Russias not going to use nukes because the political damage would be by far worse than losing the Russo-Ukranian war.your are as clueless as Mearsheimer is.
piers job is to confuse his audience into thinking the same thing vaguely they did before the show. reinforce faulty thinking by accepting it as obvious, is enough to confuse any decent questions his viewers might have. hes building on an audience already brainwashed and confusional apathy. its not a hard job. guy in the white hat is the goody, of course.
I like your "normal" part especially...now every fool and their uncle has a golden microphone coming out of their heads...and so they are now an authority on everything under the sun...this is unfortunate because technological (and does not have to be) expansion should have given us more quality content and programming, not quantity...
Professors get a lot of practice being patient. After all, they typically begin their professorial careers by dealing with know-nothing pinheads who sit in their classes doing their level best to exhibit stupidity and immaturity day in and day out.
To be fair to Piers, even though his schtick is kinda annoying, I still appreciate what he's doing because he's inviting to his show the sort of speakers (Finkelstein, Mearsheimer, etc.) whom have been disregarded by the mainstream media like Fox News completely because of their "insufficient level of pro-Zionist sympathies", which is definitely not up to the mainstream American standards so to speak. ;)
Pierce is just not very bright. He is only a journalist who interviews people. He is not a military leader so his silliness is not likely to cause any of the military actions that he has hypothesized. So I don't see any reason worry too much about how simple-minded he is.
@@soilmantedtoo many proles think Morgan is a political expert. He's made a fortune shilling for the establishment while pretending to be an 'insightful' commentator.
Brilliant, high-minded, tolerant, and patient. Which one do YOU think I am describing. If I never had to watch Piers again, I would be fine with that. I could watch hours of Prof. Mearsheimer. War is a crime and Piers' rationale for state-sanctioned war crimes along with his despicable embrace of relativism is utterly unacceptable. Only one person in this interview knows how to read a moral compass.
Most dangerous part of this interview was when piers was literally trying to defend that if Israel use nuclear weapons it could shorten the war....what a monster 💀 he is.
@ir8542 He is not in a position to implement any of his military tactics. I don't know why you are calling him a "monster." He is a dopey old guy will silly ideas that he does not have the wherewithal to implement. I don't see any reason to worry about him too much.
In my working life I have come across many English gentlemen like Piers, convinced of their cultural superiority, themselves like James Bond and their country like the Roman Empire.
Piers is probably asking these questions in order to instigate dialogue that would surely get a lot of attention therefore views .. it also opens up the conversation to start with. it is particularly stupid the things he is saying in this particular instance though I would wholeheartedly agree... He has a pattern of trying to be as "controversial" as possible, it's the business he's in... I do doubt that he would have similar dialogue or thoughts privately... That's just my take on it though
@@TheCynicalOptimist88 Exactly. People forget that his job is being a host, not an intellectual. He has to give the "approved" Western point of view on any matter, no matter how dumb it sounds, it's the guests job to challenge it.
From Wiki: In 2019, Mearsheimer said that his preferred candidate in the 2020 Democratic Party presidential primaries was Bernie Sanders and that economic inequality was the greatest problem faced by the United States. Yeh, he's a real genius. I'll pass.
the way Piers justifies war crimes, whether in Japan or in Gaza, is sickening. Lack of morality and compassion from this English journalist is worrying. I hope one day, and I believe that one day he will be investigated for facilitating war crimes.
@@B_BodziakBut Tucker Carlson is against US foreign wars. I bet that 90% of the people commenting here are dumber than P.M. he has to say dumb stuff because it's his job, what is your excuse?
And I can't fathom how Prof Mearsheimer is considered an expert in International Relations. He is wrong all over the current battlefield - from the Russo-Ukranian war to Israel Iran...all analysis utterly wrong...
PIERS MORGAN DID AN EXCELLENT JOB at acting out the mainstream narrative and allowing professor MEARSHEIMER to explain it "as if to an idiot", which would describe the public, if not for mental capacity, for attention to the topic. Piers morgan did an invaluable service through his humility. He practically immolated himself to allow Professor M more clarity and more exposure.
