I just got the 400 for my mom (I have the 800). She loves it so far and is enjoying her new hobby and being able to make espresso at home.

Thank you for this video, I have to say you go the extra mile on your video's please keep up the great video's I'm looking at the Pro 400 down the road, maybe at the end of year, my wife is very resistant to getting another espresso machine, bought a Breville BBE, gave it to my son in law and upgraded to a BE Pro for the steam power and have only had it for 21 months.

Fairly sure the Pro 400 has an auto pre-infusion function that can be switched off if not required

I just purchased this with the flow control option, and it does still have the mechanical preinfusion option. I haven’t started playing with the flow control yet, so I have the preinfusion turned on

Hi Mark, I am just wondering if you would be able to make a video displaying the steam power of the pro-400, similar to the one you did of the pro 500 a few years back, just so I can get an idea of the performance and boiler pressure over time. Cheers

I see you have many options in colors and wood trims for the PP400 over there. Here in Norway it is the 'basic' version only' do you sell the wood uppgrade for the handle / dials by any chance. Really makes the machine looks exlusive tbh

Hey max, We do have wood upgrade components but only ship to US/Canada at this point. Profitec/ECM does have custom wood available. I'd contact them directly and inquire about dealers in your area. Marc

Hi, would you be able to do an in-depth comparison of Rocket Appartamento TCA vs Profitec Pro 400? Like built quality, consistency, ease to use, temperature, etc. I’m torn between these two machines. Not sure with the extra money, does it justify choosing TCA over the Pro 400. Hope you could at least reply me as I’m contemplating right now.
@Wholelattelovepage
@Wholelattelovepage 8 месяцев назад
Hi ct, Thought I replied to this a few hours ago. Did you post same question on another video? If I didn't, know I'll have a video dropping on the TCA sometime this week. Until then here are my thoughts and some test results... TCA highlights: Build quality: love the new look of the E61 group. Base frame is one continuous piece. No welds, rivets or bolts holding drip tray support to mainframe. It's decidedly (subjectively) a bit "sexier" than the Pro 400. I like the dimensional ROCKET logo lettering on the rear. The case metal is relativerly thick and I like the curves. Temperature test results using Pesado TPD Setting: Average Temp, Max temp, Boiler Pressure Low: 196F, 196.7F, 1 bar Medium: 200, 200.6, 1.1 High: 203, 204, 1.2 Very High: 208, 208.4, 1.35 Steam tests - time in seconds to steam 5ox milk from ~40F to 140F Low: 25 Medium: 19 High: 18.5 Very High: 18 Both machines available with flow control. P400 has externally adjustable brew pressure, TCA adjustment is internal. P400 has dual gauge from brew and steam pressure. TCA has steam pressure only. Note: if equipped with flow control you'll get brew pressure from group mounted gauge Temperature adjustment: P400 uses a switch. TCA uses E61 lever in programming mode so a little more effort to change temps. TCA has a new steam tip design which our staff loves! Produces excellent roll even at low temp setting. Flow control on TCA is a little different as flow rate does not exceed stock of ~7g/s when valve is fully open. P400 reaches ~10g/s when fully open. Note: using flow rates >stock is rare. Price: TCA is more $$ Machines equally capable. Some of the extra cost is in the look of TCA. If you get the TCA be sure and turn off ECO mode or boilers start to cool down after 30 minutes - drove me nuts! P400 has 3 temp presets, TCA has 4. My guess is most users will only use first 2 on P400 and middle 2 on TCA. But on P400 you can quickly use switch to kick up the steam power a bit. Don't really need (nor is it practical) to kick up steam pressure on the TCA with excellent frothing power at all temps. Hope that helps! Marc

Mark, I’m an entry-level home barista. Graduating up from a super automatic. I mostly drink espresso but on occasion I’ll have a milk based drink. Would you recommend the profitec pro 400 or the ECM Classika?
@Wholelattelovepage
@Wholelattelovepage 9 месяцев назад
Hey joe, thanks for the question. It's a bit more of a process to make milk drinks on the Classika as you cannot brew and steam simultaneously and there's a wait of ~1 minute as the machine heats from brewing temperature to steaming temperature. Following steaming the boiler needs to be manually cooled down. On the other hand, there's degree by degree PID control of brew temperature which can be useful if doing specialty grade coffee. The 400 has PID but operates in general temperature ranges. Cooler for darker roasts and hotter for lighter roasts. For many, that's precise enough. On the 400 you can brew and steam at same time and there's no extra step of cooling down the boiler. If you want super precise brew temp control and don't mind the wait and extra effort when making milk drinks the Classika is a good choice. If getting geeky with brew temps on specialty grade coffees isn't too important to you then the Pro 400 gets the job done with less fuss. Hope that helps! Marc

Hi Mark, I'm in New Zealand and looking at buying my first coffee machine. Over here the pro 400 is around $200-400 cheaper than the ecm mechanika vi and the rocket apartmento. In your opinion would I be missing out on anything by going with the pro 400 over the other two?
@saamsadeghi
@saamsadeghi 6 месяцев назад
Can you use the Brita filters?
@Wholelattelovepage
@Wholelattelovepage 6 месяцев назад
Hi s, Thanks for the question. There are many different types of Brita filters. Some just do particle and activated carbon filtration so they do not soften the water or reduce the mineral level to prevent scale. Brita may offer filter options which soften the water. If the filter does that then it could work. Many softening filters uses sodium to replace some of the calcium in the water. That's why we prefer the BWT options which use magnesium to replace some calcium. In taste tests magnesium is preferred over sodium as a flavor extractor. Marc
