I like the parable that CDNMI is like a caricature of Aventus. But I'll have to stick to the cheap stuff, I don't want to be punched in the face when my wife finds out I bought a fragrance for $300 that you can barely smell. 👊💥
@@pallemaniac i know he said in the video full presentations of aventus for around 300 on grey market BUT i havent seen it on any discounters for less than $360-400. Aventus is so expensive. I could buy 3 chanels for one aventus and cover at minimum 3 seasons.
This was such a great video. Absolutely great to hear from a perfumers perspective. This would be an awesome series. Thanks for the content, hard work, effort and professionalism to your craft. Much appreciated.
This was awesome! I loved it when Richard said he liked the price of CDNIM because of the price of Ambroxan, but they compromised on everything else 😂 I can't wait to watch more! It's great to hear Richard's perfumer perspective vs Ashton's. Great videos, guys! Keep them coming!
Ya, I was quite surprised and ecstatic when Richard praised CDNIM’s quality. Makes you think about how much of a cash grab Creed really is, for trying to push those 500$ prices.
@@SirSillageSniffington lol with all the hate that it gets, I’d consider those words a praise 🤣 On a real note though, he is showing a relatively positive view on it. Which made me think the iterations such as CDNIM Limited, are definitely in the realms of premium grade for low prices. That’s sort of my own view on this whole interaction.
@@Q_N-It is true that he called it the Rock n' Roll Aventus. He could have just called it trash if he wanted, but he didn't. So, that a compliment in itself I suppose 😅
This is awesome Ashton! Many thanks to Richard for coming on and giving what is basically a "free" class. I hope we see others soon! Maybe some indie perfumers, and of course you gotta try to get the other well known perfumers on here. Learning a lot, I love it! Thank you both!
Hey Ash, this is such an amazing and informative video. I didn’t know that they’ve found a method to extract pineapple oil, that’s nuts! And I’m quite surprised how costly pink pepper oil is, can’t imagine what it’s like to work with such an ingredient when messing up. I also agree with Mr Herpin’s opinion on Americans not really liking citrus, Light Blue Forever is a perfect example. As for the Sauvage part, I believe it’s not just Sauvage that’s taking over the scene, Dior fragrances are topping a lot of lists. The ending is an eye opener, the fact that CDNIM can nearly stand toe to toe against Aventus from a perfumer’s perspective, is impressive. For Mr Herpin to give CDNIM such high praise in the quality department is extraordinary in its own right. Definitely need more content like this if you ever get time for it, thanks Ash!!!
Great knowledge, I hope you make a series together with Richard. I've already seen videos on other fragrance channels where perfumers were invited but there is no comparison in knowledge which Richard present here. They weren't so detailed as him Magnifique
What a fantastic video, Ash! I could listen to you and Mr. Herpin discuss fragrances all day. Would love to hear him discuss his recent creations for Michael Malul, including Edgewater. Very educational! 🤘
Great great content ! Very interesting to hear a master perfumers take on these scents ! I will definitely have to check out Salt N Pepper... Thanks Richard and Ashton for taking the time out of your lives to connect with the senses ~~ Perfumery can be such a magical experience that we can all connect threw.....
Really enjoyed this and excited for more of these types of videos. I’d love to see him not only compare clones to OGs but maybe even rate fragrance lines and see what are his faves.
That was very interesting! I love having the point of view of an experienced and reputable perfumer, comparing his point of view with an amateur enthusiast. This should really become a series because the Internet needs more interactions between the manufacturers & "specialists" with the consumers! Thank you for doing that 👌🙏
Really enjoyed this video, hope to see more of him. Personally I don’t like wearing either fragrance but a few weeks ago I sprayed Aventus on one hand and Club de nuit on the other and then asked my mom to pick which one was better. Her initial reaction was something like is this a trick they smell the same, then once I told her one was a clone of the other and to pick which one she liked more she ended up picking Club de nuit.
Hey Ash, really love this video. Give us more of this. You have ATH doing similar things, but I really find that this has his own value to add. It's really crazy to see how he gets all the materials out of it and can analyse the composition! Especially since Richard is the creator of some of the most amazing fragrances ever.
Wow, appreciate taking the time to break down the elements. Explaining what we smelling and experiencing. Personally i find club CDNIM too harsh. Preferring mont blanc explorer ofer all the clones. Totally agree aventus is more classier. Like the direction we are going. Really interested in la nuit de l'homme bleu electrique vs the original. Why do so many people like the original eventhough it's not that strong. And why do parfums de marly fragrances seem to perform longer. Is it the build structure?
That’s the guy behind Oud Wood and the lovely Indonisian Oud (RIP) by Zegna. 40 min interview is not enough we ask for 40 days 😜 What a joy to listen to perfumers insights!
Fwiw, I own both. I prefer Aventus on my skin of course. But the key to CDNIM is it is a SILLAGE beast, and the Lemon Pledge harshness just isn't there in the air, especially in the drydown. That is why it gets so many more compliments than Aventus, at least for me.
