I wish I'd seen this video a week ago. I'm new to amateur radio. I would've saved over $100 had I known. I bought SD cards, cables, and software for the FT5D and FTM-500DR.
I'm sorry to hear that. I still program my radio this way. Also I would try to hold out on any new hear for the next generation. They should start rolling out with type-c.
@mind_warp thanks for the heads up. I'm not planning on buying anything else for awhile. I am eyeing a DMR radio for a backup when shtf, but I see no need right now. I need to learn what I have before I start getting into new projects.
I’m gonna get a new card. When I read from sd it locks my radio up in a loop. The data does transfer but I have to insert the charge cable or remove the battery to restart the radio.
HI! Tnx for your help. But though i can't get it to work. When i would like to overwrite the backup file i get a error that it isnt possible to write (to my sd card) Do you also know where the usb cable (included by radio) isnt work for writing to the radio?
I would try formatting the card as to clear any files already on the card the reinstall the card in the radio. Once you have done that I would create a backup from the radio to create the file system on the card. Once that is done if you still can't get it to work on your PC the I would completely remove both the software and drivers then reinstall from yeasu's website following there steps. If this does not help you then I could shoot you a discord invitation and try to walk you though the process. Keeping in mind that I am no expert on the possess and this was just a tips video on how I managed to get mine working.
This not a good video! The edits are abrupt with loss of sound on occasions. The instructions are not at all clear. How does a blank sd card contain the radio info? How is it possible to show the programmed information contained in the radio, when it cannot be read by the computer?
"MARS mod" is already sort of a misnomer, because nobody does it for actual MARS use. But there are plenty of radios that do in fact lock down MURS frequencies until you do a MARS mod.
@@ExtremeSquared You are correct, My apologies. I was actually not aware that the ft5dr had gmrs and murs frequencies locked. I never tried them. foot in mouth moment i suppose.
