I’m impressed by how organized your space is especially with the amount of gear you have. I have tried but no, can’t do it.

Thank you for the tour. I was wondering where you have been. I am almost done with my home studio and got some good ideas from you. Helix still rocks. I just added 2 Powercab 112 plus' to the mix. ✌️

The new space looks really promising, Alex. I'm sure you'll do it justice. Looking forward to the next tour 😄

Nice to hear from you Manley! All that’s left to do for now is to build some diffusers, hang my panels that absorb sound, and stuff the corner shelves with insulation. The shelves are nice, but they’re also perfectly made bass traps so all I have to do is stuff them and put a cover over.

Nice ideas to maximize that space. A brief Jesse Griffith sighting, too

How do you know Jesse? He lives out in LA now

@@AlexPriceMusician He and I have gigged together a number of times, mostly doing theater gigs in the Lancaster area. Great player.

@@markchristopher4165Oh sweet. I actually grew up nearby in Reading and was doing a lot of pit orchestra gigs maybe 6-8 years ago before I moved towards Pittsburgh. Jesse and my band and I are playing at Tellus360 on December 22nd.

Re: the mic wall: dust, smoke, etc. can collect on condenser mics if left out in the room. You might consider covering them when not in use.

Yes, very important. I used plastic ziplock bags. I probably won’t do the mic wall again though in the new place since I have more storage.

Really nice gear. Curious why you have such expensive preamps but cheap speakers.

I’m not a mix engineer, so it’s not a priority. And also I was waiting until I moved into a more permanent room to invest in better monitors. The space you’re in is really important to selecting the right set

so im getting into playing the electric guitar and i just found you on my feed so i thought i might ask. i am a huge john mayer fan and i really like his sound (kind of like a blues and rock) what amp and pedals do you recommend? i have a fender strat and pretty curious! thanks !
@AlexPriceMusician
@AlexPriceMusician 10 месяцев назад
A Fender Tweed-style amp like the Blues Deluxe is a great place to start. A Fender black panel amp like a Deluxe or Princeton is good too and would have a cleaner, chimey sort of sound as opposed to the bluesy-er Tweed amp. For overdrive, maybe a blues breaker pedal like the Morning Glory, a tubescreamer, maybe a Dumble Overdrive Special type of pedal like The Dude from J Rockett.

Thanks. Would you say the amp stand makes a difference when just at home practicing?
@AlexPriceMusician
@AlexPriceMusician 10 месяцев назад
Most of my reason for owning an amp stand comes from people telling me I was way too loud at a jam when I could hardly hear myself. Haven’t had that problem since I started making sure the amp speaker is actually pointed at me. I think it sounds better that way too. At home, maybe it’s less important. Just find a way to get the amp up higher so your ears are in direct range and you’re not hearing mostly room reflections. On top of a chair, a desk, another amp, etc. Or if you’d rather have the amp on the floor, find a way to tilt it back. I have a set of Fender tilt back legs I added to my Blues Deluxe for that reason.