Man such a solid video, loved the insight from Richard and the back & forth in opinions. Please do more of these! Looking to buy that little discovery set from Precious Liquids as well. Cheers!
i saw this video yesterday at home, i was like meh but now im listening to it while im at work i really enjoyed it and it gave me a plus, thank you guys
Great Video!!!! I definitely would like to see them talk about Oud Wood and the clones because i'm curious why Oud Wood itself and the clones dont project. Carved Oud last ok but still super close to the skin.
Great guest! Next time pls ask him about smth with grapefruit, like Light Blue Forever. Interesting where grapefruit stands in the citrus range. Layton vs Detour noir would be interesting too. Also in general, it would be interesting to hear Richards opinion whether Tygar, Afternoon Swim, Elysium are worth their price and why.
In Australia it's over $400 at discounters. Ckub de nuit is $60 so you can spray as often as you like. I've often paid $280 but I've gotta call it at $300.
Even the weirdest smell can become comforting over time. Can't argue with the performance of 2015 CDNI. Reach out and touch noses at the expense of your own. 😆 Awesome how Rich nailed the TF without a brief. Props right there. 🤝
This was a great video! Awesome to hear Richard's perspective on the artistry of Aventus and the compromises of CDNIM. Very refreshing to hear a pro admit that there is a time and place for both fragrnaces and that he would actually wear both depending on what he wanted out of his fragramce that day.
This is a nice video, BUT... There is still much to be asked. He said Bergamos was expensive, but he also said Ambroxan was expensive. And that CDNIM had to put that 10% of "expensive" ambroxan in order to replicate that Aventus note. But as we all know, CDNIM is cheap. So where is the line here? What is actually expensive, and how much is the profit margin what we are talking about. For example (hypothetically): sinthetic bercamont is 10c per gram, but real bergamont is 1$ per gram, so it's technically 10 times more expensive. So in the formula, you put 2g of bergamont, which is $2, and now the fragrance is considered "expensive"? Could we even say that this practice of "expensive" oils is like the practice of how fragrances can say they contain real Oud when in reality they have like 0.0000001% real Oud inside but since it's technically there the bottom can say: "Contains real Oud". You know what I mean?
This was amazing! I would love to see a comparison between Luna Rossa Carbon and Sauvage EDP from a perfumer’s perspective since both have a similar DNA
Fahrenheit, Acqua di Gio, Eternity, Obsession, Escape, Cool Waters, Drakkar Noir! Most Filipinos still love the classics! Perform best in our climate (Sunny and Rainy). Please do reviews and suggest cheaper clones.
Yes hahahaha lol truth is HIGH COST MIDDLE EASTERN FRAGRANCES SAFE TO USE? Yea lol but your bank account wont be lol for litterly THE SAME EXACT SMELL IF NOT BETTER HAHAHA FOR THE " MORE AFFORDABLE " CHOICE LOL IM JUST HERE TELLING PEOPLE THAT THOSE 300 PLUS MORE ARE BASICLY A RICH PERSONS EGO BEING MANIFESTED " OH LOOK WHAT I CAN AFFORD " HAHAHA
So, I bought the Precious Liquid Customizable Discovery Limited Collection with these fragrances: Salt&Pepper Aqua Oud Amber Suede Sangria Oak I am in love 😍 with every one of them because whether it's an aquatic or amber fragrance, it smells of higg quality. I just want to bathe in them. Also, shipping was super fast. It took less than 48 hours to receive it from Boca Raton, Florida to where I live in North Carolina 👍
Yes! THANK YOU! 🙏 at least one other person is commenting on this. I thought I would be the only one who is bothered by this nonsense of picking the EDT version. Poor perfumer
I don't own any dupes but I got Teriaq from Lattafa recently and have been reaching for it and happily over spraying. I would love to have that North Stag IV. 🤞
Folks, if you layer Armaf's Club de nuit Intense Man Parfum Limited Edition, with, ParfumsVintage, Pineapple Vintage Intense.... it is the Aventus clone Bomb!! I get compliments every day that I wear that! Amazing scent!!!!
Yes! THANK YOU! 🙏 at least one other person is commenting on this. I thought I would be the only one who is bothered by this nonsense of picking the EDT version. Poor perfumer
I know people that compare CDNIM to Aventus but they complain about quality. They forget about price difference. If u bought CDNIM thinking u gona smell same quality as Aventus. U shouldn't be buying Fragrances.
BUT IT IS HAHAHAH we all have to understand that its about the dry downs. When you have a scent that smells 90% the same for 5 hours and the only difference is 2 hours of dry down " which is basicly Aventus WITH A TWIST ( better in my opinion ) the whole " quality " is the ilusion lol it is to place " labels " on what is considered top of the line or not. You think CDNIM cant mark up their scents to 200.00 a bottle? And you dont think Aventus can mark DOWN their bottles hahahah ?
Remember though, nobody around you would ever know by the scent if you're wearing CDNIM or Aventus. I'll keep my hundreds of $ & continue to wear CDNIM.
