done quite last minute. Like in the sense of you only get a couple of days to arrange or prepare, you only have a couple of hours sometimes to figure shit out. . . When you go to ASAP, sometimes you get a call 24 hours before. Waleska: Sometimes you get the arranged version for you to practice the morning of. There's a lot of space for it to go wrong. Waleska and Efra have interviewed many artists and musicians from the PH so I guess they've talked about this topic many times. I think Josh and Lucas will encounter this too once you interview many more artists and learn more about P-Pop and the OPM industry as a whole.
I fell in love with this song because of SB19’s version. Specially their performances during their US concert tours. I kept on watching it over and over again. I feel like I’m being hypnotized by their harmony. 💙
Yeah, that 3 mic performance of them was freakin cool. You gotta check it out. With all the dancing and singing and passing mics in between members without being obvious about it. It's like a challenge for the audience to spot when they pass the mic.
SB19 have been through all kinds of challenging situations and they never back down in any challenge..that's why they are the PPOP trailblazers..THAT's HOW AMAZING SB19 IS..
I just love hearing technical comments from musicians, vocal coaches and producers. This was on their earlier days when they are still harnessing their harmonization technique and, time and practice did very well on them. They are now monsters when it comes to harmonizing. As you say previously, rough environment sharpened their skills.
Talking about awesomeness... you might want to include Go Up 2x speed dance challenge to your list. It is nice to see how they pull it off altogether. It is actually crazy. A definite must watch.
MYX is like MTV of Asia. This performance was on the early days of SB19 that is why they did a cover of a song as a performance. MYX really do live performances and there is no 2nd take in the Philippines for live performances. The love goes acoustic version was done in their live online concert so no 2nd take also
Finally, been waiting for this 'Bakit ba ikaw' reaction. Might wanna check their MAPA practice video with raw vocals. You'll see how their experimenting with their harmonies/figuring out how to do their harmonies. They also have Tilaluha practice video with raw vocals (unreleased special).
They call it 3 mic challenge because it’s a challenge for the viewers to see if they can track who has the mic and how they pass it to the next one singing. I look forward to seeing your reaction to that video.
If you want to hear they're raw voices while practicing you can watch in their channel. They have raw voices. They are practicing harmony in their studio with raw vocals. Our PPOP KINGS..
Please do SB19 advertisements - maybe you can do them all in one sitting. The entertainment value of their ads are so high, we know you will enjoy them! Over time, they've done several endorsements for Dunkin, Pepsi, Acer, Nissin, Gcash, etc.
No in-ear monitor is actually very usual in live performances in the Philippines. In-ear monitors are usually used just in concerts but in live TV, it's not that common. It's just a very recent thing here.
During the days that they went viral and having mall shows when they perform they don't have ear monitors.Have you imagine singing in a big and loud crowd without ear monitorss?? It's just awow because they still sing well and great.
The first RV that you did with SB19 is their latest performances from 2021- now, the performances that you're watching lately was way back 2020, they have improved alot as you can see, and to think they don't have the right gadgets(idk what it's called) they still gave us a good true performance 😊
There are few offs there, I agree but as you said guys, it's difficult to perform with a very poor monitor to no monitor at all. We should know as we're theatre play actors at some point in our lives. I experienced performing really messing the entire solo because I can't hear myself and the monitor. 😅 Yet, SB19 during this early era still pulled it off. I love them and admire them. They are excellent without me being bias. I hope they'd be able to have a huge production. A massive and explosive ones.
Yes they didn't have in-ear monitors yet during the earlier parts of their career because there was no budget for it yet. I think it was after 'What' that they started using monitors.. Not sure... If you notice some ppop groups are the same. 1st One is one of those groups who are also used to not using monitors, they weren't wearing any during their perf at the 1st ppopcon and they were one of the best acts that night. The only time they get to use monitors is when it's provided by whoever is recording them. Otherwise, they just don't own one.
Always a great review with you two💯 Thank you for your continual support. This is one of my favorites for SB19. I love their earlier days and I’m so happy for what they have now. They’d still be awesome even if they didn’t have what the have in the current. 💎🎶❤️🔥🇵🇭🤙🇺🇸
Since you are more on their vocals. React on their "TM Pusuan performance of Tilaluha". And their Vocalization Compilation. A lot of reactors also react to that. Anyway, there are no good in harmonizing than sb19. They are 5 but they harmonize so well!.
it all about training your ears. in the philippines, tv shows don't usually use monitors, e.g. singing competitions so contestants rely on their musical ear in singing their songs. musical variety shows (which have budgets) use in-ear monitors mostly because of live the music and audience.
I never comment on anything until Lucas talked about my favorite scene in Idiocracy. 🤣 I’m not alone! 🤭 btw,i look fwd to your reaction videos everyday. You guys are legit! 🙌🏼
