Thank you so much for this video! You have a lot of great considerations. I am starting work as a Sentricon technician and this is going to help me better explain to customers why an annual inspection in the crawlspace is necessary especially with Sentricon bait stations. This gives me a greater appreciation for the job that home inspectors have as well and helps me piece together the larger picture.

Thank you for a great video. Our condo association has a 1992 contract for a 16 unit slab community. When I asked the termite company about how they do inspections, they said they don't need to go inside the units. We've been paying $350/year for a Retreat contract. Correct me if I'm wrong, but it sounds to me like we need to start looking around for a new company.

It is probably a good idea to get some estimates but don’t cancel until you have something in place. That renewal fee is pretty reasonable. You could probably request interior inspections

This gentleman gives a wealth of information, please watch his video it could save you a tremendous amount of money. I assure you a new termite company is not going to tell you you are already covered. Most people don't even know you need it ,I didn't.

I’ve had my pest control two years now and just found i have termites in my back room so they put bait stations in and he said I’ll be back in 6 months. If I have an infestation, shouldn’t they come out sooner. If I get the liquid treatment, they are charging $800. I just paid $575 plus $1200. I found out also, they don’t guarantee their work. I’ve screwed.

When there are active termites they need to treat that with liquid

Thank you so much for your video. I live in NC and had a termite inspector come out. My home is about 3300 square feet, with a two car garage and a crawl space. This company uses (Termidor®, the #1 liquid termite treatment). On my unofficial contract he wrote "waiving the garage and crawl space". I didn't like that language and he said he whole house is still covered. He said the garage would not have the holes drilled every 12 inches or feet (I am not sure), but he would apply the liquid in (or near) the expansion joints and because the liquid is not being drilled in the garage that is why the garage is waivered. The crawl space (I would assume) wouldn't have any treatment drilled or applied to the soil. I am a single mother who knows hardly nothing about this stuff and I am trying to do my due diligence not to get ripped off or to have my home inadequately protected from termites. I currently have a bait-system that was put in place when I purchased to house in 2019. Can you please advice, if possible?
@AAAExterminatingCo
@AAAExterminatingCo Год назад
In NC a waiver simply means this treatment is not being done to NC minimum standards. I suggest getting a treatment with no waivers whenever possible so that it meets the NC “Minimum” standards. The Termidor label does allow for perimeter treatments but even with that the piers should be trenched and treated. But I would say see if the warranty covers damage if it does your probably ok. It’s always ok to get some more estimates.

If one is handy and could follow a great RU-vid. Purchase all you need and do it your self. I picked up the same product the pros use and with a little work you could save over a thousand dollars.
@AAAExterminatingCo
@AAAExterminatingCo Год назад
That is always an option but you can usually get a good professional treatment for under a thousand dollars. Plus keep it under contract with yearly inspections for around $100-$150 per year. It really is a great value and a small price to pay to protect your home. Honestly trying to control termites yourself is just a bad idea. Go look at our full treatment video if you want to see what goes into a real professional treatment

@@AAAExterminatingCo I totally agree for individual that don’t do full research. I try to get one in the house and the price was 1500 to put the traps around the house a total of 12. That treatment was for the first year. For the following year they where going to look at the traps and charge me a monthly fee of $29 a month. I bought 20 of the traps and poison bottles for $480. My house is 11 years old and this is the first year I saw them flying out of one area of the house. No visible damage so far. The prices you indicated in your comments don’t exist here in Long Island NY. In NY one has to be an electrician, plumber, carpenter, mechanic basically every to survive. Everyone is out to take you for a ride and if you don’t know they will take your money.
@AAAExterminatingCo
@AAAExterminatingCo Год назад
@@omarseneriz5577 yea people charge too much for bait stations sometimes. You shouldn’t use them together for full treatments the chemical will counter act the bait. Your best option with an active infestation is either full chemical treatment or chemical spot treatment then bait. I would recommend getting a pro out next year for an inspection to make sure you are under control
@omarseneriz5577

@@AAAExterminatingCo Thank You.. I will definitely have someone check next year and see. I did both… dig a trench and pour the Termidor sc chemical around the house. I also place the traps after and only place the Trelona cartridge Specially where I saw them coming out from.

How often should my termite contractor be checking the bait stations? The one we are using now checks them once a year when they supposedly do their crawl space inspection. I say supposedly because honestly I don't follow them to see what they do.
@AAAExterminatingCo

They are probably using Sentricon or Trelona ATBS they only need to be checked once per year but that crawl space inspection is very importantt

Thank you so much for this informative video. I esp. appreciate your advice at the end of the video re: annual inspections, that if an inspector doesn't go down into your crawl space and do a thorough inspection once a year, then that contract is worthless (22:30). BTW, your prices in NC are SO much more reasonable than where I live!

Great video + expert information! As we have a damp crawlspace + partial basement and also a termite infestation in the floor, I have a question: Could you provide more info on the presented fact that if wood (joists and such) in the crawlspace has 20 or more % of moisture, termites may develop a (permanent?) colony in such wood, where they can exist without any contact with the ground, and, therefore, without any harm by any termite treatment applied to the ground? I’d also appreciate if you share how often you experience such a situation. Thanks much.

The bait contacts I have seen so far have been rip-offs. They were going to charge for installation (close to $1000, then $50/mo. on top of my regular pest control fee. Monitoring bait stations is really easy... Thanks for the video.
