My two cents? I would bug the altitude, speed and the heading, but activate go around mode for the takeoff. Once you're above 400, or whatever altitude you choose, then click heading and IAS. That way the FD bars are set for wings level, and pitch for climb out. But everyone has their preferences.
Yes, you can. However, especially when flying in IMC, it's good to have a repeatable pattern to use. Since the mode control panel is installed for selecting headings and altitudes and modes, it's best to develop the habit to have the same place to reach consistently when you hear ATC say "turn left heading 180." That said, if the mode control panel failed, yes, I'd use the G5 knobs as backups, so I agree that a pilot should be aware that this is possible. Thanks for watching and sharing this tidbit!
@@TroyWhistman Well, been flying with it since my post 2 years ago. Since it’s a Cherokee and the GFC 500 is bottom left corner , it’s much easier to reach over to the G5 and select a heading.
