The Les Paul Standard is the flagship of the Gibson electric guitar collection and represents a perfect blend of traditional design and contemporary appointments. The 2015 model features a mahogany body with modern weight relief and a mahogany neck with an asymmetrical Slim Taper profile. The compound radius rosewood fretboard is buffed and dressed to perfection by Gibson's PLEK system. Other features include BurstBucker Pro 1+2 pickups with coil-splitting and phase changing, reverse polarity rear pickup, removable pickguard and an improved tune-o-matic bridge. Includes hardshell case.

Seems worth it just for the wider neck. I cannot stand playing on that high e string and sliding off the side of the neck.

Play them, I just did and a big difference! The new necks! Why? Stay away from 2015!

maybe its just me but i found that the sring tension was extreme. The sound and intonation was good but i had a hard time hitting my bends properly, due to the string tension. Also bend werent very comfortable. But the sound is fine though.

Looks great. Not loving the tuner on the headstock though..
@Keylooh

the tuner is really fun. the guitar tunes itself its so odd. And u can save like 12 presets on them. though without it the guitar would cost 200-300 bucks less.

Ah, okay. It would just seem weird to me not to have to tune it lol. I'm not even that bothered that it tunes itself- it looks odd on the headstock which throughs off the appeal for me.

u´re not alone on taht topic. ALOT people remove it.
@Keylooh

but the 2015 models come ALL with the g-force tuner. so u dont have a choice.

I recently bought this guitar in wine red candy and here's my general take on it. The new improvements made me a bit skeptical at first but didn't have much impact on my purchase behavior. I own a 2010 Gibson Les Paul Traditional and I love it, as well as other quality known guitars like my JEM and JP Music Man. When I got my 2015 standard a couple weeks ago I was blown away by the finish and craftsmanship. It feels like a fresh revitalization of the Les Paul model. For purists this may be disturbing, and it is however it only is because of the great past and success that Gibson has previously had. That great history is proof though, that Gibson can do it again. Not enough of these new models have been played by musicians everywhere to study if Gibson has done it again by bringing a sense of infinite sound and a factor that makes everyone who has ever picked up a Gibson feel at home and connected with the guitar. By the end of the year hopefully more people have played one and can provide their feedback. Being a musician my whole life as many of you have and are, this 2015 Les Paul Standard model gives me every joy that my 2010 Traditional and Gibsons in the past always have and more. I like the tuning system it makes it quick and easy to tune, and can imagine the ease of playing live unless you run out of battery. The wider neck was "different" at first, but now I love it cause I can bend further and vibrato without worries. The coil taps are cool however I may never use them except for the direct bypass from the bridge to the output jack, that one is pretty neat. For those who own or have played any of the 2015 Gibson models, let the rest of us know what you think.

I have never owned a Gibson and i played this one for about 15 minutes. It felt terrible, the neck is way too wide and way to thin. The sparkly finish also looks like shit. I'm 16 so i can't really regret not buying one earlier, because i never had the chance! Now it seems like i will never be able to get a good (new) Les Paul from the USA division :(

Kinky Walrus All depends on personal preference. i recommend getting a Strat for the smaller nick width, but i personally like thicker necks, so I'll be getting a Paul.

The thing is that i like the width of a normal les paul

Kinky Walrus There are still Vintage les pauls and the ES-Les Paul has a vintage neck.

wow just bring down the prices, get rid of the ugly les paul 100 scribble, and get rid of the g-force tuner and boom Gibson you would've had it perfect.

Just bougbt one, played 20 differrent, prs and gibsons...finally it became a 2015 Sr standard...Man it smells, looks and plays so well...and the sound.. Huuu just lovw it!!!( the brass nut will be replaced with ti zero fret not from Gibson...) -> ti is also on 2016 models, my lp studio HP has it super..super, one of the best Gibsons I ever owned. ( sold the older ones to collectors) next one a LP with 59 or 57 pick ups and modern specs..testing under way

Carlos you should be ashamed! This gentleman may have a skin disease whereas you only suffer from insensitivity and stupidity but you still post on youtube! The guitar is being reviewed - just concentrate on that.

absolutely hate it, a standard should not have all that cheap crap and needless stuff. headstock and feel reminds me of china wanna-be, lost all gibson balls and vibe.

+rdprtt Awesome guitars, I got one for $1900 CDN. Love it! Changed out the tuners and they sent me a titanium nut as brass wore out quickly. This guitar sounds MASSIVE!

Went to the music store today, and saw an '82 standard hsc on the wall. I picked it up and it was like a tank! That's what people mean by back problems and les Paul's. I was blown away because my 2011 lpc is nowhere near that heavy. Then I picked up a new 2015, and it was pretty light. The 82 sounded as massive as it weighed when I plugged in. Now Im a believer in the vintage mojo factor.

Does anybody know if that's a actual song he's playing at start or how to play it? Sounds ace.

I dug it. It was a smidge weird when I picked one up after playing my Les Paul (Custom Classic 2011) but if I played one without playing it I think it would seem more natural.

The price of this guitar is lamentable. Or maybe it's just my budget. Sticking with the MIJ Edwards E-LP's. Played one in this color. NO DIFFERENCE in playability. The Seymour Duncans do deliver a chunkier sound compared to Gibson's stock ones, whatever the hell they were.

Žonatan Rivera To be honest I like the single coil Fender pickups. Despite the myth, Single Coils handle dirtier and heavier sounds really well. and they are louder too!
