Professor Layton (Super Smash Bros Ultimate) FANMADE animation moveset 

It was so cool to see all the games represented, even the spinoffs

This makes me sooo happy. You don't even understand. I am just hoping and praying that Layton makes it in to one of the final DLC slots. His chances are really slim but I haven't given up. also, This is an incredible moveset! I think you have represented the character super well. His moves are based on not only The puzzles but like the interface of the Layton games as well as the side puzzles like the animals and the camera. You even included some story elements like the diabolical box and the Azran eggs. On top of that it is all animated beautifully😭. Don't even get me started on the final smash. Excellent work! please make more Layton content. I'm subscribing right now so I can be ready for it 😃

Imagine a stage based where you'd travel through the different places, such as St Mystere, the molentary express, Misthallery or Monte d'Or... With some special stage event such as the specter from The Last Specter, Randall with the miracle mask...

What a really cool moveset! I elaborated on my own moveset a while back and it leaned a lot more towards the "swordsman" style, but this angle is a lot more creative and faithful to the series as a whole. That upsmash in particular is so silly and wonderful. The Final Smash will only ever be the Runaway Ferris Wheel in my heart, but you did a terrific job with animating Culprit Reveal!

This is so creative. Turning the main overworld "gameplay" into his jab. Everyone who's played will have done exactly that, tapping every single thing on screen to find a hint coin. Wow, he can actually give you the L. For such a gentleman, he's got his fair share of disrespect. lol Adapting the trunk friends as the Down Special, like a mix of Bowser Jr's Mecha Koopas and Hero's commands. Awesome. Hmm, for the Side Special I think it would be too difficult to implement (and way too difficult for the player) physically moving them in the middle of a match, perhaps they just take time to form together into that puzzle while the button is held. With the Up Special too, physically moving it would be too difficult, I'd suggest the move stops him in place while the trampoline is forming, and perhaps just quickly moving the stick in a certain direction with create the line in that direction. I do think at least one of his moves should have involved his fencing sword aside from just his Forward Smash, perhaps one or two of his aerials, or replacing Pandora's Box in his Side Tilt? You've done a grat job representing the series as a whole here though!

See I still think Layton needs to be in Smash :)

In regards to the Slot Machine Gun, how about have it work much akin to Zelda's Phantom Slash to where it will automatically assemble itself and that it has three stages of completion. Stage one is when you just activate and cancel it, Layton will just throw the part away like a throwable item, Stage two where its halfway complete, Layton will swing the weapon like a bat or club, it breaks afterwards Stage three when its fully assembled, Layton will use it then as he does in the game. I think that might a simpler and more straightforward method of using the move while still referencing the original puzzle in question. Good job on this video by the way.

Interesting take on his moveset... There's a lot of references in it and represents more from the games than what I had in mind. Well, there are some things I see here that I see in the moveset I had in mind for Layton, even if they were used differently and I think I'll just put down some stuff in it here if you don't mind... -I gave Layton a sword, a rapier specifically, in my moveset so he's a Swordfighter but I tried to style it after fencing... like I made his jab, dash attack, and n-air this stance change that gave him fast attacks while his normal tilts and aerials were his strong attacks. -Hint Coins were their own little mechanic and had limited uses similar to Banjo's Wonderwing. -The Slot Machine Gun is his Forward Smash.

Okay so why exactly does this video not have as many likes as the number of puzzles in the series ?... Seriously, it's so cool ! Layton is also my number 1 pick for the DLC and I'm glad to see someone made 4 minutes (!) of animation for his moveset. It's great that all games are represented, too. The sound effects are awesome and there are very smart ideas like jab, dtilt, (dash attack ?), all smashes, special moves and aerials… Even idle animations ! And the animated final smash omg it's just perfect. About the alts... Are they from Luke, Emmy, Flora, Katrielle, Young Layton, Future Layton and Phoenix Wright ? Anyways, great job !

Great work with both the moveset and the animation ! Honestly, I just think the magnifying glass move is to broken : you could very easily push someone offstage. Maybe something like the Din's power from Zelda would be better. I think the gun-coin mechanic is very good and could had some challenge and be brand new. Player could act similar as with the down b from Cloud, and i don't think it's too complicated. For the up b, I thought the glider from the Curious village could be more simple, but this one is pretty original. Anyway, great work and Layton for Smash !

