Excellent review, just found your channel and subscribed. I have had my Profitec GO for 2 months and I am very pleased with it. I am making single drinks and have no problem with the single boiler work flow as outlined here. When I occasionally want to use a taller cup I remove the drip tray grid and set the cup in the tray. This way I can brew the espresso directly into hot water for an Americano easily. Cannot use a scale, but as my grind is dialed in, I can draw by time, 30 seconds. So far, I have not found a quirk or downside to the machine. PS the steam wand has been upgraded to cool touch.
I was looking for a review on the Pro Go... say I found exactly what I was looking for. Great job. Needless to say... from this moment I'm suscrito to this channel.
Preset at 9 bar. Thank god, this should be every ones standard from factory. Hate the colour choices tho. Need a WHITE or CHROME one in the range. This Black is way to austere for our kitchen and the other colours are too 'on trend' for me personally. Totaly LOVE the machine otherwise. There really are very few competitor's at this price point, so well done Profitec all the features one needs for a domestic set up !
On the fence between this and Silvia Pro X. I know they are not in the same category as the Silvia is Dual boiler but I think the Profitec is built better. I usually do cappuccinos so the SPX makes more sense although I think I can live with steaming milk first and then pulling a shot!
How well does this machine do back to back shots? I feel like many if not all espresso machine reviews/demonstrations show one shot only. But realistically when you have guests you would make 2-6 shots back to back, so it would be nice to know if it is possible. Back to back shot capabilities would potentially be an excellent selling point for this over the Gaggia classic.
Use good water and avoid descaling all together. Lots of videos on finding out how your local water rates and if you can use something as simple as a Brita or an in tank filter. Still need a Puro type cleaner for back flushing.
While you are brewing you are introducing cold water into the boiler to replace the water you used for your extraction, it is normal for the temperature to drop during a shot. The recovery should be pretty fast though.
I've been agonizing over which espresso machine to go for (upgrade from Sage Bambino) and I wish I'd come across your reviews a month ago as they would have saved me loads of time! I'm currently debating between Profitec go, ECM puristika, lelit Victoria and Ascaso Uno. I mainly make Americanos so based on your workflow i think I'm leaning Ascaso. Added bonus with the heat up times, energy efficiency and good looks. Is there anything you think I'm missing?
hello, I have a Profitec go which I bought it recently, the problem I have is that the pressure gage goes up after 2 -3 seconds and gets to 9 bar and starts extracting , I was wondering if it can be increased to 6 or 7 seconds? it seems there is no pre infusion at all. I get 36 gram of espresso on 18 grams in 25 seconds. thanks
I have the machine for 1 week now. Still trying to get used to it but I have a question : every time I start the machine in the morning, after the "up" message, I get the "flu" code: the machine wants me to pass water through the grouphead. The machine warms up to 260+F°... Are you getting the "flu" code?
I have the same, you can either wait for it to cool down or flush it to cool it down faster. That seems to be the new workflow with the latest firmware 1.0.6
With the grinder, what setting did you have it at/ grind size?? I have this same day up and I noticed I have a lot of channeling and my shots are coming out watery and fast
Can anybody help confirm something for me? When I'm looking for bottomless portafilters, MOST of them have a list of compatible machines listed in the information. Can I be confident that, even if the Profitec Go isn't one of them, any E61 portafilter will be okay?
@@marc6652 When you have cabinets (cupboards) above your machine, you can't "just drop the water" in the tank. I have cupbaords above every counter space I have in my kitchen. So with this design, everytime you need to fill the water tank, you need to pull the machine so it clears the top cupboard before being able to fill it. Those machine are heavy. Some machines now have their water tank removable from the side or even the front!
So "it's not a good design" for 0,0000001% of the population. Perfect for the others. Not sure it's enough to make Profitec change his design. Fortunately you can consider the made in China Bellezza Bellona.
Because of the rewarding reviews I did order the Profitec Go. After a week of use I returned it. I encountered too many irritations and annoyances. The build quality is poor. Cut corners and sharp edges all around. When pulling a shot the vibration pomp makes a hard ratling noise. Very irritatating The driptray is wacky. The lid of the water tank is just a piece of metal on top of it. Working with the pid is very awkward because it's located at a very uncomfortable place. Before making steaming the milk you have to purge the steamwand twice. It's more like a washing machine. The body panels are connected to each other in a very cheap way. The ECM Casa Classika is a far better choice. The vibration pump is more quiet. Stainless steal boiler for the best tasting espresso. And easy in maintenance. Larger watertank and driptray. High end build and finish. Somewhat more expensive but a 1000% more quality.
What mods is it missing? It has pid, pressure Guage, adjustable pressure. Maybe just don't have preinfusion, but I've read you can do a trick where you turn the steam wand on it can move some water into the portafilter so like a preinfusion.
For nearly a 1000 dollar I am expecting a decent built espresso machine. Which definately isn't. A laughable wacky lid sitting loosely on top of the waterreservoir. The driptray is ramshake and poorly finished. Within a few week great chances that the driptray will break. It doesn't slide in neatlly as well. Metal on metal. The vibration pump is very noisy. All metal parts are ratling. Cut corners and sharp edges everywhere. Diptray becomes very hot. The pid is located at a very inconvenient place. And so on, and so on. Anyway the Profitec Go is in badly need of lots of improvements.
This offer makes sens in my opinion. What you mention pales in comparison to what this machine offers : PID, monometer, 58 group, large water tank, easy way to adjust the pressure valve. Compare it to the Silvia Pro X which is 50% more expensive. At most I may hesitate with the Lelit MARA PL62X V2. Ok, this machine is not perfect. No one is. But nevertheless, that is a long way from saying that this Profitec Go is that bad...
I don't think that is a fair comparison considering the LM Micra costs 4x more. The Profitec Go is a single boiler machine more geared towards entry level whereas the Micra is a double boiler geared towards the top end.
The Profitec Go makes such a terribly loud noise while pulling a shot with ratlings all around. The lid of the water reservoir is just a piece of cheap metal lying down on top of it. So poorly finished. The driptray is wacky. Made in a cheap way. The body panels are thin and connected to each other in a sloppy manner. The Profitrc Go is definately not user-friendly. Too much annoyances. After a week of use I returned it. The ECM Classika or the Lelit Mara X are far better alternatives.