Particularly his own stupidity. Iran is constantly attacking Israel via its puppet militias. The attack on the embassy wasn't a provocation it was a statement towards Iran, that their revolutionary guard officers aren't safe when planning new attacks on Israel.
Mearsheimer isn't very bright when it comes to Ukraine. His arguments are pretty much considered crackpot by contemporary political scientists and historians of Eastern European affairs
@@giftedtheos Right, "contemporary political scientists and historians of Eastern European affairs", most of whom are too cowardly to challenge the official narrative pushed by Washington. You are truly gullible if you think these "scientists" are actually independent. You apparently have really short memory, cos similar "experts" have shown their loyalty to the Western elites on every practical occasion (esp. the Iraq War). The same applies to the media. One thing that people seem to forget too often is the fact that the other side are obvious thugs (be it Russia, be it Hamas, be it Iran or China), it doesn't automatically make our elites the so-called "good guys". Whilst it's still better for an average citizen to live in the West, precisely because we care about the future of our countries, we should always support an open debate and be happy for people like Mearsheimer, who have the courage (lacked by the vast majority of members of the academia, media or the Congress) to speak their mind without auto-censoring themselves just to placate the neocon hawks in Washington and Tel-Aviv. ##### I come from a former Soviet satellite and this is exactly how things worked in our countries as well - the media and the academia always cooperated with the government and its secret services. Contrary to what the people might stereotypically think, some modest criticism of the regime was actually allowed in hope that the masses would believe in the mirage of journalistic freedom. It may be that Western elites are allowing for a greater leeway there but since most people are career-driven cowards who just want to do things which profit them personally, in the West it's actually as rare a thing to find a journalist or a professor who would be willing to go against whatever the elites demand that the current mainstream narrative should be , as it was behind the Iron Curtain on the eastern side during the Cold War...
@@giftedtheosyou gotta be kidding, either that or you just don’t know much history. Either this or you are just somewhat ignorant or blind to what’s being going on for the past 20 odd years ? Have you been living under a rock glued to western MSM ? 🙈
I am really Agitated at Mr Morgan's budging in while Prof Mearsheimer hasn't finished his delivery. Mr Morgan had bn doing that consistently, during the past svral mnits!! And in several other videos as well. I believe any person in a political debate need to really apply diplomacy standards during their discourse, to portray its essences. I salute Prof Mearsheimer's deep analysis of any issue, especially in the current Israel-Palestine conflict. Only God Almighty CAN bring the end of this "sickness" to the clouded minds of some of HIS power crazy creations, classed as humans.
And so was the fire-bombing of Dresden. A war crime. The British also were never held accountable for the women and children they killed, tortured and raped in concentration camps in South Africa. Neither did they apologise.
how about germans who were subject to this war crimes and had their government commit the holocaoust and still manage to support another genocide in gaza... are germans humans?
@klardfarkus3891 Obviously we have a bunch of commenters here who are not particularly impressed by Piers. They recognize him for the dopey old guy that he is.
Neither pessimistic, nor, optimistic. We must see it the way it is. Pessimism, dropped two nuclear bombs on Japan. Killed over 30 thousand in Palestine. Commited strikes on an Iranian embassy. Optimism, pushed global colonisation, enslaved millions around the world, pushed conventional war against 'the' nuclear power - Russia, and escalating. Percieving the reality exactly the way it is, is not a choice, it is the only way out. Peace.
The professor is wrong about the Red Army's crimes. Russian troops have past over my country on its way to Berlin and our grandparents told us exactly what they did.
I am a little confused by peoples obsession - widespread - with piers morgan. I'll just say that. i suppose they show examples of how to deal with propoganda....but I can hear mearheimer and all of the greats in much more productive conversations.