This is great and I love that you animated it but I think there are to many attacks were the outcome is random. Dont get me wrong the Idea that hes using diffrent animals for his down B is good but i dont like it that they all have diffrent propertys. I would like them more if they had the same effect on enemys so its not luck based. Also the Idea of the slot machine gun beeing a puzzle is interesting but in a rather fast-paced beat em up this just takes time and makes you vulnerable. Here again I would be happier with the simpler version of just pulling out the gun and the puzzle part just beeing an animation that runs. Lastly, im not happy with his up B. Not only would i rather want to see either the glider he uses in cursed village or the helicopter he built in the movie but playing a minigame to catapult him is really not what I want to focus on in the game.

Some of these ideas are really good. You really have the beginnings of a character I would love to play. It takes a team to make smash characters. I would put you on the Layton team if I could.

Amazing video! Like, you have no idea how much I loved this video! As someone who desperately wants to see Layton in Smash (imagine my saltiness when freakin’ Sans gets representation before Layton), I also try to come up with a potential move set for Layton. However, I’ll admit a lot of it is based on his fencing side and doesn’t really capture the essence of Professor Layton as he’s a puzzle mastermind and not a fencer. I’d come up with moves like the coin gun and the culprit as his final smash, but nothing more. Well, maybe also his Up-Special, where he uses the paraglider from The Curious Village. But now that I’ve seen this video, the move set is absolutely amazing and does what I essentially failed to do with Layton’s move set: make a move set that defines Professor Layton for who he is and not just one side of him. Some of the moves are just downright creative, and I’d always reply the move just because of its sheer genius. I don’t necessarily agree with all of the moves (or at least, how they work) such as how side special (coin gun) works, but then again people use Hero’s down special just fine anyway. Anyway, my point is that while I don’t agree 100% with all of the moves shown in this video, I’m just blown away by how the community comes up with a viable move set for potential characters. And with Sakurai’s genius? I’m having high hopes of Professor Layton being playable in Smash Ultimate. Maybe not as the 5th DLC character, but as one of the characters after the Fighter’s Pass. Anyways, awesome job with the animation! I was hoping to see stuff like taunts, win animation, and the likes but this video is still amazing anyway. I’ll be coming back to watch the video again! EDIT: can I also just say I love his idle animation? Like how he’s just menacingly standing there (with the occasional hat adjustments and thinking) folding his hands like a freakin’ boss? 😂😂

For dash attack he walks forward as one of the “divide this image into groups with one of each object” puzzles is in front of him, as the lines are drawn on it it does damage

The only thing I disagree with on this video would be his gun move. I don’t think he’d have to build it. It would take up tons of game time. It’s most likely he’ll have it at the go but you might need to charge it in order to use it.

Here's a gimmick for Layton if you hit an opponent he will apologise its a quick apology and you can move around while it takes place so he isn't vulnerable if you hit someone

Trying to cram as many references as possible doesn't necessarily make the moveset better This is something most people attempting this fail to realize, despite this apparent design philosophy in smash (& rivals); it's no wonder that other platform fighters that don't do this tend to feel weird and not fluid

I think the ! would make for a great down B counter

I personally would of had his Fencing more a part of his standard attacks

Only change would be side b. Competing the puzzle would take to much time and leave Layton vunerable. Instead it should be automatic but use hint coins as a resource. Layton gains more hint coins for landing certain attacks.

It's the best character

It is cool, but side B and up B last too much, it could be ok for side B if you only have to press buttons in a correct order, put doing up B when you are off stage will be sick. Also, Fordward smash should be like peach one, if you move up, peach hits with a golf stick, and if not, with a pan. And down B should be selectable

I think a lot of the special attacks just straight-up wouldn't work in an actual game. They're really cool concepts but would leave you open to attack for seconds at a time, which in Smash is deadly. I think they need some real work. But other than the specials, this moveset is very good.

This is my favorite moveset video, the animation is wonderful and the atmosphere of the games is so well represented in the attacks. Awesome job!
