I never thought I would see the day when the PS2 emulator is the most fleshed out and feature complete of all. At last, the emulator does justice to its system. Long live the PS2 and long live emulation!
Most emulators are moving forward except for the Nintendo switch unfortunately. So many forks but little to no performance improvements, all because of greedy Nintendo. lol
@@toefff greedy nintendo? lol So they're the bad guys because people can make them loose money ,steal their games, build emulators to run them on steam decks to recreate alternative versions of the switch? Come on now. If they lose money because of Yuzu how can they make more games anyway or even make money with the new switch.
This kinda make me wish someone could design a mini atx pc case that is shaped like ps2 so I can run pcsx2 on it on tv in big picture mode pretending it's an actual ps2.
I don't know what standards you used to conclude pcsx2 to be the best emulator, but i personally think dolphin is better.dolphin plays 2 consols and perfectly emulates the wii motion nonsense... Also as you mentioned the ppsspp, i think the ppsspp is better than or equal to pcsx2. These emulators are top 3 for sure.
I understand and respect your opinion about Dolphin, but imagine entering Dolphin and not having to configure the controls and accessories, not needing to choose which API will render the game in the best possible way, and all the fixes being applied correctly? The new version of PCSX2 is completely noob-friendly. Anyone with little to no experience will be able to get the emulator running and have fun. Additionally, the widescreen patches, which often have issues in Dolphin, work seamlessly in PCSX2.
Pcsx2 isn't all sunshine and rainbows , i found out that certain games work much better with older builds namely the 1.6.0 stable version , for instance the Sly games run and look way better on the older 1.6.0 at a steady 60 fps whilst on the newer version the framerate drops significantly to the low 30s and also looks jaded . Another game series Onimusha especially 1 and 2 look much worse on the newest builds and the backgrounds look unbearingly pixelated in comparaison with these games running on 1.6.0 where the backgrounds and everything else look smooth and how it should be . Pcsx2 has still a long way to go.
I think Dolphin wins for me, just for the fact that, last I checked, it's the only one out of the three that can fully run the system software with the only gimped feature being that the Wii Shop Channel only works when Dolphin's running on NAND data dumped from a real Wii system. Some kind of DRM thing on Nintendo's side, iirc.
Just remember, every donation makes a difference. $1, $5, $10, whatever. You don't have to be rich to show your appreciation to the devs and help speed up enhancements.
I think it'll be the best when it also has support for 246 and 256 games like Play! does. Until then, it's up there for me as someone with a PS2 bias, but not the best it can be. It'd also be neat if there was a fork that allowed 3D scene dumps, like Duckstation now has for dumping PS1 character models.
I'm so thankful that the best console of all time got the best treatment by the pcsx2 team. If sony were to go rogue one day and shut down PCSX2 for some reason, it'd be too late as we already have the 2.0 version, which is almost perfect. What a time to be alive.
The emulator has come a long way, nowadays you just add the game, turn on wide screen and you play. No more tinkering with the settings trying to make the game stable. The performance is also great, everything is so smooth.
PCSX2 2.0 is amazing indeed. I noticed a massive performance improvement on WRC Rally Evolved for instance over my latest version. Didnt need to apply skipdraw to remove buggy fog effects. Btw, do you know what is the first game playing in this video?
Criterion games have been playing fine for years! The black sky issue has been solved years ago! You only needed tu use the up to date versions, not the stable version.
My best guess is it's probably as hard/difficult to emulate properly on PC without game hacks/patches like Tekken Tag 1 or Dead or Alive 2 PS2 ver., due to dirty/hackjob programming

You could easily fix the Burnout sky in older versions by pressing F9 on the car selection screen, starting an event, and then pressing F9 again to switch back to hardware rendering. This only had to be done once per session. Yes, i agree it's better to have it fixed, but it's not like you couldn't have a sky in the older versions. BTW, did they fix the problem of the sun shining through objects, like the tunnels and trees? This would happen in the tunnel on the SIlverlake course of Burnout 3.
Do those changes only work for people with more modern PCs? I tried the new update (the nightly version) and couldn't see any improvement. I'll try the stable version, and if nothing changes, I'll revisit the emulator once I change my PC (2014 laptop with an i5 3210m and an Nvidia GT 645m)
PS2 emulation in general requires a powerful CPU. But I can play the last PCSX2 with my i5-3570K (2012) almost without problems. Some games have slowdowns, but everything is playable.
specifically the rendering api bonuses of vulkan are only really seen on new hardware, and if ran on older hardware it may end up with worse performance, that would include your hardware, you would probably see better performance with dx11 or even opengl.
Are FMVs still messed up without software mode? I remember that playing games in HW mode made weird anomalies appear around the edges of the screen while the FMV played, and I believe it even messed with the frame times causing the cutscene to micro stutter. The only way to fix this was to run FMVs in software mode which you had to use a hack for the emulator to do on the fly.
@@MatheusVitor314Marvel Nemesis é o único jogo de PS2 que eu tinha que não está na lista de jogos jogáveis. Mas saiu do menu. No site diz que está em ingame.
You can us HD texture packs if you have a fairly good pc. Ive got HD texture packs for the onimusha games 2 -3 and dawn of dreams. Plus other games. Absolutely glorious in 4k
i can't play this, it asks for the lastest vulkan driver and i have to use an old version because of other reason, someone knows a workaround for crap?
