Thanks so much for the review! Awesome unboxing video. The notch on the heel is actually intentional to the design. It's known as the "gentleman's notch" and may go by a few other names. It's a common design element that helps prevent your heel from getting caught on or snagging on to your pants :) Hope this helps clarify. Enjoy your Cavaliers!
@@decoraven825 simply type in “A bad resole job on these Crockett & Jones Boots” and watch how Trenton and Heath resoled that pair of shoes, towards the end of the video you will see the notch on the heel too
Yeah the Duke as well as the President and Captain has a surprisingly taller heel stack height compared to Red Wing, Blundstone, Allen Edmonds. My 1st pair of Captains on their 1st last were too big (going by site recommendations). It felt as if I were fighting gravity trying not to slide down a slope. I C oils feel the stress in my shins immediately. Once I got my sizing right it was all good. I just had to get use to the aesthetic of a taller boot heel stack.
So did you keep them? I am only 5'5" and could not wear the Dukes... my feet are on the narrow to normal side and they were just too wide. I have two pair of the Cavalier in suede and very happy with them. Just purchased a pair of leather Cadets and having an issue with them so i might exchange them for a leather Cavalier. Did you experience any issue withe discomfort in the front of the ankle?
...you dont know much about boot contruction, do you? goodyear welts characteristic is that it comes out of the box rigid and needs a little time to break in (that is the whole selling point of a blake stitch, that they come out of the box with more flexibility). and that chip is extremely common.
I just bought a pair of cavilers and got a half size down from my normal size and they aren’t tight but aren’t big. Should I return them for a whole size down from my normal sneaker or should I keep the ones I have now that are only a half size smaller?
