Progressive discipline in the fire service 

Chief, this is a great video and covers many of the fundamentals of progressive discipline. I would like to add a couple more bullet points however: First, any process must include a preventative phase. In this phase, employees are made aware of the organization/supervisors expectations. Including a clear understanding of their position duties. This is best accomplished via a up to date Position Duty Statement that the employee reviews and signs annually. In addition, each employee should be given written, clearly articulated expectations from their supervisor. Finally, I could not agree more with your statement regarding investigation portion of discipline. Step one, before anything is done at any phase HAS to be FACT FINDING!!! And of course, keep personal feelings and emotions out of it!! Anyways just my two cents... Thanks again for the great content!! Stay Safe!!