Israel was hell bent on drawing fire from Iran, and she succeeded. Yet I urge you to look at the events from another angle, a very very narrow one that no one consideres. The regime in Tehran, whom are actually supported by the EU and the US democrats through the back door, has been under immenese pressure from the Iranians over that past three years. Everytime that this Islamic regime is in serious trouble, a life line is thrown to them from the west or Israel. This was not the first time and it won't be the last. Israel attacks a consulate building to kill a couple of Iranian top brass, when she could have easily assassinated them outside of the consulate, as they have done many times before, even inside of Iran. Why? Then Iran sends in 300 drones an dmissiles, but they tell the Turks two days before hand knwing that Turkey being NATO will have to inform the US and they would inform Israel. Ample time to mount a defence from Israel, UK and the US. The Iran sends 200 slow low tech drones which took over five hours to reach Israel, and also fires a few ballistic missiles with an accuracy of 10 meters to hit an airbase. They hit the parameter and the end of a runway, curious!!!!. Israel retaliates by attacking a radar site. Both sides save face, no real damage is done but to the pockets of the US and the UK taxpayers, and all goes quiet unil the next round of pretence hostilities. The fact is the Israel and the regime in Tehran need each other to prolong their stay in power. The west has no real desire for the regime in Tehran to go simply because tehir destablising existence in power in Iran is good for western business. I can imagine billions being spent by the Arabs on upgraded Iron-Dome or similar systems. Israel likes that wretched regime in Tehran to stay, because she can use that to milk the US and the western europe for more ' gifts ' to make sure Israel could defend itself. Its all good for everyone but the Iranians and the Palestinians.
That is actually incorrect; Iran attacked first on October 7. General Zahezi, the Irainian who was targeted and killed in the consulate attack, was one of the masterminds behind planning the October 7 attack.
@@librarycollection3795 I think you ought to brush up on your geography. The regime in Tehran, despite initailly showing their joy of the HAMAS attack, clearly stated that they had no idea what HAMAS was up to. People like to exaggerate the influence that these guys have on the Palestinians, a different matter with Hezbolah in lebanon that is the creation of the Islamic Regime. In fact if you really must know HAMAS was in a way the work of Israel, as far back as the late 1980s. They were created to oppose the Yasser Arafat's Al-Fatah movement that was a secular and nationalistic Palestinian movement. Israelis knew that a movement based on Islamic radicalism would actually hinder the Palestinian cause, and since HAMAS had in its charter the destruction of the state of Israel, that would have been the end of the two state solution that the Zionists never wanted. Do a bit of research and you will be enlightened as how these lovely Israelis operate. Now there is no doubt that the wretched regime in Tehran supplies arms or even finances HAMAS to some extent, but they also like to exaggerate their power and influence in the region. No it wasn't Iran who attacked first, it was HAMAS who committed the attrocity of OCT 7th.
Soviets had literally millions more reasons to behave at least as brutal against Germans as allies did, but they didn't! All the fire bombings in Europe were done by US/UK air forces.
@@11235butAs British couldn't fight Germany in a ground war on the continent until 1944 they used strategic bombing of Germany. &as the Russians main strategy was to destroy the Wehrmacht in a ground war & defeat Germany by taking Berlin they had no interest in bombing geman cities & left that to their western allies.
Gee that's so painful to watch. Iran responded to Israel's attack on the Iranian Consulate in Damascus. Iran gave the US and Israel 72hrs advance notice of their intent. The drones used were basically pawns in a chess game ie expendable. They were low value low flying drones that took 4 hours to reach Israel from launch. The aim was to test and exhaust the iron dome and to establish the radar and launch facilities as well as cause Israel and its allies to use expensive missile defence systems to take out the cheap drones which has cost Israel billions and would not be sustainable if continued. Iran hit the Nevatim Airbase which is the worlds most protected facility. It launched 7 cruise missiles and 5 hit. The aim was not to destroy infrastructure but to warn Israel and the US that they can penetrate their defense systems and hit whatever they chose to. The iron dome is useless in modern warfare. As far as Russia goes, they are not interested in nuclear war or invading other countries. Russia will take Ukraine by the end of the year as Ukrainian forces have been depleted and no amount of fictional funding is able to have any impact on replenishing front line soldiers.
Russia invaded Georgia multiple times since 2008 and invaded Ukraine and annexed Crimea and funded separatist provinces. Putin has said the dissolution of the USSR was a tragedy, and he would like to restore its old borders. Russia does care about invading countries. If you had watched the news in the last 2 years, they are in the process of invading Ukraine again and have already "annexed" 4 more provinces.
Piers argues with the goal of winning an argument. The professor argues with the goal of seeking to understand situation, seek truth, and determine most likely scenarios given enough information. Ego vs no Ego
I cannot get over Mr. Morgan's hypocrisy. He justifies the murder of civilians when there's an "existential threat" yet condemns Russia's actions in Ukraine. I wonder if he ever looks at his interviews and thinks "what a dickhead I am."
Morgan is a like a child who wants the adult to give him an absurd answer to satisfy his tantrum. He was thrown when the professor said he thought Russia might use nukes in Ukraine. Morgan hoped he’d say the opposite so that he could do his smug smirk and say “Gotcha!” But he suddenly had to think on his feet and couldn’t. Instead he tied himself in a knot of ridiculous contradictions. He’s only ever a few seconds away from bursting into tears and stamping his feet.
He is incapable of learning, Morgan has his own agenda, and this baffoon is not prepared to learn new tricks. Why does the conflict between Russia and Ukraine have to be brought up? There is no comparison. Ukraine can defend itself, Palistinaians don't have a right to defend themselves. Ukraine can be armed with sticks and stones, but what the Professor is saying is that Russia has the capabilities to stop this war in one fowl swoop, and the so-called allies will dare not retaliate, or else.😮 Morgan does not get it, and ends the conversation, with "let's talk football, Professor." 😨So the moral of this story is, If Russia was to wipe out the Emirates Stadium then Morgan might get the Professor's argument.🫣😥
The great thing is the more Morgan has these individuals (Meershiemer Mate, Finklestein Martin) the more he looks like a chump with no idea of the subject he's trying to shill for... His show will live long in the memory of being schooled and owned.
Pierce is so uneducated in politics. It seems he’s a slow learner. Prof. Mearsheimer is a brilliant man. Iran had informed all countries of its decision before hand. It has been said by the US Government, but it seems Pierce is not aware of this fact.
I’d argue that people worrying more about sports teams are one of the main reasons the west is so screwed up. They worry about sports as their countries are collapsing! Pathetic
I don't know why piers is even a host on this show ,..he has no idea about the real world especially when he meets a highly educated man like the professor who has facts and common sense
Britain, Russia and the USA, all went into Afghanistan and left with their dignity in tatters. It was a win for the military industrial complex but not for the righteous Western ideology.
And yet the dinos went extinct and we mammals the descendants of the mice are now ruling the world... No question Mesrsheimer is both brillant and fascinating and a magnetic speaker but he also said many wrong things
Independent since 1991, accepted by Russia even under Putin for 23 years until the seize of Crimea, Elections with changing winners for those two decades until Putin tried to convert Ukraine into a full vasall...
I used to hate Piers because I thought he was playing dumb and being disingenuous about so many issues. Now it’s obvious that he’s not playing. He’s just as idealistic as a 19 year-old, as naive as a five year-old and self-absorbed as a two year-old. How can someone have lived that long and still know so little about how the world works? No it must just be an act. No one’s that dumb…are they?
Golden Retrievers are within the most patient and humble and clever and peaceful and useful living creatures, while P "Blind Mind" M doesn't even know that such features can exist.
lol i like how u elequently roast pierce.....with a doze of british sarcasm.... we are blessed to have prof john m. and prof. n. finklestein...as well as scot ridder, judge napolitano and colonel mcdouglas
Maybe, maybe not. Sometimes humans get things wrong without being paid. Even a lot of climate sceptics and Maga/Trumpets are not paid - but they get an emotional payoff, to the benefit of their egos ☺️
Piers is insufferable. He's basically interviewing himself, and using his guest as a foil. He interrupts, he contradicts, he's rude and combative. He reminds me of some American politicians who only show up in a public setting, to toot their own horns. I have news for Mr. Morgan: A British accent does not confer knowledge, integrity, or credibility.
The question is why Prof. Mearsheimer comes to Piers Morgan's show? 😂😂😂 Because it is very entertaining, but probably a waste of time for the Prof. 😅😅😅
It's a waste of time to enlighten Piers but not a waste of time to the viewers. He revealed the truth to us, so we have a clearer picture of what the world is going on. Forget about Piers.
